The army will always deny. How do you send a soldier to the war front for three years and expect his family to be intact.

NIGERIAN AIR FORCE COMMENCES OPERATION FOREST STORM AGAINST BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS IN SAMBISA FOREST, DESTROYS MORE ILLEGAL OIL REFINERIES AND BARGES IN NIGER DELTA
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced another round of air interdiction missions codenamed ‘OPERATION FOREST STORM’ in the North East. This new phase of offensive air operations is aimed at further degrading the capabilities of the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) in the Sambisa general area with a view to restrict the freedom of action of the insurgents as well as neutralise any threat posed to movement of own ground forces in continuing with their rescue operations. The operation, which commenced about 3 days ago on 2 October 2016, is expected to last few days. During this period, the NAF would be conducting series of air interdictions to take out a number of carefully selected targets in the Sambisa Forest.
Meanwhile, the Air Component of OPERATION DELTA SAFE has continued to rid the creeks in the Niger Delta of illegal oil refineries and barges used for carrying stolen petroleum products. The NAF today, using the EC-135 helicopters, destroyed illegal refineries and barges along east of Isaa town, Borikiri, old Bakana as well as Bakana and Bille Communities. Armed patrol over the affected areas also showed other illegal human activities as people were seen digging bays to bury storage tanks, drums and jerry cans. While urging these criminal elements to seek legitimate means of livelihood, it is pertinent to state that the NAF will not relent in its spirited effort to stamp out these acts of economic sabotage and illicit activities in the region and other parts of the country.

NAF SIGNS MoU WITH PORTUGAL ON LOCAL PRODUCTION OF UAV

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAVision of Portugal. The MoU is aimed at enhancing existing collaboration between NAF and UAVision of Portugal for local production of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in Nigeria. It is pertinent to note that the discussion that led to the signing of today’s agreement actually began few months ago. Already, the collaboration had led to production of 4 UAVs prototypes with 2 each produced in Nigeria and Portugal.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar has expressed the optimism that the locally produced UAVs would be commissioned before the end of October 2016. The CAS, further in his speech, identified other areas of possible collaboration with Portugal to include tactical flying training for NAF pilot and aircraft maintenance, stating that the essence of the collaboration is to exploit every areas of Portuguese technological development with a view to taking the NAF to the next level.

MILITARY WILL ABIDE WITH NEGOTIATION EFFORT OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, BUT...

The Defence Headquarters has re-emphasised that military will continue to abide with the ongoing negotiation effort of the Federal Government with militants in order to have peaceful settlement of the Niger Delta problem.

However, while trying to achieve this feat, the military would not take kindly with any individual or group taking military’s good gesture of adherence to ceasefire and peaceful disposition to the impasse for granted, otherwise military will respond proportionately to any armed attacks against its location in a decisive but professional manner in line with its constitutional mandate of defending innocent citizens as well as national critical infrastructure.

It is also instructive to state that the Armed Forces has the capacity to defend itself just as it did recently when a group of misguided elements under the militancy guise attacked its location at Efut Esighi waterfront in Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State where they paid dearly for their evil act.

The Armed Forces therefore warns various belligerent groups in either the Niger Delta or any other part of the nation to desist from any act capable of jeopardising peace and security of our country or they will regret the consequences of their evil action.

The Armed Forces of Nigeria would continue to partner with peace-minded groups and stakeholders to bring lasting peace in any security threatened areas or locations.

Uavision produces unique drone systems but definitely not military grade. Collaboration would be more restricted to training and servicing.
Definitely a good move by the NAF. The drones would help reduce flying hours on the ISR aircrafts.

I think also maybe because they are more liable to have advanced production capabilities than say the NAF. It'll be beneficial to tap into their engineering expertise to develop advanced platforms fit for military purposes.

At the moment, I can only see a light UAS certification for Uavision however if they play their cards right, they can scale up to become a manufacturer of military grade uavs

The NAF his doing a lot developing indigenous technology by partnering with foreign companies, like wise the navy. The NN of recent signed a MOU with the Indian navy on technology transfer on building ships, which I believe in recent will see development in recent ships that are to be built in nigeria.

My question is why is the army lacking behind.....?

Pentagon: Airstrikes hit Daesh positions in Libya

The Pentagon claims that US military aircraft has struck Daesh positions in the Takfiri group's former stronghold in Sirte, Libya.

The US aircraft pounded Daesh targets over the weekend, as the US' so-called air campaign entered its third month, the Pentagon said Monday.

