Vicotex: vicotex yarning opata as usual. I saw the interview, and you get the feeling Prof Soyinka was all but endorsing the same GMB you are attempting to castigate. The Prof made allusions that individuals can undergo internal changes when asked about disparaging remarks he made about GMB some years ago.. So if you get any intelligence at all you wouldn't have attempted to use this subject for your attack. but u no get sense 1 Like |

I am with the Professor on this. When faced with the mandate of chosing between the semi-devil and the extremely clueless one,one is bound to get it wrong.Wish fate would be just enough in years to come by providing people whom all would trust to take the nation to the next level. |

1stola: Wole Soyinka must go further. It is people like you that said Zamfara state governors islamisation of zamfara state was irrelevant. We are now enjoying the fact that the entire north is gripped by the violent minority that controls and intimidates the silent majority of Moslems. From sokoto to Maidugiri, Boko haram has stated on record that the Sunni establishment hegemony constituting the sultan of sokoto, the Sarduana, the emir of Kano and others of the same ilk are apostates. Some emirs have already been murdered. The sultan and the emirs are petrified of this virulent and garrulous Boko haram. You are quite simply irrelevant. 1 Like |

“All I know is that if a wrong choice is made, we must all be prepared, we should start preparing to go back to the trenches, whatever it takes. “Let’s put it this way: the way you fight a civilian misrule is different from the way you deal with people like Sanni Abacha. IN THIS ANALYSIS, THE NECESSITY HAS ARRIVED. THOUGH IT MAY BE HARSH. WE NEED SOMEBODY LIKE GMB THAT IS BOLD ENOUGH FACE CORRUPTION HEAD WAY. NEVERTHELESS THE APPROACH WILL BE VERY DIFFERENT UNDER DEMOCRATIC SETTINGS COMPARED TO THAT OF KAKISTOCRACY. BECAUSE IF NIGERIAN DID NOT KILL CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION WILL KILL NIGERIA. A SITUATION WHERE EVERYTHING HAS BECOME CORRUPTED INCLUDING ARMY, JUDICIARY, EVEN PASTORS. |

For a proffessor and a nobel laurete, i didnt quite get what he was trying to say. l understand he views him as a dictator and is worried about lack of alternative, i couldnt also help notice that he condemned the incumbent for the way he handled the chibok girls. l dont know the stand he takes or any cogent reason for his aversion he has for buhari besides him being a military dictator under military rule. Does he really expect buhari to make decree under civilian rule. All these our doctors and proffessors in nigeria just like shoving trash in our ways because they feel the titles makes them smarter than the people. 1 Like |

We survived in any of every situation Mr Soyinka. There is nothing new to Nigerians. All we need is a working country. A country where there would be consequences for corruption, a country where there is law and order. 2 Likes |

KwoiZabo: even the Prof. is willing to give Buhari a second Chance and benefit of doubt! He said: “I’ve got to the point whereby I look at the possibility of a genuine internal transformation with some individuals. I have been disappointed before, and we must always be ready to be disappointed again.” Speaking about deepening democracy in Nigeria, the 80-year-old said: “There are many, many actions, especially by the government in power which I won’t say are exactly democratic. Let’s have a fair war, it’s not yet deep enough.” He went on to speak about the abducted Chibok girls, branding insurgency in the north-east a failure of leadership by Jonathan and his predecessors. “What happened was a clear failure in leadership. One cannot hold the government solely; the responsibility spreads, because the Boko Haram thing began in various ways a long time ago. |

When you see a man that rarely sEes good in any other person besides himself; know you're dealing with a schizophrenic. Soyinka, pls go and see a doctor. |

gbadexy: Perhaps I can help. Previously Soyinka has stated that Buhari was not a democrat. He fought Buhari in 1984-85. Soyinka lost a great deal during Buhari's tyranny. He has also condemned Buhari's religious jingoism. The essence of his diatribe is that Buhari is morally repugnant. He will not be voting for Buhari. He is also against PDP governance of Nigeria. He believes that successive PDP administrations have become arrogant and have deviated from concerning themselves from alleviating the lot of the average Nigerian. He is particularly disenchanted with the office of the First Lady and the rot and corruption which is still in the system. He believes the Chibok situation is unacceptable. That Jonathan should be held accountable for the weak armed forces. That the Boko haram insurgents was not new, but has been around in previous administration and has not been dealt with. Hope you understand his gist better now. The key to understanding the noble laureate is to read up on his back catalog. His views are consistent. I don't agree with all his views, but most are progressive. 5 Likes |
