I love u for this statement.....
thats how the muslims dealt with xtians in Jos ....not until 2008 the xtian learnt how to carry weapons and they dismantled d islamic empire coming out from jos.......now there is relative peace there......dis muslim areas were dismantled to d ground...opposite premiee, yanshanu, half of nass gwong,, angwan eukuba junction ..till today muslims don't near these places.....
Muslims need to be treated the way isreali do to them by all countries....

So what you are saying in essence is that the government is covertly stock-piling arms for the Christians from the south?

Without the knowledge of the Christians?

Through the back door?

Breaking all international statues and regulations in the process?

To foment more violence and endanger the lives of the people?

Let's be honest this was either a money-laundering deal gone wrong or the usual tactics that the present government has been using all along to destabilize the North and the entire country (or both actually).

There's a thick and rancid stench that fills the air and it stinks to the doorsteps of the presidency.

This is no time for partisanship but time to speak out.

This is the time to protect the defenseless with policies and agreements not by guns or bombs as the case has been in recent times.

My guy you really understand the equation. This bling bling pastor has tainted the image of Christians in this country all because of money.

Gorrbachev: Wen light unexpectedly shines on murkiness, those exposed by the stinging rays often berate the light rather than regret the muck. That is the plight of Ayo Oritsejafor whose private jet was identified as the vessel impounded by the South African authorities for ferrying $9.3m cash into their country. A statement from Eagle Air admitted Oritsejafor's interests in the aircraft, but said it leased the plane to Green Coast which in turn acknowledged hiring the plane out for the trip to South Africa.

Unable to shake off his connection to the plane, Oritsejafor has resorted to abuse and vilification. Were he more reflective, he would be pondering how, of all the private jets available in Nigeria, it was his that came to be involved in a covert arms purchase scandal. Would he have managed any objectivity if the plane involved happened to belong to a prominent person of another faith or political persuasion?

Since abuse is not argument and is incapable of displacing fact, Oritsejafor may care to answer if the jet involved in the scandal is the same one that was "donated" to him in 2012? Did he register it as a commercial aircraft or is the plane illegally moonlighting as one? Has he ever reflected on the impropriety of mixing his religious role with politics? Having strayed into politics, and an irresponsible variant at that, can he expect the veneration enjoyed by his predecessors such as Cardinals Olubunmi Okogie and John Onaiyekan? Why is he the first CAN leader to provoke pitiful mirth and amusement when he is not being derided as a tragedy, a sort of Ichabod, desperate to separate glory from a revered body? Amidst his jitters, Oritsejafor must look beyond the bling to ask himself if it was any of the individuals he abused yesterday that asked him to make his aircraft available for monkey business, or get himself involved in the politics of division.

It is pertinent that we invite the Federal Government to reflect on its role in this episode. Our country needs to bolster its military and security forces with the material resources they need to defeat insurgency and restore security to every inch of its territory. This would require arms imports. But should Nigeria violate the arms export regulations of other countries in this endeavour? Should the FG recklessly impair and jeopardise diplomatic relations by conducting covert arms purchases in friendly countries without the consent of their governments? Such conduct invariably leads to suspicions that such covert arms procurement may not be for purposes of national security.

This instance of arms procurement outside official channels amidst an escalating insurgency must concern every patriot. In his House of Commons statement last week, Mallam El Rufai had alluded to the clear implications of the likely link between governmental murkiness and the escalation in the insurgency. The government has long tried to explain away its incompetence in upholding security by blaming insurgency on the major opposition party. But it is becoming increasingly clear to many that this insurgency is benefitting the ruling party and the incumbent president by providing them a pretext to postpone elections and, at the minimum, disenfranchise large swathes of the population that have never supported the PDP or voted for Jonathan.

Mallam Nasir El Rufai urges every Nigerian to be vigilant in these troubled times. The tragedy of mindless terror should not be allowed to become an endless catastrophe because of narrow political calculations.

Rather than assume that because he owns it,he must know what the renters did with it while they were renting it?

He owns a private jet not commercial Jet. Asside from the obvious implications (Taxation, circumventing normal airport protocols et al) surrounding the wrongful use of jets registered as private to be then used for commercial interest, Ignorance is simply not an excuse.

The Ayo dude is bleeped no matter what angle you might want to view this from

The reason why i dont like commenting on this forum is the way people here see and approached issues.. This makes it so difficult for us to have a common voice, how can we move forwar as a country when u are either tribalistic, Greedy, Religious etc. Every of our action or reasoning is either motivated polically, Religiously or by tribalism.

Yes I am.

However, I have had the privilege of meeting good and bad people from North and South of Nigeria and even from outside our shores.

