It very unfortunate that we play politics with every topic, NNPC has employed graduates under GEJ,employment in the Banks which we tot was a good omen , sanusi came and showed that the boom in the banks under OBJ was fraud, now the local content bill wic has empowered local contractors wic should inturn create more jobs is not because of our black nature.GEJ is setting up processes that we will reap in the long run.channel just aired live SURE-P score card yet those that are afraid to write aptitude test by runing away from any structured employment exercise are talking any how. |

tolexy007: You mean he has made more noise about it on the media. Nothing really on ground to show development except what the government itself tells us, no blueprint for development, no real tangible improvement. the only area they seem to have done well is fertilizer distribution, even then I am taking their word for it and not from real farmers. Hope you know that real farmers are in the villages not those portfolio farmers always attending one meeting or the other in Abuja. |

kindergarten question under obj there was a boom in telecoms and banking, and this had a multiplier effect. jobs in the industries, then jobs in industries serving those industries. advertising, engineering, facilities maintenance, the middle class grew and average nigerians got rich. all we have tody is a shrinking economy and rich thieves like ifeanyi ubah. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Gej ofcourse surpassed Obj... and beside Obj enjoyed his 8yrs compare to what Gej is going thru.. nd the aim was to distract him but God has been with him and will see him thru. beside your comparison didn't correlate @all. Gej is about completing 4yrs of his first term in Office and u comparing him to obj that spent a peaceful 8yrs?? kudos to Gej cos ppl now compare his 1st term to 2terms of Obj.. 1 Like |

Comparing Obasanjo regime to that of Jonathan is like comparing sleep to death. Jonathan has failed woefully in term of job creation, enriching only the elite. The kangaroo jobs created by SURE-P and YouWin didn't help either, it's more like unemployment benefits to youths associated with the ruling party PDP. For an import dependent economy such as ours in Nigeria, the ever weakening Naira has not help matters either. Furthermore, even those employed are grossly underemployed. |

MentorForWealth: It can't decline because rate of graduating student is higher than the so called available jobs. Ppl shout agriculture like its like planting corn and selling... My colleagues n friends at work that are in poultry service even beg ppl buy there products.. Why? Because poultry product is everywhere and its cheap. Going into food production or drinks production, electricty will make u go bankrupcy and cost of maintaining Generator alone is enought to boost the capital. 1 Like |

I think you should also consider the number of businesses the Corporate Affairs Commission has registered over the past 4 years. By "job" do you mean those who wear suit and resume office 7 am? or those engaging in profitable and legal ventures? Take a trip to CAC office at Ikeja and you will be amazed at the rate at which Nigerians troop in to get their business registered. I won't stop insulting Nigerians because our level of reasoning is sooo low. How can a normal human being examine job creation in the context of Immigration and UBA job? Are you guys really du.m b or you just choose to be du. mb on special threads against GEJ? @ what rate are you talking about? Has the rate of Business name registration translated to employment? if you are judging by the number of business name registered in Nigeria in a month, by now we shouldn't be talking about unemployment. Let me tell you, a lot of people you see registering business name is as a result of loss of employments, rather than staying at home they decided to registered a Business name in anticipation someone we ask for it in future. I registered my Business name last year, ask me whether have done any business with it, so many people are in the same category like me. Ask those people that work in PFA, they will tell you the increase in number of people that want to access 25% of their pension contribution as a result of loss of employment. 7 Likes |

Both are useless governments. In this kind of third world country, provision of electricity 24/7 is important, both government failed woefully on that. Availability of 24/7 electricity would create millions of jobs. Also development of agriculture is very important to complement money from oil, but both governments failed to improve agric significantly. nigeria can get more money from agriculture than from oil. Also corruption were rampant, the country resources were milked away. pdp is this country's nightmare. 2 Likes |

blesseenE: Tah! pls stop that joke oh!! There are more Graduates to employ now YES!! but there are also more companies and organizations to employ pple ( both public and private). u can't compare the Ratio of the Unemployed to the total Labour force today to that of OBJ's time (if you understand statistics you'll know what I'm talking about). Under OBJ it was hard to see some1 with HND Lower credit or BSC 2:2 that is jobless but under GEJ first class, 2:1 even Masters degree holders(both Nigerian and foreign) are unemployed and it's not looking like it's gonna get any better....very pathetic. 1 Like |

objs regime was better , it was real , verifiable facts and not hype. there was fiscal control in the area of spending, external reserves were higher. naira to dollar was less than 160, as against current rate of 218 to dollar. 1 Like |

Sammiejokes: You seems not sure of what you are saying, or i should say you don't know what you are saying, how many of your brother were employed and how many were employed from your street during OBJ's regim. He was the who kill our economy and thereby cause a lot of unemployment in the society, they did not have any arrangement with private industry on employment issue rather they focused on their personal revenue, do you know how much he collected from MTN and every 1% card recharged goes into his personal account......I can vividly remember one of OBj's statement " That he has not found anyone killed hunger and that many can afford to buy gulder for N200" GOODLUCK CAME UP WITH: 1: HE INCREASED WORKERS SALARIES....WHEN I WAS SERVING I WAS PAID N9,500 WHICH IS NOW N19,500. 2: WE NOW HAVE SCHOLARSHIP BY THE FEDERAL GOVT TO ALL FIRST CLASS GRADUATE 3: INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION TO REVIVE ALL OUR DEAD INDUSTRIES THAT WERE KILLED DUE TO PAST LEADER PERSONAL EGO 4: SURE-P TO ENCOURAGE YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS 5: GRADUATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME ,TO MAKE ALL OUR GRADUATE MORE EMPLOYABLE 6: WOO INVESTORS, SO AS TO HAVE MORE INDUSTRIES BECAUSE WITHOUT INDUSTRIES THERE WILL ALWAYS BE UNEMPLOYED GRADUATE 7: MANY WERE EMPLOYED IN THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS, MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND OTHER MINISTRIES |

Acidosis: Guy park well joor. What do you know about impact Analysis. How does the rate of business registration translate to enhanced livelihood, job creation etc. All for what you will eat, you cannot reason well. Between 2004-2008, I had over 30 job invitations even when I had a good job. Now I have so many young ones around me, i cannot even get them invited for a job text unlike that period. labiola: He failed abysmally to comprehend the topic. The Op was not actually referring to jobs created by government, but jobs enabled by government policies The Op mentioned employment rate during OBJ and GEJ regime. Had GEJ achieved what he promised, nay, 50% of 4 refineries, 12,000MV, we would have seen a real transformation about the scale that was witnessed when OBJ deregulated the banking and communication sectors. @Acidosis Registration of business does not translate to job creation. Were you at the same CAC office in 1999 - 2007? 1 Like |
