onatisi: They took over the town, hoisted their flag and appointed an emir ,and they have repelled nigeria army offensive to retake that town 5 times already, and they have been in gwoza for almost 3 weeks now. The simple plain truth is that this boko haram issue is gradually getting out of hand and control

Did you just say they appointed an emir? Amazing. So they have a good number in followership. Then the indigenes are ok. The army would only walk into ambush in this situation just to record more loss. Pls where is the governor of this state. where are the commissioners. There's something very funny about this insurgency, especially in this state. My guess- BH has very good media agents, even in nairaland. Let's stop wasting time on BH victory stories, and move on, cos' the end is near.

DaBullIT:

Don't you mean the whole of the north ? Borno=Maiduguri ~ 3.2 million people , amateur gun totting rebel can kill 15 people with A mag of AK 47 ,

200 can kill 3000 , that's not including the RPGs and tanks , the scope is join us or be killed , average of 800,000 people might join the campaign , that's more than enough for a standard state on its own , analysis in Borno only , even average of 1000 terrorists in coordinated attack can wreak world class havoc on the lives and moral of people , They have police uniforms now , they have army fatigues , they have armored tanks and armored personnel vehicles probably ,

Since boko haram roam free without challenge , they can surround a city or town , mount checkpoints , there and then , they control the people , you don't join you die , so what choice will innocent people have ? Newly overrun police camp converts to boko haram camp , shooting range and training.

If they achieve 8000 well trained Insurgents , do the maths , Real army or police checkpoints don't stand a chance. This may sound like movie plot or paranoia episode ,but its quite possible and might happen if Jona continues sleeping , Boko Haram's confidence has been boosted and will destroy North or transform if to caliphate and soon after there'll be sneak attacks or even full fledged assaults /onslaught on other parts of the country even breaking up can't stop them now because of their experience and then you can change the name of a location , state or country you can not move the earth /soil from its position
if ur analysis is correct ,what it means is that nigeria is sitting on nuclear time bomb. God help us.

you have been saying bh end is near for almost a year now.and everyday soldiers are been slaughtered, maimed. Women have become widows and children have become fatherless and orphans .the simple question is when will their end come?the end is near means an indefinite period. Nigerians are beginning to get tired of all these useless and toothless assurances. Soldiers are complaining to bbc that they won't fight unless they are better equipped, mutiny in military barracks due to non challant attitude of army superiors, weapons are been taken by the insurgents without any resistance and yet you say their end is near. Since I was little I have heard of people, groups, communities that cannot be injured by bullets, if they really exist can they be nice enough to help tackle this menace as it is becoming obviously difficult for our army, these army men are normal people with children, wives, brothers, sisters, relatives etc. Just thinking though

The units affect were two Mobile Police(MOPOL) units from Nasarawa, Gombe and MOPOL 50 from Abuja. Two other units from Zamfara were also at the college during the attack.

Boko Haram militants earlier today invaded a prestigious  Nigerian Police  training college in Gwoza, Borno state.

The militants numbering 200 arrived the  Police Mobile Force Training School  with five armored tanks earlier seized from the Nigerian army units that tried unsuccessfully to dislodge the sect from Gwoza in the last two weeks.

Several of the trainees were reportedly killed and injured by the militants. A good number of the trainees also fled to the mountains nearby while some of the trainees managed to escape to Adamawa state.

A police source told Saharareporters that the militants blew up an armored tank stationed at the gate of the training college before gaining entrance into the school and wreaking havoc.

Boko Haram took over Gwoza some two weeks ago, hoisted its flag and appointed an Emir to administer the strategic northeastern township. Attempts by the Nigerian army to retake the town has been repelled by the militants in deadly counter attacks that have claimed several Nigerian soldiers.

New efforts at mobilize troops to march on Gwoza has been bogged by mutiny by troops and their families who simply refuse to take orders from their superiors to take on Boko Haram fighters as they express concern that their weaponry cannot match those of Boko Haram.

First, i have a problem with the police source, who was able to ascertain the exact number of militants(200), the number of tanks, how they were acquired n where, the attack mode, the response, the mutiny status of our troops, our weaponry.
Secondly, i might be wrong, but there's something fishy about all this. There are lines between the lines. Take a deep breath and read again. Even the very smart can be easily swept off. The Big Question is "WHAT IS THE PURPOSE FOR ALL THIS".

The problem is the government is not holistic in its approach to terrorism in Nigeria.
If they want Gwoza fine! Make announcement for all innocent citizens of that town vacate the town within a specified period. After which the Nigerian military should destroy the entire town, I mean bombard the whole town. Simple!

The superiors, Army Commanders, Generals etc should march on to Gwoza with the same weapons since there's no plan for upgrading inspite of appeals and pleas.

If nothing is done fast gradually we may have an Isis like situation in Nigeria.. where people will be slaughtered on the streets and more women and children abducted..its already happening..This is how it starts gradually they are defeating and striking fear in the hearts of our armed forces and if they can over run the armed offices..Then who will defend the country the innocent civilians will then be massacred especially christains and before UN intervenes half the xtain population would have been wiped and the worst that could happen will be xtain men mobilizing themselves into resistance groups to save there own lives..Then we have a religious war and its all chaos.

In war situations there's what the military termed 'desperate attack'. Desperate attacks as the word imply described the situation where the enemy who is seriously on the defensive tries to create the impression that it's really on the offensive. They are willing to go the extra mile to do the unimaginable, like attack a barracks for instance. These are strategies used by the enemy to divert bombardments from themselves and buy time. That is exactly what is playing out in Nigeria's fight against Boko Haram lately.
pure, undiluted crap.

There is virtually no single problem in the Muslim/Arab world that is not caused by Christians and their Jewish masters. From slave trade to the middle passage massacres and drowning of millions of Africans, from the annihilation of nearly a million native American Indians, from the genocide and murder of hundreds of thousands native Australian Pygmies, from the Nazi genocide of the 1940s, from the murder of hundreds of thousands as a result of atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, from the genocide committed during the Korean wars, from the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, from the genocide in palestine to the so called war on terror history has shown that Christians are the most violent peopleon earth. Their violence has robbed this this earth of over a hundred million people. The ISIS you mentioned came as a result of the destabilization of Iraq and now Syria by the same westerners who equally enslaved your grand parents and colonized your land. Israel is not only a terror state but a rogue and an illegitimate entity established on a stolen land that has single handedly disobeyed and disreregarded more international laws and United Nations resolutions than than all other countries of the world put together. No past Israeli leader that has never been convicted of a crime by an Israeli court. These idiots are even proud that they killed Jesus.
The entire world went to war to save these guys from Hitler but the genocide in Gaza has proved Hitler as a merciful killer. The right for self determination is enshrined in the UN charter. Gaza is a refugee camp populated by people whose villages were destroyed by the criminal and border less state of Israel and they have been under blockade for years. Tens of thousands of Palestinian youths are languishing in Israeli jails without trial for decades. They have been barred from travelling for studies or medical purposes and those who went out are banned from coming back. All their infrastructure has been destroyed. So what more reasons does one need to see that Palestinians are marked for extermination.