As far as i know it, you have good people, evil minded people and the weak of mind who are easily manipulated.

It is one thing for people to be of one faith, yet it is another for them to follow their religious teachings with a pure heart.

Religion may have it's role but humanity supersedes in my opinion.

Untill we have a common goal that we want Nigeria to be good and decide to vote credibility not tribalism, political party or relgion, then we are not going anywhere.
But is very unfortunate that the seed of hatred, lack of trust has been sow in our life.

Abagworo: http://silverbirdtv.com/news/catholic-church-nigeria-withdraws-christian-association-nigeria

The Catholic Church of Nigeria yesterday temporarily withdrew its membership from the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Their reason? That CAN under Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has been compromised. Also because of some uncouth statements by some Christian leaders, and the use of money in CAN elections and several court cases involving state chapters of CAN.

Spokesperson of the Church, Rev. Fr. Dr. Cornelius Omonokhua, said:

“You just can’t save people who are drowning, if you are drowning with them. CAN is being dragged into partisan politics thereby compromising the ability to play its true role as conscience of the nation and the voice of the voiceless. We will be happy if CAN leadership can show moderation. Common sense dictates that they do that.”

The Catholic church said they would review their withdrawal from CAN after the annual meeting of the Conference of Bishops in February.

Meanwhile CAN has reacted to CCN’s withdrawal, calling it good riddance. A rep accused the Christian denomination of arrogance, saying they were merely angry because the presidency of the association had moved to another bloc of the group.

Spokesperson for the 19 Northern chapters of CAN, Sunny Oibe, told News:

“There are some certain elements in the leadership of CAN led by Cardinal John Onaiyekan because he lost CAN Presidency to Oritsejafor who has a lot of achievements.

There is no need for anybody to lose sleep over the threat by Catholics to pull out of CAN because without them CAN will still continue. The constitution of CAN makes provision that membership can be terminated by any group that is misbehaving or any group can also terminate their membership.

“Why is it that when Catholics were in the leadership of CAN, every bloc supported them, but now because power has changed hands, they are threatening to pull out and causing confusion?

“They have been agitating that the Presidency of CAN must come from the South. They are appendage of PDP and PDP themselves. They are known for double standards. A man of God should not be double speaking.”

Sorry to say I am an anioma guy....
Igbos make up d larger percentage of catholics in nigeria....and d victims of bomb blasts nd church attacks in d country mainly are d catholics....so u can't solve insurgency by just praying nd eating communion every sunday.....
Insurgency is a political/religious problem , so u must involve in politics to get better protection of christian citizen in d country.......

The catholics went out on a crusade because spain ,macedonia ,jerusalem was conquered by islam nd dier churches burnt down... Is dis in d bible , is dis nt political now...