The aircraft conducted 20 airstrikes on Sunday alone, hitting mostly "enemy fighting positions," according to the US military's Africa Command.

Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said that all US air raids are done upon requests by UN-supported Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), while the GNA has repeatedly denounced the presence of the foreign forces, saying it violates Libya's sovereignty.

"Every one of the strikes we do is based on a request from them, and we are down now into the last, densest part of the city," Davis said.

"As they get to the dense areas, it's very hard to take out these sniper positions with anything other than air strikes."

Following the 2011 overthrow and death of longtime dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been the scene of chaos and violence.

Daesh took advantage of the turmoil in the country, taking over a strip of coastal land, including Sirte, in June 2015.

The GNA forces started a large-scale military operation in May to purge Daesh from Sirte. Bombings and sniper fire, however, have hindered their progress in retaking the town.

The United States has deployed attack helicopters, fighter jets and Special Operation forces to Libya to allegedly help local forces fighting Daesh terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan back in 2012 to fight against the Syrian government.

The US has also been conducting airstrikes in other countries, including Syria and Iraq, allegedly to target Daesh militants; however, civilians and he countries' infrastructures have borne the brunt of deadly attacks.

This is the most unintelligent misogynistic comment i've ever seen in my life.
Talk about someone still stuck in the analogue age.
Female soldiers are now in U.S navy seals and fly combat missions for the Israeli air force
As well as have fought in the Israeli army for donkey years.
In Nigeria here, Queen Amina of Zaria (1533-1610) was a soldier and warrior.

Katyusha:
Nonsense....what business do females have commanding combat units? The decision to admit females into NDA for the RC was purely political.... Even female West Point grads don't command combat units.

Captain Aliyu: Why is this post not fully manned?!
Private Okoro: Sir, we are awaiting orders.
Captain Aliyu: From who?!
Private Okoro: The platoon commander....Sir, she is on maternity leave.
Captain Aliyu: What?!
Private Okoro: Yes Sir..last week, we had to suspend operations as she was suffering from a bout of postmenstrual stress.

Female Combatants my ass...Feminist nonsense.

NAF RECEIVES PATENT RIGHT CERTIFICATE FOR LOCAL PRODUCTION OF HYDRAULIC DIAPHRAGM ON MI-35P HELICOPTER

The National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, has awarded the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) the patent right certificate for local production of hydraulic diaphragm on the Mi-35 helicopter. The certificate, awarded by NOTAP on 29 September 2016, was presented today to the CAS, Air Mshl Sadique Abubakar by the Chief of Standards and Evaluation, AVM SS Bala-Ribah at a brief ceremony held in Abuja.

The NAF, in 2011, had gone into research and development on local production of the hydraulic diaphragm in order to address the increasing difficulties faced in procuring the items from abroad. More so, there was the need to reduce the downtime in maintaining the Mi-35P helicopter fleet because of their critical roles in the counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations in the North East. By 2012, the 3-man team, comprising Air Cdre Imafidor, MWO Moses and Sgt Bawa, recorded its initial breakthrough when it produced the first prototype. This however did not last beyond 4 flying hours after installation on the aircraft. With further research, the team was able to produce other prototypes, and eventually recorded its major breakthrough with the 5th prototype produced in 2013. This lasts more than 150 hours on the aircraft, even more than the one produced by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). It also has the additional advantage of dual application on both the Mi-35P and Mi-24V helicopters unlike the one produced by the OEM which only works on one helicopter type.

The certificate presentation marks a major feat in the research and development efforts by the NAF to achieve technological self-reliance. It is also a plus at this time of economic downturn by saving the nation scarce foreign exchange that otherwise would have been spent if the item were to be procured from abroad

You are not been fair to the Nigerian Army. Their operations are more spread across the length and breadth of the country and they have more mouth to feed angry.
Maybe you look at it from the budget allocation angle but truth be told they are most stretched of the three arms. It will definitely cost more if the army was to embark on some serious upgrading.

They are not regulars, look at the 2nd picture u will see a NN SBS batch.

In the NN and NAF only SBS & QRF respectively uses the tarvor riffle. And if you look at the 3rd & 2nd pic closely it's the north eastern part of Nigeria. Even 3rd picture his at a N.E frontal base.

To some extent u might be right but amidst the over stretching through of the army in all front, we just av to find a away to develop the army. At least upgrading has you said and we ar not doing that at the moment.

Amidst tough times and challenges his the best time to develop & look for solutions, not untill present hardware phases out and we start to look for replacement...?
