I agree to this narrative, but for some reason the IGR doesn't reflect the wealth of the state at all. The IGR from Onitsha alone is enough to shoot it up to second behind lagos state. So, I believe there is a huge potential if the governor can create a proper tax collecting system.

Imagine Eastern Shop and Roban Stores stayed in Enugu since far back and couldn't open other outlets in other Igbo States until Shoprite and co came and took everything from them.

Eastern businesses are lagging behind so much in national and global platform, Innoson and Ibeto need to challenge thise handicap no matter how small they appear they should first list on the exchange so that people will start seeing them as a corporate entity.

Partisan squabbles aside, Imo has all that it takes to be commercially viable state. They comprise a highly educated and liberal people from what I see, and have a large population to boot.

They need a capitalist orientation to spearhead their potential. EVERY state in Nigeria deserves a workable piece of everything that makes it marketable....from commerce to tourism to industry.

A formidable and united East is the way to go.

Anambra State should also work on improving it's profile for tourists. Cultural and natural landmarks such as Ogbunike cave and Igbo-Ukwu are there but where I think we can hit things big is in shopping, retail and entertainment.

We should spend time revamping the landscape to improve aesthetics....and devote funds towards something grand, like building the largest shopping mall in Africa and guaranteeing the lowest prices there....localizing production will help greatly. We can source accessories such as belts and shoes from Aba and create our factories here.

As an aside, I'm wondering why we don't have a booming fashion industry here in the East.

The reason why Lagos is ahead of Anambra is because of systematic conspiracies to render Igboland useless.

Anambra need to invest in world class projects like daulizing of roads, tarring of inner streets, building drainages, et al. We need to arrest braindrain first before trying to lure back those runaway brothers.

Thank you dear, this is what am telling people, No need increasing population, if you create enabling environment people will automatically migrate. Do you see how Akwa Ibom now is the hottest state, many companies are opening branches there but the government didn't go about asking people to increase population.

Anambra State need to make the state conducive and watch the population skyrocket like we are seeing now.
Look at the rate Anambra State is growing without a seaport, imagine Anambra will get a seaport, airport, refinery and more private universities or bank head offices and see people from other West Africa countries trooping down.

No need for increase in population, if there are jobs and opportunities the population will automatically increase in geometric progression.

We need more people moving into Anambra State, more jobs, more offices, more companies.

A lot of Ndi Anambra that live abroad once lived in ENUGU and they still have their families there and that's where the higher exchange is coming from. I know lots of Anambrarians who send money to their relatives at ENUGU.
A lot of Anambra intelligentsia who dominated the old Anambra civil service workforce moved abroad after the war but their family never left...Example,Okadigbo,Okigbo family,Achebe family,Adiche family,Ojukwu family,Azikiwe family,Akunyili family and the rest.