omoalaro: 17th September,

2014PRESS RELEASE:CASH-LOADED JET AND WEAPONS DEAL: IT IS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST MUSLIMS

Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor was alleged to have admitted ownership of a private jet seized last weekend by South African authorities. The aircraft was stashed with $9.3 million in cash meant for arms purchase. In the same vein, the Federal Government (FG) issued a statement yesterday admitting ownership of the cash. Oritsejafor has sought to extenuate the deal by claiming that the jet was hired out by Eagle Air in which the pastor himself has “residual interest”. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) is alarmed by this scandalous development. We have every reason to reject FG’s explanation and it is hereby rejected. Government is being economical with the truth. We suspect a grand conspiracy against Nigerian Muslims in this latest revelation. Nigerian Muslims are enveloped with apprehension. All the ingredients of a plot are here for those who care to look beyond their noses. In a country in which two religions are most prominent and are hot rivals of each other, here is the national leader of a religious group who also happens to be the president’s kinsman, an undisguised Muslim hater, a man with a belligerent
disposition towards his Muslim neighbours, a man who has been threatening hell and brimstone over the Boko Haram saga. Tie this to the Israeli connection, a country well known for its anti-Muslim and mass murder propensities. It raises more questions than answers. For instance, was the intended arms purchase really meant for the Nigerian Armed Forces? What is the guaranty that it was not meant for Niger Delta militants, or Christian crusaders masquerading as Boko Haram? Afterall, under-the-table assistance for Boko Haram has been noticed in the past. Where did the arms and food drops for Boko Haram by helicopters come from? Only the Israelis are capable of doing that. MURIC is shocked by the huge amount involved: $9.3 million! Conservatively, $1m is N163m. $9.3m is therefore N1,514,502,583.61 at the current exchange rate of N163 to $1. It is very disturbing for this to be happening in a country bedeviled by serious security challenges bordering on religious rivalry and ethnic jingoism. There is definitely something sinister about all these. We assert that Nigerian Muslims are not safe any longer. We are not safe in the hands of Israeli military advisers breathing down the neck of the Nigerian government and encouraging it to arm the Christians to the teeth. The fate of Nigerian Muslims is therefore not certain. We have lost confidence in FG and its security agencies, particularly with the involvement of Israel. Islamic scholars are disappearing at will all over the country. Recruitment exercises into the security outfits favour Christians even in Muslim dominated areas. President Jonathan has just concluded a national conference whose composition was lopsided and in favour of Christians. FG relies heavily on Israel, a well-known anti-Muslim country for its security matters. Palpable fear of religious cleansing has therefore gripped Muslims. Whole Muslim communities are already being wiped out in the North East under the guise of ‘Boko Haram’. Just two months ago, 34 Muslims who were followers of Shaykh Ibrahim Alzakzaky were massacred by soldiers in Zaria and nothing has been heard of it. MURIC calls on the National Assembly to save Nigeria from total disintegration. This jet and cash story is a scandal of monumental proportion and it must not be swept under the carpet. The National Assembly must intervene in order to calm nerves. This is not the hand of Esau and the voice of Jacob. It is the hand of President Jonathan and the voice of Oritsejafor. There is an unholy union here. An aircraft owned by a war-mongering and current national president of CAN, the cash is being claimed by a Christian-led, Muslim-repressing government, there is more to this than meets the eye. We are no longer safe. MURIC demands the termination of all security deals with the Israelis in Aso Rock, the seat of government. It is too dangerous to involve a country like Israel, an anti-Muslim country in the security matters of a country like Nigeria, deeply polarized by religious sentiments. Only a government with an anti-Muslim agenda will do such a thing. It is time for the Israelis to be kept at bay regarding key security issues in Nigeria. We advise President Jonathan to change his tactics, to integrate Muslims into his government, to stop the political marginalization of Muslims, to review the Christian-loaded recruitment into the security agencies, to probe the disappearance of Islamic scholars and the killing of Muslims in Zaria and to balance the sharing of the dividends of democracy between Christians and Muslims.  We warn that the lopsided recruitment into the security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army in the past three years, smacks of a more sinister plot to systematically wipe out Nigerian Muslims through extra-judicial killings. We draw the attention of the international community to acts of pro-Christian favouritism and anti-Muslim practices of President Jonathan. The Nigerian leader is deliberately dividing his citizens along religious lines. MURIC affirms that it seeks peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims. We are prepared to live with our neighbours. We urge those fanning the embers of war and amassing weapons to remember the plight of Liberia, Congo, Sierra Leone, Bosnia Herzegovina, etc. The ravages of war, the sufferings of millions of innocent young and old are better imagined than experienced. Finally, we appeal to Muslims throughout Nigeria to allow the National Assembly to wade into the matter. Meanwhile, we charge them to remain calm and law-abiding.

Professor Ishaq Akintola,
Director,Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC)

Professor Ishaq Akintola is a disgrace to the Yoruba race. This is a man who has sold his birthright to the Northern Muslim establishment headed by the Sultan of Sokoto. That a so-called learned Yoruba son will repeatedly come forward postulating absurd theories in defence of Northern Islamic excesses like terrorism and early child marriage leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I am in no doubt that the paper trail for the funding of extremist organisations such as that headed by this reprobate Professor goes all the way to theocracies like Saudi Arabia and Iran. Only in Nigeria do we get such brainwashed zealots as Professor Akintola and Ayo Oritsejafor who mindlessly speak in defence of religions and practices which, after all is said and done, are two foreign religions imported to our country by Europeans and Arabs. Nigerians need to free themselves of mental slavery. This is 2014.

The good news is that all these are happening at a point where our exxistence as a country and a people is being threatened. I have always maintained that the champions of bokoHaram, insurgency and enemies of the State are the same powerbrokers and those @ the corridors of power in alliance with their friends spread across every facet of the Nigerian Society. I do not know while till today the Presidency and the Security Agencies have not invited Ayo Bling Oritsejafor, Management of Eagles Air and others involved for questioning to effectively determine the degree of their culpability or otherwise which wll serve as a prelude to arrest and prosecution on charges of treason, terrorism and gun-running.
The history of Ayo Orisejafo as a notorious armed robber before his 360' conversion should be a concern. It is a shame that the institution of CAN, the DSS, and the Presidency has been denegrated to the lowest ebb of shame...
May God help us!!!

Let's follow your reasoning....

You mean the government of Nigeria is funding a guerrilla war against its Northern citizens?

You mean you can actually stake your life that this wasn't a money laundering scheme?

You mean the government has no better way of transacting an armory deal?

You mean it is totally irrelevant what international statutes are concerning trade of arms?

