mrlaw93: Oga this thread is not for you. I doubt if you even comprehend the discussion going on here. Both parties are well represented. Please don't come and rub your mud of ignorance in those who believe there is God as they are making very valid points in support of their beliefs. I believe in Almighty God. |

Believing u came from a base animal, living in a mistaken world trudging thru the day with no purpose will make you see evil in a duller light if at all you can discern evil. Its like a man with severe myopia. Apes, kill over food, humans kill over thngs - y shud the l8r b a crime? Its all choas and survival of d fittest the victims are d weaker kinds and d process is naturally eliminating them. Hitler sold this philosophy to his minions . And they used it it justify murder of d weak and frail. A god believer (Christian ) would b more against evil not because of natural impact only but because of spiritual dimensions. Murder , cannibalism e.g wud b too grotesque because the god-man percieves such actions too gross for some one of his standing ,created in God's image,. To d ape-man, it's just anoda animal tryng to survive and clearing obstacles on its way to progress. You cant have an ape-man philosophy and not eventually become degenerate. Wat is adultery/marital infedility to an ape? Atheists spouse would b shocked y the partner is gettng workuped. Dogs do it. No qualms. Dogs tear each other apart over a bone ! To laff at religion (christianity) for invitng you up to a higher philosophy is pitiable. #atheism is pitiable. |

Timmytimmy:What are you mesmerizing about? For example, because there is no cure for HIV/AIDS yet doesn't means doctors don't have much idea about it. Please, preach about your fairy to people like yourself because god and religion are already out of the equation as we go down the process. I don't think yo know what god and religion are in the first place to know that they don't fix into the equations. |

Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man – living in the sky – who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ‘til the end of time! [Pause] But He loves you. George Carlin (1937-2008) 3 Likes |

datopdlink: Chy22 and blym4real too. To think that these views are top of the head arguments show that people still seek knowledge. At least they have stated their points devoid of emotion and on a logical plane. I have found this thread completely enlightening and would bookmark it for further studies. davien: Sources are cited, that is true. But sometimes they just refer to another webpage. Or misinterpreted source are provided Or Source that did not make such conclusions been presented. Although a great deal of knowledge can be accumulated from wikipedia, students are often told to avoid basing their works on the information on wikipedia. Ideal peer reviewed journals comes first, followed by non peer reviewed journals (which one need to view with care), then online sources and books. Normally books should come before wikipedia but the time needed to publish a book makes them lack behind in information, that is not the case. |

chy22:You are blabbing without having understanding of what I am talking about. I know more about Genetic Mapping than you are speculating here. What I am talking about is that those genetic codes in digging deep are still in a nutshell parts of a fundamental particle like the quarks(at the moment which I think is still divisible just as scientists used to think atom is indivisible in the old), etc. Are you really paying attention to what I am saying at all? |

davien: I do not know of any evolution based predictions that is not based on assumptions. Paternity test on the other side does not need evolution to be valid. Europeans breaking up from Africa, pause and listen to your self, that is based on unproven assumptions. If you disagree you can always point me towards a journal article that perfumed those initial experiments. Fossils: I will assume you understand how radioactive dating works and should know that discrepancies remains a problem. But that will need another thread to discuss, perhaps you should open one on it. But just remember that fossils proves noting, mainly because fossils can not tell you if bones had any children. If you understand the process by which fossils form you would know that represents a problem in the validity of radioactive dating results. Oh you do agree it is a history, so just a story but not testable, then we have noting to argue about, after all BIBLE is a history. The difference between us is: while accept my believe in GOD is not science but religion, you fail to accept that your homoid history (story telling) non testable model is also not science but religion. Now when you say evolution has withstood peer review I seriously think you are been dishonest. The evolutionists have long used embryology as a prove of evolution, even though this was clearly based on faked drawings they still cling to it. Radioactive dating has shown discrepancies in many instances. That is not without saying that there are quite a good amount of scientist if not 50% who objects to the workability of these theories. Just because atheist always think that opinions of creations can be valid, those not mean they are not equally intelligent and their criticisms can not stand. |

all4naija: You may be a specialist in genetic mapping which is a good thing, but amino acids has not be demonstrated to be divisible till date and that makes it a speculation till it is proven. Pause for a moment and think this your statement through: THOSE GENETIC CODES IN DIGGING DEEP ARE STILL IN A NUTSHELL PARTS OF A FUNDAMENTAL PARTICLE this statement is absolute non-sense because the information that directs a human embryo to develop eyes and brains has not be represented in any stone what so ever. And remember I was referring to your argument that humans and stone have no difference. You can always put a peer reviewed article title on here to prove how stone developed the ability to store information and replicate. |

