nice write up, but I believe it's not easy; most graduates have dreams of starting a career in the field they studied. secondly, finding finance to fund a business ain't easy and even though you get the finance, the enabling environment may not be there. In Nigeria, it's the survival of the fittest. 2 Likes |

its not easy to be a graduate, at least let them enjoy the bragging right. seriously am in total support of graduates having extra skills as they may fall back at it. since, the with collar jobs are not forthcoming. Am a perfect example, a caterer and a graduate. 2 Likes |

That reminds me of a graduate wu is selling akara in one of our hostels at ife. D funniest part is dat d man did nt study food and nutrition, food sci n tech, or family n consumer science. If am nt mistaking,i tink he studied philosophy. Only God knws ao much he takes home evry nite. 3 Likes |

The point the op Is trying to make Is That graduates should try to think outside the box when It comes to earning a livelihood especially when white collar jobs are not forthcoming. Nobody expects You as a graduate to go and Start frying akara or cooking moimoi under a tree as many people are implying here but creativity and packaging Is the point. There Is nothing Bad in getting a relatively décent shed where people can sit to have a meal. Some people even visit companies who dont have cafeterias with proposals to supply the workers with a well packaged lunch and supply meals and pasteries during meetings and social events. The mind Is a very créative weapon if Ur willing and ready to use it 5 Likes |

The Politheivians are still to be blamed, how on earth can you expect someone who had spent close to millions of naira just to bag a degree to start selling moimoi or learn a trade whereas the society had been naturally well ordered. These are some of the many lies they sell to us. 1 Like 1 Share |

KingsJohnson:I hear u Mummy, graduates shouldn't depend on white collar jobs bt be an employer of labour, if dat is d summary of ur write up, a graduate cnt be an employer of labour in a sinking economy, owk let's assume dat we shouldn't depend on what governent can do for bt what we cn do for the government, good and fine, such ''belief'' wll materialize in a country whereby government have provided enough social amenities, security, stead power supply, balanced and steadily growing economy, these are the basic things that wll nt make the Nigerian's graduate to be '''poke-nosing'' or '''chucking''' eyes for white collar jobs. I'm open up for correction[s] frm anybody. 2 Likes |

Another thing is going for a 2nd degree just to have a better chance of getting employed. The truth is that, the above should be secondary and to know more about your discipline should be the koko. ...not that I agree with all the op's point anyway. EDITED You don't depend solely on what a white collar job pays you, truss me! a man gotta invest! |

KingsJohnson: 1st of all d main reason of getting a job is to practice wat u studied at d university not abt money,DAT y dey call u graduate trainee n dey pay u change.if u av a dream u won't work for money. Cos experience bring money If u knw wat u doing. Dere is no point for a carpenter apprentice to involve in tailor.my dear if not for d bad Nigerian system. Dere is not in like sellin moi moi cos u want to make money. D reason of being a professional is to actualize ur dream. Am a civil Engr n I am practising my profession. For y'all DAT read micro biology n u working in a bank. I advice u to get capital n equip a lab were u can enjoy ur practise. Tank u 4 Likes |
