Its no wonder you have been confusing yourself and trying to confuse the whole house, 60% poverty rate in the south and 60% poverty rate in Nigeria are two different things. Yet you call an almajiri illiterate undecided

I get your point but she was only contributing to the thread, which is commendable regardless. The intention is to highlight industry and not necessarily infrastructural development, which is no less worthy of celebration in its own right.

Would you mind considering the use of the word- acknowledgement- rather than celebration.
IMHO, that would be more appropriate to avoid showing the mediocrity that we are known for.

NafeesaAA: The Nigerian Bureau
of Statistics puts the percentage
of the southern population living
in absolute poverty at 61%
and a
population of 64.9 million puts
the number of southerners
living in absolute poverty at
39,650,000 as at 2012. That is
about 40 million in the south
going to bed hungry this night.
With the very link posted by a fellow porpagandist to buttress this claim we ironically found out that; The NBS said that relative poverty was
most apparent in the north of the
country, with Sokoto state's poverty
rate
the highest at 86.4%.
In the north-west and north-east of
the
country poverty rates were recorded
at
77.7% and 76.3% respectively,
compared
to the south-west at 59.1%.
....Thereby proving that nafessa's claim is false propaganda as there was no mention of 61% but 59.1 southern poverty and also an overwhelming rate of Northern poverty at an average of 80%-75% thus 8 out of 10 northerners are poor.....comprehendre?

Abti-American University, Yola.

The American University of Nigeria opened its doors to its first students in 2005. Founded by the former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, it is located in north-eastern Nigeria in Yola, the state capital of Adamawa state, the vice president’s home town. Having benefited from the U.S. system of instruction as a young man, Abubakar sought to make this style of education — emphasizing critical thinking, small classes, student participation, problem-solving, a US-style general education program, and an American-trained faculty — available to all qualified young people of Nigeria and, increasingly, to the rest of the world.

Originally named the ABTI American University of Nigeria, the name was simplified to American University of Nigeria following discussions with American University in Washington, D.C. (which AUN exchanges students with). This puts it in conformity with practices of other American Universities outside of the United States, such as the American University of Beirut and the American University of Paris. AUN is the only such institution of higher learning in sub-Saharan Africa.

There have been three presidents in the first years of AUN’s development: Dr. David Huwiler, Dr. Michael Smith, and the current president, Dr. Margee Ensign. Dr. Ensign came to the post having served as dean of the School of International Studies at the University of the Pacific, where she was also the associate provost.

Going by your post, 38 million poor people in the south, 6 out of 10 people, are in absolute poverty and going to bed hungry tonight (that is a massive poverty rate, like the rest of Nigeria). I don't understand how adding 8 out of 10 fellow Nigerians makes you feel any better undecided.

Nobody is happy with the poverty rate of either region, we should strive to decimate it as much as possible, which is why we are highlighting the contribution of northern industrialists and entrepreneurs to job creation and poverty alleviation.

Anyway you are derailing the thread, please desist.

thanks for ur response and i appreciate ur frank but polite reply.i appreciated her in highlighting other well thinking and industrious individuals.

actually i make this particular comment in other threads also when this kind of pics r displayed....i v kinda seen the level of development in more advanced country and it only pains me when we put up snapshots of roads and bridges as a sign that the government is working...You and i know that with the level of funds available, the citizenry deserve so mmuch more than just this....hence my anger

Very recently the Nigerian president led billionaire Nigerians, among whom there are tens of Igbos to raise hundreds of millions of $ to be used to give succor to the victims of insurgency. So i wonder why all these rich northern people with their big profiles here could not donate 90% of the funds for their people i still wonder why looking up-to igbos that just re-bounce back from war to help them cool

you better go find job. these are your mates doing great things, you are here shouting,, i pity you.i pity your parents

buJu234: why can these guys plus the others help save their northern people from poverty

The Northern Nigerian elites have more money but their people are in poverty

The Southern Nigerian elites have less money but their people are in wealth...

can u see people oriented thieves/looters VS me my family only thieves/looters
really you Southerners can lie to yourselves just to make yourselves feel good. "southern elite have less money but their people are in wealth". which people are in wealth? the ones in makoko, ketu, ojota, somolu, and all those slums in the south? those guys probably have the worst standard of living. some of us are well travelled across naija and we know lies when we see them.

I opened all six pages this thread has covered so far.

I feel disappointed at the thoughts and expressions i read here.

I ask myself; are these the voices of the proverbial "leaders of tomorrow"?

I brainstormed on whether or not to comment.

I decided to drop this.

I beg you all my fellow youths to adjust your thinking for the sake of your tomorrow.

I take my leave .

Until you open up, there's no better ways for us to know we have erred. I agreed, i made some hurtful remarks, though with objectivity, but i stand to challenge those who made it a habit to malign the north anytime they deem fit. I am first a Nigerian.

Interesting to see pictures of what the Northern oligarchy are doing with some of the money they stole from the oil wealth of the Niger Delta people. No wonder why they want 'one Nigeria',to carry on their fraud. If this is the best the north has to offer then the people are even more backward than I thought. As an Anambra man,if I put up pictures of the palatial residences of Billionaires from my town Nnewi, these people will jump in fear. If I post pictures of factories from just my town, who ever set up this thread will remove it in shame. Lion my foot!! All they have is a feudal system which encourages a few Rich families while the rest of 10's of millions of them live in abject poverty and delusion. These Northerners have a long long long way to go. Take away oil money and the sea port and everything you see in these pictures will crumble to dust. The Northerners are junior players in the context of Nigeria, they just don't know it yet. That's why they are throwing bombs all over the place because a south-south man is president.
