From experience I'll say go for an international certificate.

As a first Degree Holder in Geography and Environmental Management, and a Masters in Environmental Technology, I intend going the HSE way; careful observation and x-raying of ideas, I intend starting with the Nebosh HSEP1.

Please house, where can I run the NEBOSH Health Safety and Environment for Process Industries (HSEPI) Course here in Lagos?

Two training institutes I have communicated with, both have their centres in Port Harcourt, Rivers State (Which is off my schedule)

Any kind response, will be highly appreciated.

i work in an HSE training and certification firm, we are based in port Harcourt
but have training centers in Lagos and Abuja.

hello ALL in line with improving one's self is it logical for a spcial science graduate to pursue a certification in HSE and will such development assist in career development? because i see hse as a course done by mostly engineering and science graduate feedbak would be greatly appreciated

Hello my senior HSE colleaques... I just finished my NYSC program now .. I have obtained a proficiency certificate in General HSE and level 3 from Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals. NEBOSH IGC is 295,000 (two hundred and ninety five thousand naira) our office is in portharcourt but we do have an affiliate training center in ikoyi, Lagos.

you become a safety professional when you complete the 132-hour OSH Academy safety professional programme and get certified. you can choose to do shorter programme with fewer courses and become a safety suprvisor, manager etc.

I must say its quite hard to break into oil and gas as an HSE officer... Getting certifications have proven not to be enough anymore, they also want experience where I don't know where they want you to get it from, mayb our mamas kitchen.LOL. Do u know that getting Msc. In OHSE from ips uniport will cost u more than 1million naira? I just found out after concluding my training with NISP. As for me I'll keep looking for safety jobs with ma little certifications o.. God dey sha

I must commend the good job. I stumbled upon this thread a few hours ago and I stayed glued to the end. I just wrote my NEBOSH IGC (June 12th) and expecting my result by end of August. I have just concluded my masters in Earth and Environmental Science while my first degree was in Biochemistry. My aim has always been to break into the O & G sector or other companies with very strong safety culture hence my going the NEBOSH route.

I'm presently searching for a safety officer/specialist job in Nigeria and I would be very appreciative if someone can post or direct me to links of such vacancies. Thank you.
