3rd and 4th pictures are NA women soldiers @ the front-lines, kudos to dis brave women !

I make contributions from a standpoint of knowledge , experiential competence and not just hear say. I am expecting that this discourse will encourage greater debate and galvanise decision makers to be informed and raise their expectation which currently are so low they are abysmal.

My criticisms are intended to be critical. I have one major handicap which is my background is essentially British military nonetheless , I did spend time with a lot of Nigerian officers in Nigeria amongst other experiences.

The first picture is a Grizzly APC 6X6 not an IFV it is based on the Mowag Piranha first introduced by the Canadian armed forces in the late 1970's and then as part of their contribution to the UN peace effort in Sudan literally dashed to Nigeria, we may have purchased some as surplus stock from the Swiss or other European users. Theses vehicles are in the region of 35 years old I believe oil rich Nigeria can do much much better than that. On this forum may not be wise to discuss the efficacy of its armour, all I will say if you ever come across direct HMG Fire 50cal. + jump off and leave the vehicle. Furthermore this ancient vehicle has no precision offensive weaponry or FLIR. It is certainly not an IFV to be used in forward assaults. How much is it worth mainly as scrap metal about $2000 if that.

This shows the value our political leaders and top brass place on our gallant soldiers, this is in my opinion is wilful neglect, dereliction of duty and borders on TREASON

Nice contribution, hmmm but I think there ? I did not tag or named them infantry fighting vehicles "IFV" .no I do not made that mistake !
To furtherly buttress ur point, most of these APC where dusted frm there store where they where kept for years and being repaired/refurbished and some serviced. And that was why mainly these "brave soldiers so to say" abandon and flee leaving these obsoletes armored vehicles behind becos they cannot trust there lives with them. And they leave it in the arms of BH !
The bottom line is nothing works in a corrupt society as I have always said !

Court Martial Acquits Brigade Commander, Says No Weapon Was Approved For His Unit !
The brigade commander of the 23 Armoured Brigade in Yola, Adamawa State, Victor Ebhaleme, has been acquitted by a general court martial holding at the 9 brigade officer’s
mess, Ikeja cantonment. Mr. Ebhaleme, a colonel, was accused of failing to ensure that support weapons approved for units under his brigade were collected.
He was arraigned on a lone count charge of negligent
performance of military duty under section 62b of the
Armed Forces Act.
A military source told PREMIUM TIMES that available
evidence in court showed that there was no such approval
for the weapons.
The colonel was arraigned alongside 21 other officers
including a Brigadier-General, J.O Komolafe, on January 19.
The investigating officer of the case against Mr. Ebhaleme
told the court that the brigade commander was never
indicted during the entire investigation.
Following this, the colonel’s counsel, Femi Oyebanji, a
retired Major, representing the Falana and Falana
chambers, made a no case submission at the close of the
prosecution.
He said essential elements to prove the charge was not
established, he therefore urged the court to discharge and
acquit the officer.
The General Court Martial headed by S. D Aliyu, a Major
General, upheld a no case submission and subsequently
discharged and acquitted Mr. Ebhaleme.
Also, a different general court martial convened to try a
Brigadier General, Enitan Ransome Kuti, and four other
senior officers, blamed for the loss of Baga in Borno State,
to Boko Haram insurgents in January, is expected to
resume sitting Thursday.
The court adjourned May 4 due to some issues raised
during its inauguration.
Mr. Ransome-Kuti, his Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel G.A. Suru, and some other senior officers, were arrested for
failing to repel Boko Haram attack on the headquarters of
the Multinational Joint Task Force [MNJTF] in Baga.
Mr. Ebhaleme is the first publicly known senior officer
cleared by the military in its trial of hundreds of soldiers
accused of misdeeds in the fight against Boko Haram.

Nigerian Soldiers Kill Many Terrorists, Rescue 20 Women &
Children From Sambisa.

The Defence Headquarters on Saturday said scores of Boko Haram terrorists had died and 20 women and children had been rescued during a military operation in Sambisa forest in Borno, on Friday.
This is contained in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen Chris Olukolade. ”Despite continuous encounter with large number of land mines which still litter the Sambisa forest, troops have forged ahead with the ongoing offensive operations as scores of the terrorists died in the assault on their bases on Friday,’’ Olukolade said.
He said several of the terrorists’ weapons and equipment perished during the encounter.
According to him, over 10 soldiers were, however, wounded, while one died, following explosions of land mines along the routes of advance.
He said some equipment were also damaged or affected by the detonation of land mines in several points in the forest.
”A total of 20 women and children were rescued at the end of the Friday operation. They have all been airlifted out of the forest. ”The wounded soldiers have also been moved out for necessary treatment. ”Two major ammunition dumps maintained by the terrorists in the forest were also destroyed, along with the four additional terrorists camps that were smashed in the operation of Friday,’’the defence spokesman said.
He added that an armoured tank and over 10 vehicles of various types being used for terrorists operations as well as 70 motorcycles and 15 tricycles had also perished during the operation.
He said air and artillery bombardment of identified terrorists camps and locations in various parts of the forest, including the Alafa aspect, were still ongoing as troops continued the offensive against the terrorists.
Olukolade also said that a cordon-and-search operation around Bitta, Borno, had been intensified following an incident where two young boys
were wounded after picking up a grenade from a refuse dump.
The weapon is believed to have been abandoned by terrorists that fled the
town that is not too far from Sambisa forest.
He said aggressive patrols and surveillance by land and air were also being maintained in the general area.

