I doubt that. Keep in mind that the South African firm STTeP played a huge role in our counter insurgency efforts, particularly with the creation of 72 MSF Battalion. So I be suprisedsuprisedwe got a number of equipments, chest rigs inclusive. Even the rigs in same picture have same colour as those used by the SANDF. Probably old SANDF stock.

BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS KILL VIGILANTES WHILE OTHERS SURENDER TO MILITARY

Some elements of Boko Haram terrorists on 6 motorcycles yesterday attacked Kutuva village in which they killed 4 persons and abducted 4 women from the village.

Consequently, the local vigilante in Kaya mobilized immediately to the village and trailed the terrorists up to their suspected hideout located somewhere south of Sabon Garin Bale.

The vigilantes did their best by engaging the terrorists, unfortunately they escaped into the bush.

But the courageous vigilantes destroyed the terrorists camp and recovered all hoisted Boko Haram terrorists’ flags, 3 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle magazines, 2 AK-45 rifle magazines and 24 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition.

The vigilantes also rescued an 11 year old girl who stated that she was abducted by the terrorists from Batha village. Sadly however, the vigilante could not trace the terrorists or the abducted women.

However, effort is on going to trace and rescue them.

In a related development, a team of local vigilante in Damboa led by Sarkin Yaki Ali Gwoza intercepted some persons along Njaba road, south of Damboa town while on patrol.

During preliminary interrogation, they confessed that they were Boko Haram terrorists group members that were compelled to join the insurgency against their will and that they were on their way to Damboa to surrender to the military.

They attributed their decision to give up their nefarious activities because continued military onslaught and that life has become hard and unbearable for the terrorists generally.

Further screening has confirmed 17 of them as hardened Boko Haram terrorists trying to escape and infiltrate the society.

Similarly, a combined patrol team of 7 Division Garrison, 101 Special Forces Battalion and 3 Civilian JTF, while on clearance patrol, intercepted a Golf car with registration number BX 508 RBC, suspected to be carrying suppliers of logistics such as spare parts and Improvised Explosives making Devices materials to Boko Haram terrorists along Kayamla general area Tuesday morning.

The suspected suppliers abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush on sighting the patrol team. The vehicle and its contents has been recovered to nearby military location.

Thank you for your usual and kind cooperation.

UPDATE ON OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE: TROOPS RESCUE 53 MORE PERSONS KILL 2 TERRORISTS AND ARREST ONE

The Nigerian Army troops deployed in Operation LAFIYA DOLE clearing the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists have been busy performing their assigned tasks with varying degrees of satisfactory accomplishments.

It is in this regards that the troops of 114 Task Force Battalion of 28 Task Force Brigade, embarked on aggressive patrol to dominate and secure the road linking Izge and Bitta. During the operation, the patrol came across 43 persons that escaped from one of the Boko Haram terrorists hideouts in Madube. The escapees comprised of 10 men, 14 women and 19 children. They are currently being screened and profiled at the Battalion Headquarters.

Similarly, troops of 115 Task Force Battalion of the same Brigade, in conjunction with some vigilante groups carried out patrols to Pegana, Joma, Wambiyar, Dille, Pumpum, Zah, Miya and Pugula communities and cleared them of Boko Haram terrorists.

Yesterday, some elements of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), arrested and handed over a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, named Garba Thlama Mussa to the unit. He is currently being interrogated and would be handed over to Joint Intelligent Committee.

The troops of 117 Battalion also carried out patrols within Mubi North and Mubi South to ensure general security of the areas. The same unit also provided security to Adamawa State boundaries adjustment committee during their visit to Kwaja village in Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Troops of 143 Battalion also carried out patrol in Bebel, Fattude, Teddei, Hyambula and Sukur.

We are pleased to state that the troops in that axis are in high spirit determined to continue doing the nation proud.

The story is the same in 22 Brigade area of operations as troops of 3 Battalion also conducted foot and mobile patrols towards Diema, Tatakura and Kala villages during which they had contact with Boko Haram terrorists, killed 2 of them and recovered some dangerous weapons.

Similarly, troops of 22 Brigade Garrison in conjunction with a detachment of Nigeria Custom Services personnel conducted patrol along Dikwa-Mafa-Maiduguri road to keep it safe.

As the security situation keeps improving in the North East especially in the liberated and cleared areas, other security and Para-military agencies have started redeploying back to their locations. It was to this end that the Nigerian Immigration Service has also deployed its personnel in Dikwa.

