The truth is that d ragtag boko boiz use the same as primary weapon. If you know about guns,u'll know that the AK47 is a very powerful weapon,but has a big disadvantage in terms of accuracy.

Winning a war largely depends on the edge you have against ur enemy. Why can't the military upgrade their weapons to give a slight edge against these animals? I'm sure we have military technologists in our different arms of military. Why can't they attempt to design new model weapons?...the model of that weapon the soldier is carrying was designed by a Russian army officer; Kalashnikov in 1947. If a Russian can design that in 1947, how come a Nigerian can't design sumthn that is at least slightly better in 2014?

Ak47 is very powerful and even has more muzzle velocity than most assault rifles that are more recent,but still,it doesn't have an edge.

A person carrying M4/M4A1 can hit a target carrying an AK47 from a distance in which the AK47 would miss by up to a foot from its target. Even the Israeli tavor can compete with ak47 when it comes to range efficacy.

We keep depending on other countries to provide everything for us.now nobody wants to sell to Nigeria.