BOKO HARAM WARNS TREKKERS TO DESIST

The dreaded Fundamentalist Group Boko Haram have issued a stern warning to all those who are currently trekking to felicitate with any of the winners of the previously concluded 2015 General Elections. This warning was issued through a YouTube Video Post, where a hooded spokesman surrounded by the Sects’ flag and armed terrorist claimed that th Boko Haram minions were manning the routes from Maiduguri to Lagos through Abuja, and they would not hesitate to maim anybody they find trekking along that route.

In fact, according to their spokesman, the top members of the Boko Haram Sect are grossly unhappy that no body endeavored to trek for them after all they have done to restore sanity in Northern Nigeria. According to him,
“We the Boko Haram revolutionized Islam in Nigeria and we helped to instill the fear of Allah in Nigerians. Yet nobody trekked for us. This Man they call GMB has not even done anything yet and everybody is trekking for him. Walahi Talahi if we catch anybody trekking on the road again we will cut off that persons legs. Let him see whether GMB will care anything about him after we cut off his legs.”

Meanwhile the Nigerian Army in a reply to this threat decided to call is bluff and encourage Nigerians to g about trekking without the fear or Boko Haram. According to the DMI, 14th Brigade, “What does Boko Haram mean when they say they will maim trekkers? Which weapons will they use? The battle against the Boko Haram terrorists is almost over and we have cut them off at different points. Please anybody that want to trek should go on trekking. In fact we are waiting for Nigerians to trek to celebrate the Nigerian Army”.

Captured video appears to show foreign fighters in Nigeria's Boko Haram.

Video footage found in captured Boko Haram camps by Nigeria's military and seen by Reuters seems to give some of the clearest indication that foreign fighters hold positions of power within the Nigerian Islamist militant group.

The military says it is analysing the footage to identify fighters and study the group's internal dynamics.

The Nigerian government has previously spoken of foreign influence within the ranks of the jihadists but lacked hard evidence to back up its assertion.

"They (foreigners) carry arms and fight alongside the other terrorists," a senior military source, who declined to be identified, said. "They are also experts and trainers."

Reuters was not able to establish how many other foreigners were at the filmed event or what percentage of the militants' fighting force they account for overall.

In 2012, Boko Haram was reported to be receiving training from al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), although there has been little to back up claims of foreigners at the core of the group beyond anecdotal evidence from civilians who escaped or soldiers who fought them.

Boko Haram, which loosely translates as "Western education is sinful" in the northern Hausa language, began an insurgency in 2009 to establish a state adhering to strict sharia law.

The footage shows Boko Haram administering sharia judgments in front of a big crowd in a field stained with blood with a man speaking in Sudanese Arabic.

"God ordered all believers to enforce his punishments," the man, whose face is completely covered by a white turban, says to camera. "God ordered us to cut off the hand of the thief and flog the adulterer and adulteress."

SHARIA LAW

Standing in the middle of a circle formed by the crowd and near a preacher shouting into a loudspeaker in Hausa, the man appeared to be overseeing at the gathering called to implement sharia law.

A man wearing a black turban stands next to him as he speaks in Arabic and occasionally nods in agreement while another waves the group's black flag behind them. Turbans in this style are not typical in Nigeria's northeast.

In other parts of the film, men and women are flogged and several have hands amputated while the crowd cheers. A man is also stoned to death after being buried up to his head in a pit.

The military says it believes the events took place in southeastern Borno state in or near the town of Gwoza, Boko Haram's former headquarters. The distinctive Mandara mountain range can be seen in the background. There was no time stamp to indicate when the half hour of video was filmed but a shorter, edited version of the film was released after the group took over Gwoza last summer.

The discovery of the footage was reported in local Nigerian media and Reuters made a request to view the footage, which was granted by the military. The Nigerian military has not publicly released the footage while its analysts worked on identification and the workings of the group.

"It (footage) helps document their atrocities as evidence in the event of any trial," a senior military source said, adding:

"To understand their pattern or mode of operation ... and equipment in their possession with other information, is vital for intelligence." Reuters was unable to independently authenticate the footage and Boko Haram could not be reached for comment. Reuters viewed four separate videos.

BOKO HARAM LESS MEDIA SAVVY

Boko Haram started as a clerical movement in Nigeria's Borno state capital, Maiduguri, with a core membership from the Kanuri ethnic group spread around the Lake Chad basin.

Boko Haram is less media savvy than the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, to which it pledged allegiance in March.

The Islamic State is known for its slick, technically proficient propaganda videos, which attracted fighters from around the world.

Far less is known about Boko Haram's internal structure or how it ran the towns it took, though survivors recount rapes, starvation and beatings.