The 21 personnel were received and briefed at the Headquarters of 22 Brigade Garrison. The team is undergoing training on mines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) awareness and ground signs before they commence work.

In a related development, the troops of 22 Brigade Garrison, intercepted 14 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) which include 3 men, 3 women, 6 male children and 2 female children coming to Dikwa from Chingowa village. The IDPs were screened by the troops and the Civilian JTF at the area and then handed over to Dikwa IDP Coordinator for further screening, registration and rehabilitation.

Sadly, an administrative patrol was ambushed 12 kilometres to Gwoza. Unfortunately 3 soldiers and 13 civilians were wounded. All of the wounded have been evacuated to 21 Brigade Medical Reception Station. They are all in stable condition and responding to treatment.

Thank you for your kind and usual cooperation.

Bodies Of 42 Fishermen Kidnapped By Boko Haram Found In Lake

The bodies of 42 fishermen who were kidnapped last week by Boko Haram on the Nigeria-Cameroon border were recovered in a lake, Cameroon military reportedly said.

The Daily Sabah reported that villagers near Lake Chad alerted authorities after several bodies were observed floating. The bodies were removed from the lake on Saturday and Sunday.

The report said fighting between Boko Haram and an insurgency in northern Nigeria has intensified in the past few weeks.

More than 50,000 people have been forced in recent days to flee their homes in southeastern Niger after a series of attacks by Boko Haram.

Niger contributes to a multi-national force set up to fight Boko Haram in the region, where attacks in recent years have killed at least 20,000 people and displaced 2.7 million, according to Amnesty International and the U.N.

The Nigeria-based Islamic militants pledged support for the Islamic State last year.

BRIEF REMARKS BY IGP SOLOMON E. ARASE, NPM, fdc, AT THE COMMISSIONING CEREMONY OF NIGERIA POLICE FORENSIC LABORATORY AND DIGITAL RESOURCE CENTRE AT THE FORCE CRIMINAL INTELLIGENCE AND INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT, ABUJA ON WEDNESDAY, 15TH JUNE, 2016

Protocols
It is with a sense of elation and professional fulfilment that I welcome you all to this landmark ceremony marking the commissioning of the ultramodern Nigeria Police Forensic Laboratory and Digital Resource Centre.
2. My sense of elation stems from the fact that the integration of global best policing practices has been one of the core focus of my leadership. This is because forensic-guided police operation represents a critical component of modern policing functions. Biometric support to policing is not only a source of police intelligence, it is also a vital aid to successful investigation and prosecution of criminal elements.
3. Unfortunately, the Nigeria Police Force has over the years, been grappling with weak forensic capacity which has been a major factor in our inability to manage complex criminal situations. Today’s event is designed to bridge this capacity gap in the Force in relation to forensic assets of the Force.
4. The asset being commissioned today is a traditional scientific investigation tool of police departments all over the world. It is also a Personal Identity Management System that the Nigeria Police Force ought to have had long before now.
5. The facility has a wide variety of applications for the positive identification of suspects through their fingerprints, iris and facial recognition functions. It is designed to collect, store, merge and display the identity of the targeted criminal element even at the scene of crime. The system can also convert existing manual record of arrested suspects into digital and searchable format.
6. With this system, the Nigeria Police is not only set to comply with the provisions of the Administration of Criminal justice ACT 2015 to capture and remit to the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation all biometrics of suspected persons arrested by the Police but also put the Police in a position to key into the Presidential directives that all data capturing Government Agencies should harmonize and integrate Personal Identities captured by such agencies on or before the end of 2016.
7. Furthermore, the facility has been set up to complement the existing Forensic Laboratory in Lagos. In addition, the Digital Resource Centre was designed to serve as an information processing centre where outcomes of analysed pieces of forensic evidence or other specialised policing materials or criminal information are disseminated in the most secure fashion to other Police Formation. It has the capacity for accessing over five (5) million Law Enforcement Research materials such as journals, reports, Force orders, annual reports, forensic books and publications by renowned Police authors and experts around the world over.
8. From the Digital Resource Centre, officers can conduct research from any facet of policing through the FCIID robust data portal also connected to the INTERPOL Global Learning Centre, Singapore. Other features include full display of digital maps as well as crime scene investigation, and forensic videos. Furthermore, the centre will serve as a central Unit for training, presentation and strategic meetings for the various sections of the FCIID.
9. Ladies and gentlemen, the dream of acquiring this forensic asset for the Force would have remained a mere illusion, but for the steadfastness and strong commitment of DIG Christopher Katso, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department and his Team.
10. Permit me, therefore to commend the Police team that coordinated the implementation of this Project. Looking back, they can be proud that through their sense of commitment to duty, they have aided my leadership in bequeathing to our dear nation a new Police Force that citizens have been desiring for decades. I am indeed proud and appreciative of you.
11. To my fellow professional colleagues who will utilise the facility being commissioned today, let me remind you that modern policing is no longer by power, might or extra-judicial means. It is driven by application of technology, forensic science, intelligence and above all, citizen’s consent. The Force leadership has by this commissioning exercise, equipped you with a vital tool to guide your operations, investigations and prosecutorial engagements. You now have no excuse to operate in unprofessional manner. You, rather, now have the means to align your operations to the rule of law, citizens’ professional expectations, and best international practices. I trust that you shall up your policing game, accordingly.
12. I thank you all for your attendance and pray for God’s Divine Protection over our beloved nation.

