Hello guys. I mailed my advisor asking him to mail me a scanned copy of my I-20 when it's being issued before they send it by courier. I did that because of the info I got from here regarding that. To my suprise, he responded by stating that "universities that release scanned copy of I-20 would be in violation of the SEVP policy and would be opening themselves to legal recourse."



I wanna ask if any one has gotten same responce.

I got the same response from my school. The I20 form later came to me but the interval between the day I got it and the day I have to resume was too slim. I had to defer the admission. I will advise u to wait for the I20 form or apply for extension of resumption date.

We all know most are intending immigrants, but you need to clear those intentions off the VO even as they are aware you're never coming back till that GC touch your palms.

There are lot of schools that waive TOEFL and GRE, usually mid and low schools. You can search yourself, the information is there www.google.com.

Wish you all the best. But know better that US schools ain't childs play. They will squeeze out the best potentials in you and I sure know you would be glad they did.

djmakson, since you're going for fall, you don't need to rush things. You'll surely meet up. All you need do is to save some cash so you would receive your documents via courier like tnt, Dhl, ups or fedex.

You'll need to get a job first on campus to be able to obtain an SSN. You'll get it at the Social Security Administration (SSA) Office.

Basically you'll need an SSN to obtain a state ID. But in the absence of an SSN, you'll need to obtain a letter of waiver from the SSA office in lieu of the number. The state ID can be obtained from the MVA office in your state.

Depending on your state, you don't need an SSN to get a State ID. You'd need your I-20(Signed), I-94, Nigerian Passport, School ID and cash for the State ID. Your photo will be taken at the DMV.