You mean you are in the know as to what the true intents of such an 'under the table' deal was?

You mean there's nothing like due process in purchase of armory?

You mean the Nigerian military doesn't have credible procurement people?

You mean if the plane had belonged to an Ibrahim or Mustafa we would be having this discussion?

You mean you can vouch with your life that this deal was in the best interest of the Nation?

I'm totally flummoxed by any kind of reasoning that can support such a gross disregard of guidelines, international treaties while breaking the Laws of the land of other nations.

Out of curiosity, I would like the South African authorities to actually look into the number of times the plane, the Israeli broker and anyone connected with that deal has made trips into the country in the last three years.

I wouldn't be surprised if more deals are revealed.

If a piece of armory the size of an airplane we bought from Russia is missing what makes you think guns and bullets with no serial numbers wouldn't go missing? After all, they were never accounted for in the first place.

Concerning the impoverished nature of many parts of the North, I agree that their leaders are to blame but if that is justification for causing mass murder and brigandage and a continuation of neglect then I think it's best a trial is prepared for a president who tortures its own citizens.

None of us has a true picture about what that money in the plane deal was about. However, we do know that international conventions and the Nigerian policy on a cashless society were broken and it is an indication of a Nation and leader that has no regard for the rule of Law and what it claims to promote.

It leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of every law abiding citizen of the country and would reflect in how we are treated at airports in foreign lands as if we haven't suffered enough ignominy.

In a country in which two religions are most prominent and are hot rivals of each other, here is the national leader of a religious group who also happens to be the president’s kinsman, an undisguised Muslim hater, a man with a belligerent disposition towards his Muslim neighbours, a man who has been threatening hell and brimstone over the Boko Haram saga. We warn that the lopsided security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army in the past three years, smacks....Nig has only bt 1enemy wich is bokoharam nd nt xtians ok!

kokoA: You can never compare the respect these bishops command worldwide with what you pastor gets in Nigeria.. Can El'rufai, GEJ or anybody in Nigeria address bishop Onaiyekan, Cardinal Okogie, bishop Akinola, bishop mba, etc like the way they address this current CAN president? No! This is because these men respect themselves and stay out of politics as much as possible, they only offer their words of advice when necessary and everybody (irrespective of religion) respect them. Unlike the current president who shamelessly announce to the whole world that he supports GEJ/PDP.. I'm a christian but I will speak my mind when I see wrong.

And what has their acquired respect done to alleviate/eradicate the oppression of christians in nigeria over the many years they headed CAN? Oritsejafor is the only CAN president that has given nigerian christians a voice which had initially gone extinct when the catholics headed CAN.
With the constant attacks and killing of christians in the north by muslim fulani murderers, muslim almajiris and islamist terrorist groups, i'd expect that all christians be united in this trying time rather than be divided by sheer envy & denominational differences because a divided house can never stand. Just about 2 days ago, some christian villages were attacked by fulani muslim raiders killing 47 hapless christians in kad. state. And in case you all dont know, most of the villages being attacked in borno state by bokoharam islamist group are christian villages, leaving behind trails of christians blood. And this islamists dont differentiate catholics from pentecostals or protestants; they kill all. A word, they say is enough for the wise.

Trust me since fg said money belongs to dem...den u have no case against dem..
u know nothing abt covert operations .....advance countries like israel nd iran understands dis.....
Right now no former head of state, advance military personel,, retired generals has condemned this because they knew d meaning of d world covert operations...people critizing ryt now ate just d twitter boyz...kenyamo, rufai, ...
From logical reasoning sa authorities are no longer pushing d issues since.fg claimed ownership , even others foreign government kept mute abt it,.even presstv puys it dis way...2nigerian nd an israeli detained during covert military operation....so stop hiting d polity as if u gat a point to make...u av known....
Saudi arabia funds dier military from d black market and d mostly with israeli....
Weapons in d black market are much cheaper and mostly done in cash.....
there is no black market in d world without an isreali or american or rusia dis is d facts

barcanista: The good news is that all these are happening at a point where our exxistence as a country and a people is being threatened.
May God help us!!!
chisos!so he orisa man na notorious army robber before?kai christaindom and christains have suffered

berem: do you know he banned my alternate moniker till 2106 for flouting rule number 19? Even after sending him 5 PMs explaining I was only joking since my main moniker was not serving a ban. He refused to unban the moniker. Anyway,I have opened another moniker similar to the one he banned. I hope he will still be alive till 2106 when the ban elapses.
You don't mean it. 2016 or 2106 If the latter, then some people are just wicked. sad

Very wicked super-mod. Even after proving to him that I was right,he refused to move a finger. He can have the moniker for all I care. After all, opening of monikers on nairaland is still free!
