If this mayhem happened in PH, everyone would say Ijaw militants again but these Hausa militants have killed and plundered a town and no single arrest was made. SHAME!!!

The police have arrested 500 individuals with weapons. Check your facts and stop misleading readers. Emotional arguments not based on facts lie beneath many of the current crises we are facing in Nigeria. Your present attitude will only contribute to the problem

I haven't seen any major paper report this, please post a link so i can confirm this
Re: Jos Killings How Do We Stop This Madness? by onyengbu1(m): 1:35pm On Dec 02, 2008
major paper reporting it doesnt confirm that Nigeria Police can arrest 500 men at a time.

They will need about 5 amoured personnel carrier with a threat to shoot on any sign of movement from the suspects.

Have you seen policemen arrest people in a group like that?

Unless you are telling me that those mallams are too stupid to know when to run.

The Plateau State Gover-nment has ordered security operatives comprising men of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Mobile Police to ‘shoot on sight’ anybody fomenting crisis or defying the curfew order imposed on the state capital, Jos. The order was the government’s latest response to end the riot in Jos, which death toll, as at yesterday evening, had risen to 350.
Giving the order yesterday morning following fresh killings that started at the Tinna Junction and Mando areas of the city, the state Governor, Da Jonah Jang, said the state government would not sit back and watch thugs wreck more havoc on innocent citizens.
THISDAY also gathered that security operatives yesterday intercepted about 500 men armed with weapons on their way to Jos. THISDAY could not however independently verify the figure.
The arrest was a sign that the warring groups are regrouping.
Jang also said his action was informed by his on-the-spot assessment of the situation, particularly in the affected areas.

JosBoy4Lif:

Yes That can happen. But it did not happen in this instant. The Hausa muslims in Jos North will always support an ANPP candidate.

Where did you get the notion that the Hausa Muslims are more in number in Jos North?. I was born in Jos and I grew all my life in Jos - from my primary to my university level and can confidently tell you that there is no truth in that statement. These people are only concentrated in a small part of the local government-  Angwan Rogo, Some part of Nasarawa, Angwan Rimi, Some part of Alikazure, some part of Gangere and a few others.  You know why the king of Jos is called the Gbom Gwom Jos?

Please dont try to lay claims here. What you should be talking of is how this kind of situation can be averted in future. Unfortunately its the main indigenes that suffer the consequences of this riots. The hausas can always go back to there home town, the igbos and yorubas aswell but not for this people.

And please no one should talk of One Nigeria until I can go to Kano and live without the fear of being killed because I mentioned Mohammed or touched a book called Koran. Mind you this is what usually cause a revenge mission in the south.
Re: Jos Killings How Do We Stop This Madness? by otokx(m): 1:56pm On Dec 02, 2008
did you notice that those "500 men" intercepted by the police did not even have any type of gun on them save for a few walking sticks. They have probably been released to go and escort their cattle to greener pastures.

Killing one another cannot help us, Killing innocent citizen in the name they are visitors as he stated it. This is some one who claim to support on Nigeria. Please Tapiya can you give us an explicit definition of the word one Nigeria. This has been an attitude of an average Nigerians even to the top politician in the country. We Preach and confess the gospel of one Nigeria while in our heart of heart all we carries along and proffess is a divided Nigeria. For this reason Nigeria has remained stagnant, no moving forward at worst backward. Even bible said it that 2 can never work together except they agree (from their heart).
Am one of great supporter of one Nigeria but what happens in that country makes me to rethink my stand towards that. i can't imagine were a citizen of the so called one Nigeria being brutalised by some touts, jst because they are in some other part of the same country insearch green pasture. The worst part of it is that even the so called leaders has done absolutely nothing to stop this barbaric acts.
The gravity of ethnic discriminations we have in the so called one Nigeria seems to be greater than the racial discrimination we face outside Nigeria. If Nigeria can't stand or move forward as a nation then i think the leaders of different ethnics should come together in agreement for separation. Let us stop deceiving ourselves.

@debosky

Only Thisday carried that news and also speculate that it may be a rumour as they can't confirm if it is true. You can read your link again.

THISDAY also gathered that security operatives yesterday intercepted about 500 men armed with weapons on their way to Jos. THISDAY could not however independently verify the figure.
Re: Jos Killings How Do We Stop This Madness? by debosky(m): 3:22pm On Dec 02, 2008
I don't doubt that it is speculation that has not been confirmed, but I am inclined to believe Thisday rather than your speculations which are not based on any source.

One more thing to note - Thisday could not verify the FIGURE, meaning the number of people involved is in question. That means there is truth in the report that an armed group was intercepted, the number of people is the unknown quantity.

I am from Delta State and i can never be ashamed to say it, But you igbos feel like the world cannot do without you people, If you get your own Biafra Country would you live in it, If you would tell me what you where looking for in jos and not one of your states, live the people alone and stop pointing fingers and talking about the stupid biafra that has no head or tail and nobody wants to join you in your stupid biafra movement,

I am not justifying what was done in jos, but for you to open your stupid smelling nonsense racist and non thinking mouth to talk trash about me must mean your brain doesn't really function well, and you would ever remain a fool,

Those that were killed in jos were not only igbos or whateva you think, i lost people that were hausa christians and i mean christians not muslims, So my friend it's not all bout you being igbo,

SORRY TO SAY BUT THEY ARE JUST SO SHALLOW MINDED, and the day you show us that you can think for others and not just yourself would be the day biafra might just be ready to work, and this message is for quotasystems, i repeat you are a fool, and you were not even born in 1966 thinking you know it all,
Calling you the most idiotic of all idiots of this forum is understatement. When has nigerdelta become ethnic group? It is not enough to say "i am from nigerdelta" Tell us which ethnic group you belong to without been ashamed of your self and your ethnic group. I make proud to say now that you will never suffice again on this thread because of my question. Shame will never allow you to come back and tell us if you are Ijaw, Urhobo or Ishekiri. Ewu, i wonder when niger delta became a reference to ethnicity.

Ewu awusa without brain, do all Americans and Europeans live in America and Europe despite their places being the best in the world? Senseless question of Yorubas and other nigerian minorities when it comes to Igbos living outside Igboland. Lazy people that can't venture outside their areas to try and make a better living for themselves, but seeing Igbos doing the same thing warrants them to become jealous and start asking their "national anthem" stupid questions about why should Igbo immigrate to their areas to surpass them in achievements.

Anumanu, must i be born in 1969 to know what happened before and after then? That's why most of you nigerians are dumb heads. There are historians who can accurately tell you what happened 300 years ago, yet when an Igbo discusses about Biafra, it becomes reason for you idiotic nigerians to question when he was born. I still maintain that the most three names that you nigerians are most afraid of are BIAFRA, IGBO and OJUKWU. Just mention any of these three names and you will notice a nigerian start panicking.

See you mouth, " a Biafra that no one want to join" Has there been anytime that we Igbos wanted you lazy assholes inside our Biafra? You lazy ones,  especially the Yorubas and awusas are the ones that need to depend on Igbos for your daily survival. If not, try and support the agitation for the breaking up of your silly nigeria which 99.9% of Igbos are in support of breaking it. You lost people that are awusa Christians. Seems you are even awusa and claiming niger delta. Now go ahead without shame and tell us which ethnic group you belong to. Ewu awusa.

you cut the picture of a kid whose parents wasted money sending you to school.

killings happen every where in nigeria because of poverty or how often do you hear of an educated hausa muslim killing in the name of religion?

people in the country are hungry and will use any excuse to vent their anger and just so you should know more hausa muslims were killed in the crisis than the christians.

the problem remains leadership and political will power!
