Locomotive trains are not bad as being painted. Some travel at peak speed of 150 to 200 km/ h. They are widely used in us and uk. The entire high speed train network in the us is about 300 km, the rest is still the conventional trains. Uk has about 70 miles of high speed rail tracks. In the whole of africa, no country uses high speed trains. India doesn't have that technology . The only countries that use it on a wide scale are china, japan, france and some european countries. It is a very expensive technology. And can only be deployed on specialised routes even if we decide to use them.

The trains were just another avenue for them to siphon money.
They'll budget for brand new trains but will instead buy trash and put the huge surplus in their pockets.
It's Nigerians blinded by hate, ethnicity, bigotry and religion that I blame and not the thieving politicians

It is YOU who lacks knowledge. A metro train does NOT have to be underground. Metro generally means an intra-city rail service.

For me, the reason I want to vote GMB is this.

In GEJs regime; it was well known to us the unemployment rate will remain worse in the coming years. Contract jobs have become prominent and nothing is been done. Indians, Chinese have become our bosses and we respect them more than our people. GEJ did nothing about it, he will do nothing about it.
In my view, the recruitment process since GEJs regime has been the most corrupt of them all. I have never in my life seen or understood why First bank would have their candidates, why customs will have about 600 slots from the federal government, of which most of them are Hausas. I see no reason why nimasa will have 600 slots from GEJ. The level of unemployment is really high and it is sad because this is the only reason why I would vote for GMB. If una like make una show me the best part of GEJ. If him like make he buy 3000 trains, is that the major problem of the country? I also do not understand why seun sometimes will take off my comment! If you don't like what I say, tell me and I leave this forum.

Or we don't have the money to generate power of our own. Oh I've forgotten your thieves you call leaders keeps looting us dry. I never said we can't afford it, it is a very expensive technology. There are plans for the abuja-lagos high speed rail. And it is public-private sector partnership thing. I didn't mean to insult you. It's just that whenever I think about the situation of this country,I just get angry and bitter. With all the trillions of dollars in our reserves. We can't afford the basic needs of life ( Electricity,Water,Good health facilities and a cheap but Good education) . The government as a whole has failed us. But,this GEJ own worst!!!

I agree with you that Nigeria is far from what it should be. Leadership has failed us. Past leaders have failed. That is why we are like this. Past administrations had succeeded in fixing notin. That is why I won't totally blame him for all our problems. Tho he ought to have done more. If u watched d debate, most of the other candidates commended d giant strides in the agric sector. I believe giant stride have been made in certain sectors. At first, colonels were directing the war against the insurgents which is the norm in the military, but it wasn't working. Now the generals are directly leading the war. And you can see the successes that have been recorded. In the power sector, a lot of investments have been made with marginal results. I believe there is something they are not getting right and with time, that will be figured out and power will improve considerably. Especially when vandalisationof power installations is brought to the barest minimum. Nothing is foolproof bro and no man is perfect.

While the rail project in Abuja has gone far...it is still a work in progress....and if you visit the City...prepare to travel around by bus or taxi!

Eventually....Abuja will have a light rail project....as well as a raillink between Gwagwalada(satellite city) and the airport and the main city.

I am not a PDP supporter....but this is one project I wish gets fully completed. Abuja needs a metro rail service....like the ones Lagos and PH are getting..
Pls dont add PH dat thing Amaechi is building there is a huge joke & waste of money.

Let's have some fun with this.(although it may mean defending IBB...ugh).

Buhari(harsh and inflexible...and may have been corrupt...emphasis on may)

WAI...first major general anti0corruption drive in Nigeria.

Jalied 500 corrupt politicians and their hangers on.

Started the environmental sanitation programme...and even threw in a prize of N1million for the cleanest state in Nigeria.

Also ran a good austerity government.

IBB(yes...corrupt...but still)

Set up the organisation that is today's Niger Delta Development Commission (then they called it OMPADEC).

Set up the National Directorate of Employment.....still providing job training to Nigerians today.

Set up the Directorate for Foods, Roads and Rural Infrastructure.....DFFRI....did a lot of infrastructure projects in the rural areas.

Set up the NDLEA...Nigeria's first anti-drug agency....which eventually stopped Nigeria from being a major drug transit hub.

Set up the FRSC(on advice from Wole Soyinka.).. FRSC was responsible for reducing road accidents by the mid 90's.

Set up the organisation that became the Ministry of Environment(then it was called FEPA) in the wake of the Koko waste disaster).

Dulaised the Kaduna- Zaria-Kano road (because once upon a time...the Kaduna-Zaria road was the deadliest in the world...).

(IBB might have been a good leader....but you know....sigh.).

Abacha(yes...power hungry and corrupt...but)

Set up the Failed Banks tribunal...which cleaned up the banking sector....which had become a mess UNDER ibb.

Set up PTF...headed by Buhari....which completed a lot of infrastructure projects.(and provided the idea for today's ETF...Education trust fund).

Completed the move to Abuja in 1995.

And Abubakar....handed over power to civilians.

Them Northerners did do a lot, eh?

Now...you better apologise to me...because you have made me defend ex-leaders I am not a fan of.