asalimpo:Lets out this to the test shall we? You claim without a "god" or an objective standard...doing good is solely on will. Lets pick one of your "god commandments"... "though shalt not kill". You claim it being objective(right on all grounds)....yet as omnivores we constantly require to feed off on other killed beings and cultivated produce. Your reasong bcomes ur moral standard and the pull of ur desire may overwhelm ur conscience (if there's still much left of it after the searing).Reasoning is important in making moral decisions....we have varied choices of what to do constantly... And desires are our kin needs(necessary or not) that we require to be met urgently...we tend to arrive at them anyhow feasible.. But as empathic beings that have self reflective thoughts(conscience)...we question the way we fulfill our desires and seek to fulfill them without causing unnecessary harm. The issue is without a moral standard with time society will degenerate into depravity and not even know this because they'll b convinced theyre living right.Depends on what you define depravity to be as regarding moral choices...to the aztecs it would mean depravity if one person wasn't sacrificed to appease the "sun god" We arrive at good moral conducts in a community by discussing them and reviewing if it would make the community or individual have equal unbiased level of comfort as long as nobody infringes on anyone else's wellbeing. The only reason we cud look at past cultures and shudder at their depravity and inhumanness is because we hav experienced the perspective of life under better standards enforceable by a legal system. This is my point with the aztecs...we create better moral codes for communities by discussing them in an open arena...where various codes would be established that will allow a fair amount of comfort for citizens who have regard for their wellbeing and others. Okay... Biblical principles advocated for the death of homosexuals....the stoning of unruly children...slavery...and racism and bigotry(chosen ones/reprobates). Wrong doers or "sinners" also go scot free of their crimes if they admit to a special loop-hole I.e "repentance and the belief in jesus" Can you tell me what is morally wrong with gay rights and animal rights? How does someone cause you harm or infringe on your wellbeing by being gay? How do laws put in place to protect animals from harm and extinction harm you or infringe on your own wellbeing? It would be best if you actually read the ruling moral codes of the dark ages...they were mostly superstitious and religious.. It was the refutation of superstitious acts like "witch trials" and scrutiny of religious dominance that led to various modern legalized systems. Man will b ruled by his desires, the logical justification for this wud b - survival of d fittest.Everyone is ruled by desires(knowingly or unknowingly)... You are ruled by the desires also...faith based desires to reject anything that contradicts your views..including reality itself. And ending your post with a "this is due to survival of the fittest" lends you no credit when the notion is merely to address the point that well adapted or "fit" organisms propagates or survives... It isn't a "muscle through" notion as you think it to be. 2 Likes |

all4naija: Lets do a quick look on the abstract of this article you provided In the absence of the selecting drugs, chromosomal mutations for resistance to antibiotics and other chemotheraputic agents commonly engender a cost in the fitness of microorganisms. Recent in vivo and in vitro experimental studies of the adaptation to these “costs of resistance” in Escherichia coli, HIV, and Salmonella typhimurium found that evolution in the absence of these drugs commonly results in the ascent of mutations that ameliorate these costs, rather than higher-fitness, drug-sensitive revertants. To ascertain the conditions under which this compensatory evolution, rather than reversion, will occur, we did computer simulations, in vitro experiments, and DNA sequencing studies with low-fitness rpsL (streptomycin-resistant) mutants of E. coli with and without mutations that compensate for the fitness costs of these ribosomal protein mutations. The results of our investigation support the hypothesis that in these experiments, the ascent of intermediate-fitness compensatory mutants, rather than high-fitness revertants, can be attributed to higher rates of compensatory mutations relative to that of reversion and to the numerical bottlenecks associated with serial passage. We argue that these bottlenecks are intrinsic to the population dynamics of parasitic and commensal microbes and discuss the implications of these results to the problem of drug resistance and adaptive evolution in parasitic and commmensal microorganisms in general. From the article you can clearly see it talking about variations, this phenomenon I agree with. The study also used computational stimulation, which means if it did make any conclusion based on that it will become an assumption. But the most important fact is you are mis interpreting this article, from their conclusion which I highlighted the made conclusions on drug resistance and micro-evolution. This paper clearly does not prove or even claim any thing about macro-evolution and they never showed that even E.coil developed to something that is not E.Coli. So basically you read this article and ignored their valid conclusion and made you own assumption. Disappointing I must say. |
