If your context of "outsmarting and surpassing" is all about producing Boko Haram insurgents who do nothing but ravage whatever sanity is left of this country, and of course slaughtering thousands of poor Northerners as recent trends have proven..then I guess I will gladly concede that moral entitlement to you tongue.

The problem with the North as it is with Nigeria and black people as a whole is not that we do not have INDIVIDUAL bright spots & stars.
We do not have the CRITICAL MASS of people to make us relevant in the comity of NATIONS.
A tree does NOT make a forest.

These INDIVIDUAL stars of the North will do well to ensure their people are educated MASSIVELY and in good health.
Just as ONE example, it is very SHAMEFUL that a Bill Gates will be funding the eradication of polio and other diseases in the north & Nigeria when we have these "Lions" shocked shocked
The northern society promotes the concept of serfdom,an economic subjugation and exploitation of a majority by the minority without any hope of movement via social economic strata....Why would some people upset via education and economic empowerment the concept on whose backside these 'fat cats' rode on to be where they are right now?.…Who will allow it?? Dangote? Dantata??..

9jacrip: The Northerners are gradually making statements after statements, this is one. I can predict that some folks from a section of the country would begin to feel very un-comfy with how Northerners are beginning to drop their passive toga on NL. In a nutshell, expect this thread to hurt some emotional creatures who will soon begin throwing tirades to provea point (where there's none) of being better off.

It's all about sentiments and disparities. In Africa, most people will only help you if you are related to them. That mindset has infiltrated the government and that's the main reason we are backward.

A case of people getting top positions in government not because of their exceptional talents, skill or performance but because they know people in authority. The end result is a crowd of charlatans and unqualified persons managing our country.

These socio-economic stratification is also there in the UK, USA etc yet they ensure ALL their children are educated because they understand the need to have an educated WORKFORCE that will enable the rich class to even make more money and have greater comfort.

The list is not of the wealthiest northerners, but industrialists that have created their wealth with sweat and dint of hard work, not by looting public funds or cornering oil blocs. The Lions.

prophetone: 8. Usman Dantata | Anadariya

The young and enterprising Usman Dantata Jr., who is married to Rukaiya Indimi, daughter of multi-billionaire Borno businessman Mohammed Indimi, is the president/CEO of Anadariya Farms. The large poultry farm, which is located in Tiga, Bebeji local government area of Kano State, was started by the late business sage of Kano, Alhaji Usman Sanusi Dantata of the Dantata dynasty, in the 1960s. Anadariya Farms thrived well in poultry produce. For instance, it was noted for exporting poultry birds and eggs to Saudi Arabia twice a week using a Boeing 747 plane.

The CEO came with refined vigour, to ensure the farm maintains a successful track record. He has a background in investment and banking and was a trader of various commodities in Europe before coming back to Nigeria. He also has a certificate in feed production and broiler management obtained in North Carolina. Suffice it to say that he had equipped himself with the necessary training before stepping into the business.

This wealth of experience and pool of relevant knowledge may have been the reason for his decision to expand the services and operations of the farm to include a hatchery, production of broilers and layers, the production of feeds and the processing and sale of poultry products. Anadariya Farms produces above 3, 000 broilers weekly. This is one of Nigeria’s most viable farms, with its growing, diverse agricultural activities.

Interesting Fact - Anadariya is hiring now! http://www.anadariya.com/careers.html

Sorry to say, but it is a question for all of us Nigerians and black people generally. I agree with you that the northern part of Nigeria is particularly more affected by this primitive stu'pidity that is based on short-sighted selfishness & greed.
