What a cruel twist of irony, when rebels led by Charles Taylor were butchering Liberians in the early 90s, Nigeria sent down troops to bring peace and stop the deadly destruction of human lives, but when Nigeria is having its security challenges by way of a similar deadly Boko Haram, all that came from Liberia is Ebola, a grave agent of dead! we are indeed our brothers keeper

exxell: Why All These Fuss Over Ebola? Why is the whole Nigeria agog with Ebola news? Why Is Everything on Nairaland now Ebola this, Ebola that? This disease I believe is not here yet on a large scale.... Just few isolated incidences which is under control.

Hope you people know that this is how exploitation begins? Very soon, different anti-Ebola drugs will flood the market, Pastors all over Nigeria will claim to have the cure for Ebola, Native Doctors will now turn to "Doro-Ebola-Destroyer"! This is what will happen soon, believe me.

If I may ask, why are people even afraid? Why are people afraid to die? Is death not a necessary end which must come to all? Even my fellow christians who want to go to heaven and see God, dont want to die! Have you people forgotten the injunction of St Paul im Romans 14:8 "WHETHER WE DIE OR LIVE, WE BELONG TO GOD!"

This is why I have always been an advocate of philosophy study for all. Philosophy will make you not take issues at surface level. It will make you see things others dont see. Take for instance; my brother came to me this morning and was shouting "Brother, take your bath with salt oo. They say it prevents and kills Ebola! I just burst out laughing. He was suprised and asked.. "Bro, why you dey laugh over this serious matter now".... I told him to sit down. When he sat down, I told him;

"Bro, as an analytical Philosopher, I find this your statement pretty nonsensical. Why? If salt truly cures ebola as they advertise, then we need not take any salt again to bath because the human person is a bag of salt in itself. O Yes! If you taste your tears, it is salty. If you taste the mucous from your nose, it is salty. If you taste your sweat due to heat, it is salty. If you taste your blood, it is salty. If you taste the oily dirt from your ear, it is salty and bitter. If you taste your urine, it is salty. And I believe that if your taste your faeces too, it will be salty!

So, if you have been following my line of thought, you will come to understand with me that taking any more salt to bath or to drink is pretty foolish. It will be overdose. God has made us salty enough. O Yes! Mattew 5:13 says and I qoute;

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

So unless you are no longer salty or you lost your saltiness due to living in sin and living a wayward life, you may consider following the crowd of salt bathers and drinkers!

Please stop spreading all these Ebola nonsense all over facebook, BBM, Whatsapp and the internet. Stop being afraid. Fear is the first weapon the enemy uses to attack the children of God. Stop all theses fear and panicking. God is still there for us... O Yes. Psalm 46:10 tells us,

"Be still and acknowledge that I am God"

You can even take up a philosophical fatalist position that "WHATEVER WILL BE, WILL BE. And above all, remember that God is still in charge and he still has power over Ebola. O Yes... Psalm 115:3 says;

"Our God is in the heavens and he has power to do whatever he wills"

FINALLY, I CAN'T VOUCH FOR OTHERS BUT AS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY, WE ARE COVERED BY THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS! And by the word of God which says in Exodus 15:26

"I AM THE GOD THAT HEALETH THEE"!

N.B
The above advice is originally mine alone and represents my views alone. It is not a "copy and paste work". Either take it or leave it! Good Day!

I don't know who you are but may Jehovah God bless you and keep you because you are the only Nairalander that has accurately depicted my thoughts and how I truly feel. I too cannot understand all this panic. Nairaland has nothing to place on its homepage again these days other than ebola news to drive that spirit of fear into the masses. I refuse to be moved, I refuse to panic. I am at peace in my soul because just like you, I am covered with the blood of the lamb, with the blood of Christ Jesus and I abide under the shadow of His wings. Before I leave the house, I anoint myself with holy oil. I have blessed elements - Jacobs water crackers which are yeast free and Ribena - in the home which I take from time to time. I am a child of the Most High living God so my faith in Christ Jesus keeps me going. Let Nigerians - including some of my family members - keep panicking. I just dey sitdon dey look them.

Has Nigeria's president apologised to all the countries where drug dealing and fraudulent Nigerians have been running havoc and killing people with drugs? How many Nigerians are in prisons all over the world? Do you send apologies? Aren't you people the first to say Nigerians should not be judged for the few wrong doers? Now one man act stupid and the president of the country must apologise?