TROOPS CARRY OUT CLEARING OPERATIONS IN KIRCHA DUNGUS AND OTHER AREAS

In a follow up operation to ensure proper clearance of suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts and prevent the fleeing terrorists escaping from Operation CRACKDOWN, troops of the 155 Task Force Battalion, carried out a swift clearance operation at Kircha Dungus village and surrounding environment, yesterday evening.

During the operation, the troops encountered pockets of the Boko Haram terrorists in which they killed 4 of them while few others fled leaving behind 4 women and a child. The troops have rescued and evacuated them for screening and further rehabilitation.

While checking the general area, the troops further discovered a pair of military desert camouflage uniform and a Boko Haram terrorists' flag hoisted in the village. They also recovered a Generator set and water pumping machine.

Similarly, troops of 7 Division Strike Group Team B, attached to 21 Brigade have braved harsh climatic conditions to also clear 7 villages of Boko Haram terrorists presence north east of Kumshe village.

The villages are; Mulfuta, Baibawa, Jenere, Bembem, Maksamari, Bula Kafie and Bula Bodi.

During the advance to Jenere, the troops encountered some Boko Haram terrorists elements that engaged the troops in fierce battle. The troops were able to kill 2 terrorists, wounded several others and continued with their patrol to Jenere-Hausari.

Here, they discovered that the Boko Haram terrorists now evolved new tactics of evading surveillance by drones and aircrafts. They now hide in makeshift camps covered with shrubs. The troops recovered some motorcycles, 2 Dane guns, large quantity of foodstuffs stored in a well constructed storage facility and solar panels.

Thereafter, the troops proceeded to Bembem, where the suspected Boko Haram terrorists also laid an ambush for them. It was however cleared successfully although a soldier sustained gun shot wound during the clearance. He has been evacuated and receiving treatment.

The team discovered and rescued some hostages held by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area. Although the patrol team did not encounter any terrorists in Maksamari, they made a very rewarding recovery of an invaluable communication gadget.

Through it, the troops discovered the terrorists new tactics and dispositions.
In a related development, troops of the newly created 8 Task Force Division have commenced operations in earnest.

The formations and units under its command have equally been involved in clearance operations through daily patrols, raids and offensive actions against remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.

It is in line with this that the troops of 153 Task Force Battalion conducted aggressive patrol to Gudusuri, Malalewa, Khadaamari, Rundi and Mugu villages in northern parts of Borno State. Although they did not encounter Boko Haram terrorists in the area, the troops recovered 5 vehicles, 6 motorcycles and 1 Boko Haram terrorists’ flag.

In same vein, some elements of the same unit deployed at the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Old Marte, conducted another patrol to New Marte yesterday to clear suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in the area.

Similarly, troops of 242 Battalion deployed at FOB Gajiganna along with 2 Civilian JTF, went on patrol to Goni Kanuburi village. Here too, no contact was made with the Boko Haram terrorists as they all fled the area.

It was the same story when the patrol team of 242 Battalion deployed at FOB Gajiram, patrolled Galle village.

The troops of 157 Task Force Battalion, 7 Brigade, have also continued to conduct fighting patrols to continue to prevent remnants of Boko Haram terrorists freedom of action or escaping.

Thank you for your usual and kind cooperation.

1st of all its unprofessional.

But the picture depicts joint exercise between NA infantry and NSCDC men. Most training involving infantry men especially in depot Nigeria army infantry HQ in zaria, you don't see them wear body armour. You only see few gear and there bag pack.

Even with foreign army/military they don't wear it, they only kit with gear/back packs like the picture below...... grin. I only see body armour on our troops on missions, reason for such act I don't know....... shocked