Reuters also saw raw footage of a video titled "Harvest of Spies", released in edited form in March, which copied Islamic State videos and showed the beheading of two men accused of being undercover government agents.

The six-year Boko Haram insurgency has seen thousands killed and many abducted. Boko Haram kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls near the northern village of Chibok in April 2014, causing international outcry.

Nigeria's army said it has freed over 700 women and children in the last month during an operation to wrest back the Sambisa Forest, a vast former colonial game reserve.

The group, notorious for violence against civilians, controlled an area roughly the size of Belgium at the start of the year but has since been beaten back by Nigerian troops, backed by Chad, Niger and Cameroon.

Nigeria has regained most of the territory since February and launched an offensive last month to root the militants out of their last stronghold in the Sambisa forest.

Boko Haram has been splintered but is not completely quashed. There are signs already that it is returning to its old guerilla-style tactics after attacking Maiduguri and hitting several other towns, including with suicide bombers.

Nigerian Military Nabs Bomb Makers in Gombe… Calls for
Vigilance During Inaugurations

Posted by Chris OLUKOLADE">Chris
OLUKOLADE on May 28, 2015

A cordon and search operation conducted by troops in Gombe has yielded the arrest of 3 bomb making experts. The arrested persons are suspected to be members of the terrorists group in search of soft targets for attack after
being dislodged from the stronghold in Sambisa forest and other enclaves.
Items recovered from the apprehended include a tricycle and materials for making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation.
Cordon and search is continuing in certain localities and will be intensified along with mopping up operations in locations where offensive operations are being conducted.
The essence is to apprehend the terrorists who have been dislodged from their sanctuaries and are in search of escape routes or resorting to attacking soft targets.
In line with this development, the public is enjoined to be extra vigilant and to report suspicious movements or activities within their environs. The military is poised to
ensure that the ongoing operations are duly aligned with security arrangement nationwide towards forestalling any attempt by terrorists or other criminal groups planning to breach security or disrupt the inaugurations activities
anywhere in the country.

Boko-Haram Commander ( Name Undisclosed ) was nabbed by the members of The Nigerian Army in Yola while trying to meet up with the rest of his men already in Yola to continue their evil acts.

He disguised in a Lady's dress to uncover his identity, but smart men of the Nigerian Army intelligently outsmart the Evil Sect Commander.

He was taken to the nearest Army station where investigations were carried out with ideal interrogation from him, which was an herculean task. After much investigation, he later confessed of his mission to meet up with his men, who are already in Yola.

The Nigerian army are currently working effortlessly to make sure the rest of his members were also brought to justice.

Boko Haram Islamists raided two towns in northeastern
Nigeria, torching public buildings and looting food and fuel
stores, residents and a police officer told AFP on Sunday.
Islamist gunmen in pick-up trucks and on motorcycles
stormed the towns of Galda and Fika in Yobe state late
Saturday, firing wildly and forcing residents indoors.
The latest violence in the region comes shortly after
President Muhammadu Buhari took office on Friday vowing
to crush the Islamist group that has waged a six-year
insurgency.
After repelling a military offensive, Boko Haram stormed
Fika, 150 kilometres (95 miles) from the state capital
Damaturu, burning a police station and public buildings
including a law court, a local administration building and a
primary school.
“Boko Haram gunmen came in two pick-up trucks and on
several motorcycles around 9:00 pm (2000 GMT) and kept
firing shots haphazardly and firing RPGs on the police
station where they forced the policemen to flee and
residents to run indoors,” Fika resident Abubakar Maigoro
said.
The Islamists also torched a cluster of government-built
homes for civil servants and 13 vehicles parked outside
people’s houses, Maigoro said.
“They burnt all the telecom masts in the town and we have
to go to hill tops in the bush where we can get phone signals
to make calls,” resident Ibrahim Sagir said.
No information on casualties is available because
communications are down.
Troops who mobilised from Potiskum, 50 kilometres (30
miles) away, to combat the Islamists were outgunned and
forced to withdraw after intense fighting, Maigoro and Sagir
said.
Boko Haram radicals also attacked Galda, 20 kilometres (12
miles) from Fika, at around 8 pm (1900 GMT).
“The gunmen stormed our town firing everywhere to scare
people away before breaking into shops and carting away
food and jerry cans of petrol,” resident Muhammad Garba
said.
A police officer in Potiskum confirmed the accounts.
“Fika and Galda came under attack from Boko Haram last
night. They burnt several public buildings in Fika and looted
shops in Galda,”he said, asking not to be named because he
was not authorised to speak to the media.
“Soldiers deployed from here but they were overpowered by the gunmen,” he said. “We are yet to receive any report on casualties.
Communication with the area has been disrupted as a result
of the burning of telecom masts in the attacks.”
The reports of the raids came after a deadly suicide
bombing inside a mosque in the city of Maiduguri killed at
least nine people on Saturday just a day after Buhari was
sworn in.
Overnight Friday, residents in a suburb south of the same
city woke to the sound of RPGs being fired as Boko Haram
tried to advance.
