•Urges Ndigbo to leave North •Opens refugee camp in Imo
Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Ralph Uwazuruike has lambasted Igbo political leaders for asking Ndigbo to stay back in the North.
Igbo leaders, comprising the five Southeast governors, deputy Senate president, deputy speaker, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, among others, met last weekend and resolved that Ndigbo should not evacuate the North.
Reacting to the resolution which has caused heated debate among Ndigbo, Uwazuruike described it as “wicked, insensitive and borne out of selfish political interest”.
He said it is “sacrilegious” for the leaders to ask Ndigbo to stay back in the North when they are being killed daily.
Uwazuruike challenged the Igbo political leaders to show evidence of the security provided for their kinsmen in the North.
The MASSOB leader said the group would provide transportation and security to ensure that Ndigbo who are trapped in the North are evacuated safely to the East.
He said he has opened a refugee camp in Okwe, Imo State, for those who do not have a place to immediately relocate to.
His words: “To say that Ndigbo should stay in the North to show that North is a free zone is sacrilegious.
“If you say that, relocate your family to the North.
“I believe in leadership by example, it is not people who want to trade with the lives of Ndigbo because they want to stay in Government.
“Some of them have been in government for 40 years and have nothing to show for Ndigbo.
“It is sacrilege for Ndigbo to be buried in mass graves daily. Nigeria is no longer safe for us.
“They want to impress President Jonathan but the lives of Ndigbo are more important than any position.
“I cannot support anybody at the expense of Ndigbo. I am the only person who can say it, apart from Ojukwu.”
The MASSOB leader said all Ndigbo in Nigeria and Diaspora will observe a sit-at-home during the funeral for the late Biafran leader, Emeka Ojukwu.
He said Ojukwu will be jointly buried by the Nigerian government and Biafran veterans having served in "both states" as a military officer and Head of State.
Uwazuruike dismissed the reported threat by Boko Haram members to bomb Ojukwu's funeral, saying MASSOB will provide adequate security.

Good that they set up their refugee camp in Imo as we do not want any more bloody ingrates on our soil.

Sacrilegious ke? Was it not the same thing Ojukwu did telling his igbo to back to the north because he has got the assurance of Lt. Col. Yakubu Gowon for their safety? Despite the fact that everyone then including Ojukwu, knew that Gowon had not authority over the masterminds of the pogrom unleashed by the northerners on the ibos. The likes of murtala, ibb, abacha and the rest totally ignored gowon and continue from where they left off, when the ibos returned to the north. Of course as expected, they were slaughtered again like "eran ileya"- ramadan cow.

Stale news!!!

uwazuruike should not ask igbo to return to refugee camps
that is irresponsible of him to say
if he wants to declare biafra, let him declare it already. if he keeps insulting igbo leaders, he will never be given respect himself.

And the have started fighting amongst themselves with no real plan or solution to the problem on ground. These Igbo elders need to all go into retirement jor. They outlived their usefulness.

What do you want it to be called? Eldorado? Mind you this is for people who don't have a place to stay. That's what they are called the world over. Just stick to the primary aim of the news and leave the irrelevant elements.

Igbo political leaders are callous;----- a statement of fact, an axiom that needs no other evidence to prove it's truthfulness.

Setting up refuge camp in your home-land; ------more sacrilegious than the call by Igbo leaders for their kinsmen to remain in the north for further massacre.

Why the quarrel over setting up a refugee camp?

Do not think of yourself alone, you are not alone on earth, take sometime to think of others.

Reasons that the camp might have been setup:
=================================

1.    Some Igbos in the North has complained bitterly of not presently having up to N10,000 to transport themselves back home.
2.    Not only that, some might not have a place to live when they are back because they were busy building their houses in the North and not in their village.
3.    For some, maybe their parents were killed and they have never come home since they were born, they only know they were Igbos and that's all.
4.    Not every Igboman is rich, the same applies to the other tribes. Some Igbos in the North may only be able to afford their daily meal and rent. It is possible they spend all they get. Or their business could be on the verge of collapse at the moment.
5.    Some people do not like to spend their only pocket money for this type of journey until they see that their lives are in absolute danger (point of death). At that time it will be too late.
6.    Refugee camp or the like is a temporary place for people running for their lives. It is not demeaning as some of you have insinuated.
7.    To say the least, some might have committed heavy atrocity back home and may not want to go straight home until their fracas is settled.

8.    Many more complex reasons.

N:B:    If you practice Tribalism, sorry to say that you have a little brain and need to travel. The world is one. This does not mean that you should be a tree that heard it will be cut down and remained standing. You have legs. Run first and ask questions later.

Try to think, don't just talk especially if you lack the experience.

Thanks for reading.

Meanwhile, if you have a home, be it a room, house, or apartment to let anywhere in Nigeria or looking for one, kindly post it for free at www.search4rooms.com.

Re: Uwazuruike To Igbo Leaders: You Are Callous by PointB: 12:38pm On Feb 02, 2012
Uwazuruike, Rochas and other Igbo leaders are saying the same thing.

They have all acknowledged the the security situation in the country and the magnitude of challenge facing the security personnel.

They are all passionate about the need to protect Igbos and Igbos business and investment.

And they are all right in asking Igbo to return home or stay back in the north. This is in view of the fact that not all part of the north is volatile at the moment. So Igbos in the North will listen to the voice that best address his current need. Those in dire situation will listen to the call to return, and those in relative comfort or safety will stay back.

The seemingly divergent voice address the same situation and are both correct. Housing returnee in veteran camps (termed refugee camp) is not in anyway sacrilegious. Better a living dog than a dead lion.

Indeed not all Igbo will remain in the North, neither will all return back. The Igbo leaders positions have addressed both side of the divide in Igbo opinion. If I were in the North, I will send the vulnerables home but stay on my job/business and watch the situation unfold.

You know that Igbos has never been their brothers keeper, so they can ask them to stay back and die
Re: Uwazuruike To Igbo Leaders: You Are Callous by noiseless: 12:55pm On Feb 02, 2012
There is nothing wrong with creating refugee camps for people who lost everything in the north and it's nothing to gloat people about, infact that is what need to be done for the whole good people of the world to see what the government is hiding from them.So this move is very necessary so that many displaced persons and families will be at least provide with some sort of support til things get improved, and UWAZURUIKE should ignore those agents of the system that may come creating confusion and be more  focus also create more awareness so people who do not know about these will know that they will be help and indeed many lives will be saved, and same goes to other christians from other places of boko haram controled part of the country.SO AWARENESS,AWARENESS AND MORE AWARENESS.
