Obiwannn: Dear "adult" it's unfortunate that in your haste to chastise me, you didn't have the common sense to understand that I was just trying to paint a clear picture so as to make the people I'm asking advise from understand exactly what the case is and then help me... Though I owe you no explanation whatsoever and can in fact use "my mum" as many times as I want to since it isn't against any of the 21 rules, I'll still clarify further because I'm nice like that. I had to stress the fact that I wasn't the person making the transfer personally and I didn't even say anything close to the stress I've put her through which of course you would have read if you weren't so busy trying to "bash" me. I'd stop at this point because as my mummy always says "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" 11 Likes 1 Share |

kennyoguns0509: And you think those documents were not submitted too? well, my case isn't the same as yours seeing that my mum was the one trying to do the transfer for me with the form A. well, I'm beginning to think that angle doesn't work or has there been any case of anybody having someone else (like a parent or relative) transfer the money to them with the form A? |

Hello House, Still on using Form A to transfer to our Blocked Accounts, I used GTB (Ademola Adetokunbo Branch, VI, Lagos) because it is the closest branch to my office. Following all the steps earlier stated by forum members, I went with all the documentation stated and filled the Form A (Please note that a little bit of patience is required in getting the right person to talk to as 80% of the banking staff would tell you it can not be done). I was told that the request would be uploaded into their system and forwarded to my original branch for the actual processing. This was done 2 days later as my account officer called me to clear some issues. I filled for 8100 to be transferred to my blocked account but they maintained that they could only transfer 8040 as stated in the account details sent by DB. This is despite the fact that DB said they would be charging 50euros and that should be noted and my adding the financial breakdown of expenses document my school sent with the admission letter. They maintained that CBN said they will not be paying the DB charges and any unaccounted amount (10euros remaining). So far the 8040 goes through, then let them proceed. I got debited N1,778,813.82 at first and then I called to request for a quick copy of the Telex copy so as to use it during my interview. That was when I was told that the debiting was just to bid for Euro at CBN, once that is successful, i would get credited with the same amount before the total amount for the entire transaction would be debited. Yesterday, I got credited with the N1,778,813.82 and just this morning a total amount of N1,793,152.52 was deducted. Below is a snippet of the notification. Transaction Notification Account Number : ********91 Transaction Location : 635 AKIN ADESOLA Description : FX PURCHASE (SPOT) Amount : 1,793,249.64 Value Date : 27-Jul-2015 Remarks : EUR SALE AA2421146 EUR8040@199.50/1.1180 Time of Transaction : 7:22 PM Document Number : 15022116 I am yet to get a breakdown or the Telex copy but from my calculations, the rates are as follows: 8040euros @ 221.2455 = N1,778,813.82 0.5% of amount transferred (N1,778,813.82) = N8,894 5% of 0.5% = N444.70 Telex cost = N5,000 Total Charges = N14,338.7 Total Amount deducted = N1,778,813.82 + N14,338.7 = N1,793,249.64 The only challenge that may come up here is the fact that GTB insisted on my using a Current account! So please take note! I am only being this granular with my experience so that we all can learn as it applies to us. I simply followed the same experiences and methods stated on this forum by a member. Please ask for clarifications and I will try to expatiate but I am sure the bosses would do better justice. 10 Likes |

Can one convert his Nigerian Driver's License to a German one and use it to drive there legally? Somewhat but a lengthy process Should one get an International Driver's License? I read somewhere in thread 1 that we should get the Int'l license? Yes and Yes. I no know about the case everywhere but the Nigerian International Driver License from Naija nor really dey trusted. Na just cardboard paper with thing when dem use biro write like this. I'm not sure how it is now because the last time I use am na 2010 and one Police hold me for 30 mins one day for road say na fake. True Story. The second one - which I ended up doing, whey I no even get time collect sef but everyone advised me to do. Take your Nigerian Driving License, go to the Nigerian Embassy in your region, write up a cover letter for the DL and attach copies of your Naija DL. I'm not sure how many days it takes but this is how farther (I believe) you can get. Keep in mind - this experience when I share na 2010 o. I no know how e be now o. Obiwannn: |

@Obiwann still on top of d matter o...fidelity never still see €369 buy o....its amazing. I have mailed d man in charge wit d photocopy of d Form A attached. I told him I sent d teller ahead while we await my bank to successfully complete d transfer process. This morning he mailed me back saying "thank, best regards". Lolz. Deadline was yesterday. Nothing was said about forfeiture of d accommodation. |
Re: General German Visa Enquiries Part 2 by DanIndia(m): 1:29pm On Jul 28, 2015 |
Go to the Nigerian Embassy, take copies of your Current Nigerian DL with you. Write a cover (application) letter for an International DL issued from the Office of the High Comm. This can be verified as I believe is more genuine than the one from Nigeria. I did this, but never went back for it because I lived far from the city the Nigerian Embassy was located at. Hi Obiwann, You no go understand what I mean by Ogbolo. anyway, Ahbiey understands better.. Now back to the Driver's License Issue. If you are in possession of any "VALID" driver's license from any country, you are authorized to drive within German for the first 6 months, which means Internationals (non-EU) students can drive up to 6 month with their license. If you want to get the full license to drive afterwards, that normally depends which country you are coming from. For some countries they only change the license, for other countries: you have to attend the theoretical and practical exam. Important: You only have 6 month after starting your life/studies in Germany to change your license. After that you must apply for a new one called "Führerschein" See the links below for more: http://www.deula.de/kempen/lehrgaenge/einzelansicht-lehrgang.html?courseuid=1457&cHash=2b9debbb2c3a9480dcdbf1ad8d260a2f https://www.adac.de/infotestrat/ratgeber-verkehr/fuehrerschein/auslaendische-fuehrerscheine/default/default.aspx?ComponentId=103847&SourcePageId=48368 They are in German so its advisable you use Google chrome to access the pages for easy translation. But honestly speaking, getting a driver License in Germany makes life easier and there are much more jobs for anyone with a valid German driver's license with good pay. But no be beans to get this License as it starts from around 2100 euros See sample below. Alles Gute ! 1 Share

pompido: Okay people, I think I was too forward with my initial calculations because GTB just debited my account for the telex charges, 0.5% and the Vat. This clearly shows that the actual rate applied is 1 euro = N 223.0289 Guess it is still a fair rate. |
