The troops located and recovered 2 heavy IEDs buried in the ground by suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists. In the process of recovering the deadly IEDs, the troops intercepted 4 fleeing suspected Boko Haram terrorists that alleged that were on their way to surrender to troops. On preliminary investigation, they were identified as confirmed Boko Haram terrorists members planting IEDs along troops routes by their arrested colleague, Lawan Abbai. Fighter Jets Target Al Shabaab Bases Unknown fighter jets have bombed Al Shabaab militants' checkpoints in the town of Jilib, about 300km south of Somalia's capital Mogadishu, witness said. The air strikes which targeted militants from Somali armed group took place last night in Hargeisa yarey, according to a witness, who spoke to Shabelle Media and asked to be unnamed because of reprisal attack. The deaths and injuries resulted from the strikes reported but it could not be independently verified how many were killed and wounded in the attack. The telecommunication in the town where militants were bombed, has been cut off, local sources said. Last month, several Kenyan defense forces (KDF) backed by foreign forces launched attacks on Al Shabaab bases in the town.

Russia sells 12 helicopters to Nigeria Russia is going to supply six Mi-8/17 helicopters and six Mi-35M helicopters, Sergey Goreslavsky, Deputy Director General of "Rosoboronexport", said to reporters on Friday. It was previously reported that the contract was signed, but no clarity was given with regard to the number of helicopters to be supplied. "In August we signed a large contract with Nigeria for the delivery of Mi-35 helicopters and Mi-17 helicopters. The contract is rather extensive: it provides for 12 aircraft, i.e. 6 helicopters of each configuration", said Mr. Goreslavsky at the Africa Aerospace & Defence 2014. Regarding the delivery time frame, he said that the first consignment may be delivered within one year. "Depending on the terms and conditions of the contract, the first helicopter is normally supplied in one year. In 12 months, in general, first consignments are supplied to customers", explained Mr. Goreslavsky. http://www.russianhelicopters.aero/en/press/publications/6138.html Please I av a a question to ask here...? Why these chops has not being delivered yet since sept 2014. 1 Like |

bidexiii: We are just hopeless and Irredeemably corrupt! "I don't understand." If you see the recent "arms audit report", God knows, you'll shed tears. Our military leaders are just too corrupt..... Jesus Christ! It is so brazen and in your face, it's so unfortunate. If the past military/politicians leaders don't burn in hell, nobody on earth would go to hell. Thank God, we have all them Dasuki, Amosu, Badeh and the rest in jail. Witch-hunt or not, the levels of corruption in the military has to stop. I mean, we paid for 42 second hand T-72 Tanks at over $2.2 million a unit. That's unit price of a brand-new Tank. The company who collected $2.2 million dollars from us for each of those Tanks, filled a lawsuit in the US explicitly stating that a similar T-72 for which Nigeria paid 2.2 million dollars for cost them $88,000. 1 Like |

But at least, those top brass should av feelings for what those field soldiers are undergoing. At least give them proper fighting tools and equipment if not nothing. Those field soldiers should not blame the civilian/federal government but there top military leaders. $2.2 million for worn out t-72's......God av mercy. |

Henry240:OMG...what kind of corruption is this.now i think it isn't just about human rights violation that makes america unwilling to sell to us some lethal militarry hardwares,is the level of corruption in our country. And to make matters worse the russian company had to file a lawsuit against us in the same america. What a shame No wonder our sunday school teachers taught us to say''God bless you''when we are wronged.God is watching us all. Oga henry how many t-72 tank do we actu'ly have.?? |

Apart from the evil religious bastarrds in the NE, We have another group of terrorists working in government appointed roles all over the country disguising as leaders, political office holders and so on. Their numbers have grown exponentially throughout the decades. Unfortunate that despite almost brought to our knees by terrorists, some effectively went all out to buy dodgy, broken, outrageously priced hardware, so that many years later, we are still struggling to end an insurgency by a bunch of largely uneducated terrorists. I never even knew our BTR 4s were no longer in good working order. Well, as it is we are many years away from having an effective system devoid of stories like this. |
Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by bidexiii: 9:56pm On Aug 13, 2016 |
BlackBaron: Mate we av to fight these type of in-house terrorists. They pose a greater threat than BHT. Many REVA's, BMP-2', BTR-4's and t-72s already out of service, not that they where damaged in combat...... how come newly purchased btr4's and REVA MRAPS will out of service with out seeing any major combat. I came across a picture showing clean Reva MRAPs without tyres and already rotten btt4s...... It saddens my heart that our top brass went for hardwares like that, no wonder why united states gave us MRAPS that where damaged.... |

guys i might sound a little too negative, but i really think this country can't work.it's too big to be controlled by leaders who are either religious fanatics or visionless, without any iota of love for the country. we need a revolution now or better still go our seperate ways. 1 Like |

bidexiii:I think the REVA's are good though which maybe expected that some would get grounded due to usage and needing parts for replacement. What I don't know is how extensive the level of support we agreed with the SA company knowing that these items would be in use very frequently. A pity that we should have had more than adequate platforms yet year on year, our acquisitions ended up looking like we got contributions from a few poorer African countries just to get on with fighting an active war. |
