With PDP losing its long-held grip in the centre to the APC in the April 28th Presidential Election, the 16yrs ruling party is about to be relegated to the status of an opposition party. For both members and fans of the PDP who until recently kept boasting of how PDP will rule for 60yrs, how Buhari will lose and cry again, etc - the outcome of the Presidential election and wide acceptance that has greeted it is still a rude shock. I have observed that as the PDP come to full realization it lost, it is becoming obvious that these PDP supporters are banking on misleading Nigerians with fake news, half truths, false hope, exaggeration, false claims, blatant lies and many more forms of deceptions to undermine the efforts of the Buhari led administration. Below are my observation about PDP's new found hobby: 1. Term Buhari A Tyrant: All through the campaign, PDP and their agents spent millions trying to paint Buhari as a tyrant who will lead with high-handedness like it were in the Military rule. Through these Schemes of Lies, the want to gauge the reaction of the Feds and see if they will get a justification to their claims. 2. Derail The Efforts Of Government: By peddling these lies and conflicting information, Nigerians will be confused on the actual policy of the FG and even in some case may be led to over expect. Just few days ago, they claimed Buhari promised to fix BH in 2 months, forcing the APC to become defensive. 3. Down Play The Reputation Of Buhari: Immediately Nigerians stated uniting under the platform of the APC in-view to effect the needed Change in the system and provide solutions to the challenges we face as a Nation, PDP started parading concept that APC is the same as PDP. This is to lure Nigerians to give-up hope a better Nigeria under APC even before it starts. You see them pointing at their so called allegedly corrupt while turning a blind eye to known convicted fellows that abound in their own party. 4. Plot For A Quick Comeback: As many PDP members lose power and relevance due to this defeat, the general chorus on their lips is "We will be back". They are off the opinion that this is just a temporal setback. As such, by parading these lies and misinforming Nigerians for the next 4yrs, their plot is when the election circle comes, these plots would have cast a long shadow that Nigerians may not be fully satisfied with APC. At that point, it may be possible to cajole Nigerians to restore PDP. My Recommendations: In view of the above and other observations on the antics of the PDP and their fans, I hereby which to make the following recommendations. 1. The Buhari led administration must work hard to deliver on the promises it made to Nigerians during the campaigns and work more on impacting positively on the lives of Nigerians rather than on fancy policy titles. 2. APC led FG must avoid the temptation of reacting forcefully on deliberate attempts to derail the policies of government through misinformation and falsehood. If not properly handled, the PDP will scream - it is 1984 all over again. 3. Buhari's administration must streamline the flow of communication and ensure a centralized source of information to avoid conflicting info and authorized folks spreading official rumours. 4. Also be swift response to false claims and the sources of those falsehood put out to avoid repetition and keep the masses aware of where the wrong information came from. 5. The irony is all the above things you accuse PDP of trying to do is exactly what APC did to PDP. 1. You all termed GEJ clueless 2. Derailed the efforts of the government 3. Attacked GEJ reputation 4. And utilize the nations woe to recover and gather mass support. Why are you then afraid of been fed with your own medicine. Matthewbriggs: Jonathan derailed himself, he was loved by all but was very clueless in his actions. He betrayed the love of people for useless sycophants and corrupt people around him. He tried to set us against one another north vs south, Christian vs Muslim, Yoruba vs Igbo and others, north against north and so on. We were more divided under gej and that is due to his strategy. He blamed opposition for his owner responsibilities, imagine a president that claimed the opposition did not make his power project work while we all know that under Barth Nnaji electricity improved, he blamed every thing he does not have solution to on Religion, ethnicity, opposition, tribes and common man. You can imagine a government that blamed innocent immigration applicant for their own death, while the minister moves freely unpunish. The attitude of his supporters is also very bad, most of them are filled with hatred and evil, even if 20000 people die all they have to say is gej till 2019 or blame the dead, imagine Abia PDP chairman who said bokoharam should kill them very well on channels TV and I ask will you people still ask for vote from same people you wish bokoharam should kill. The PDP only wishes it will work. GEJ was a failure from the start. When he was a governor, he achieves nothing so showing his failures was easy. A government that performs can not be blackmailed it does not matter who does the blackmailing. Imagine when the clueless president denied that any Chibok girl was missing while the army said some were rescued. The same government did nothing until Malala came to Nigeria The same government where the CIC goes dancing after a crisis. We are all watching. But what I don't get is why some staunch supporters of APC are saying that they will be leaving Nairaland soon, alleging that their work here is done. Lol.. The truth is that Buhari is bound to fail, in other words, he won't "perform" better than Goodluck (who is perceived to be a failed president). It is impossible for a new president to make any meaningful impact in the first four years. Obasanjo, couldn't, Yar'Adua couldn't and Goodluck couldn't. The problem is that these presidents have only three years to perform before proper judgements and assessments are made. Buhari has only three years to perform. The 2015 budget has not been passed and we are in April. Nigerians are typically very impatient people, and after two years if the administration of Buhari has not achieved meaningful, then there'll be a serious call for his sack. |

egift: If you had known, NTA and AIT are media organisations and guided by corporate code of conduct. The are also in business to make money and that was what they did. So in your words, changing tone does not mean anything. They will always report news as it happens and same with Channels. So if they aired 'lies' through campaigns by APC or PDP, then APC or PDP is responsible for such 'lies' just as in print media. Heck, most of you are not as intelligent as you claim to be. APC has always, through their usual medium, trumpeted that GEJ is clueless and yet they shielded Buhari from debate. Instead, sham town hall meetings were organised whereby the audience were selected. I still wonder how GMB will lead Nigeria without Nigerians getting a feel of his intellect. When asked how he intend to drive Nigeria in the face of dwindling revenue, he said the money recovered from corruption will be used to augment his drive. I wonder how much will be recovered - maybe Sanusi's $20 billion or Soludo's 30 trillion naira. Or maybe he will seek to tamper with constituency projects, or salary reductions or increasing royalties or maybe go to Venus. I bet he doesn't know how government works, how revenue is generated and how expenditures are made. That was how he stopped a metro line project in 1984 which would have gone a long way to improve economic activities and generate income. Maybe Nigerians should brace up for a new round of tax regime. Whether we like it or not, GEJ has laid the foundation for a prosperous Nigeria. The so much talk about ending corruption started by him through strengthening institutions, removing middlemen from contracts and ensuring that due process is followed. Just also in power, he has laid a solid foundation as Power Plants are being built and commissioned, gas networks are being constructed. Am so sure APC will ride on his gains when consolidation begins and people like you will give him his due credit. Same also in rail tracks. Like father like son, Aregbe is busy blaming FG for salaries owned in his state. Who does that? |
