Both. But when using a percentage, more percentage goes to the man. Like 60-40. As d head of d family. But as for me I don't care. I have a name for my kids, my wife have hers. She myt decide to keep calling d child by mine or I call d child by hers. Or we decide to choose one unanimously at the initial stage. No biggie. A child can have a thousand names. |

In some cultures/families: father first, then mother, while for others can be any member of the family, ranging from father to extended members like, grand-father, uncle, great-grand-father etc Me thinks whichever of them can name the child, But the father has more legit right coz along the line, its his name that that particular child will bear and the issue (child) would also be a representative of his ethnicity/family line when the father has gone to the great land beyond. ... Now since both father and mother emerge from different tribes in order to be joined together in wedlock... It is important, if not necessary that they both give the child names deem fit. This in process will ensure that the child grasps the different cultures of his/her parent. And this might also help to promote love, oneness, eliminate hatred, quarrels and the feeling of "my ethnicity/tribe is better than urs or mine is superior to urs. |