Sawyer came in as a high ranking liberian govt official ,and you expect the Nigerian govt to just strip him bare and subject him to all kinds of tests?
I just discovered that you are botswanese, so i am not surprised.
Afterall that is how Nigerians and other africans are humiliated in that part of africa.

You on the other side are an a$$, as a matter of fact. Yes we treat you anyway we want its our country and you won't find Batswana in Nigeria. Now stop crying and get to work to contain EBOLA otherwise its about to reduce the giant of population to a dwarf of Africa instead of complaining and pointing fingers.

It is obvious that Liberia is not doing enough. I just saw a video of a man on the street sick and asking for help and there was no one to help him. He was there for almost 5 hours before help came. If they were treating this seriously no one would wait 5 hours for a suspected case of Ebola to be quarantined. It's a shame

Right from day 1, I knew that wicked son of satan came on a mission to spread d virus in nigeria. If an ebola patient who is already under surveillance in liberia could sneak his way to nigerian, found himself in a hospital after attacks and still denied that he had no contact with ebola patient when his sis died of d disease, even when he tested positive, refuted the result, burst out of rage and pee on the doctors and nurses, isn't that enough to show that he really wanted to infect the people with d virus? If there were life after death, I will say satan punish his soul till eternity

It does appear that Sawyer deliberately targeted Nigeria. He is reported to have wilfully peed on his carers after he was diagnosed in naija. Payback for ECOMOG, Charles Taylor?

Video Shows Sawyer was Very Ill

It has also emerged that Sawyer looked “terribly ill” and might have known he was infected with the virus before travelling to Nigeria, the Liberian media has reported.

According to a review of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) images at the James Spriggs Payne’s Airport, Monrovia, by Liberian newspaper, The New Dawn, Sawyer, also a naturalised American, looked terribly ill and deliberately avoided contact with people just before boarding the Asky Airline flight that brought him to Lagos.

Describing his behaviour as “strange”, the The New Dawn said Sawyer bore a “sad countenance” like he was troubled and sat alone avoiding bodily contact with other passengers who came close to him at the boarding gate of the James Sprigg Payne’s Airport as he awaited his flight to Lagos.

“His strange behaviour and frequent movement up and down as he eagerly awaited his Asky flight had prompted the security camera operator to focus on him. In the video, Patrick could be seen avoiding physical contact with airport employees and other passengers during the check-in process,” the newspaper wrote.

Airport video footage, according to the report, also showed Sawyer lying flat on his stomach on the floor in the corridor of the airport and seemed to be in “excruciating pain.”

The footage showed Sawyer preventing people from touching him. According to the The New Dawn reporter who reviewed the video, he even snubbed an immigration officer who initiated a friendly gesture of a handshake moments before he boarded the airplane.
FrontPage Africa, another Liberian newspaper, also reported that Sawyer, who was believed to have been infected by his sister, told its reporter shortly before he travelled to Nigeria that he had gone in search of his sister’s husband who ran away after she tested positive to Ebola.

The paper said Sawyer vomited a few times among his friends in Liberia just before heading to the airport and also on the plane. FrontPage Africa’s publisher, Rodney Sieh, later told online news medium, Premium Times by telephone that his paper’s extensive reporting on the matter showed clearly that Sawyer knew he had contracted the Ebola virus before travelling to Nigeria.

“He definitely knew he was sick and it was curious that he still decided to travel,” Sieh said. “His sister had died from the virus and he most likely had contact with her.”

According to FrontPage Africa, after Sawyer became ill on the airplane, he denied to First Consultants’ personnel that he had contact with anyone infected with Ebola despite repeated inquiries after initial tests for Malaria and HIV were negative.
The newspaper said Sawyer however flew into a rage and behaved in a disruptive manner at First Consultants after he was told he had tested positive for Ebola.

Don't be an iddioot! Where did I brag or wish it on anyone else? Please quote me. I am not evil as some of the people commenting here. What I am saying is, leave the Liberians alone they have a lot on their hands. And the apology was not necessary because theses things happen. Is that bragging? Please I know truth is bitter but do not create perversion out of what I am saying. I would never wish EBOLA on my worst enemy let alone a country. Just stop the hypocrisy, one Liberian acted like a loony, as much as you do not want Nigerians painted with one brush, please apply same caretacy to the Liberians.Don't you think they have enough on their hands already? What kind of people are you?

Liberia is one of the 10 poorest country on earth. They are doing everything they can to contain this thing, and they don't have the means to do so. There is no reason to resent Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. She's doing what she can.
Should we black people apologize because AIDS went out of Africa? Come on.
