360command: True Talk! However it takes more than stable electricity for a manufacturing business to survive.. Red tapes, bureaucracy, monopolies, ready market, taxation etc. Cameroon is not a tax friendly country.. I was shocked at the Nigerian VAT.. VAT is 19.25% in Cameroon. Once you are into manufacturing you become a point of exploit for the taxation officials.. That said what in your opinion would be a good manufacturing scheme for me? Considering a modest capital. You also realise I would need to import machinery. The Cameroon custom system is the most unfriendly in Africa.. A total cut throat. |

airsaylongcon: Thank you very much. "Myongo man" would stand for a ritualist, cultist, juju-man etc..Lol Sadly in Cameroon most financially successful people are often associated with "myongo" by the poor and lazy ones. An unfortunate situation born out of envy and jealousy.. I am blessed with a good tongue and would easily assimilate wherever I find myself. 1 Like 1 Share |

godoluwa: I don't believe you are a Nigerian thus finding it hard to take your advice..Lol On A serious note I am 100% Cameroonian and have never been to Nigeria before. A few people have proposed agriculture on this thread and I will look into it. However business becomes enjoyable when you do what you got a passion for! I know of a few car dealers in Cameroon who have gone as far as Cotonou to procure vehicles. Sadly the risks involves deters many. Getting a vehicle into Cameroon through land border is as complicated as Nigerian politics.Lol |

BlackLeopard: Wow thank you very much.. Very informative site.. I could not help laughing that the form I will need to begin the process is obtainable from a Bank..Lol AfriBank Nigeria Plc.. Naija I hail! In fact the card known as CERPAC is my green card valid for two years.. The most interesting thing is Cameroonians are in a category of their own..For a two years residential permit I am required to pay 480$ while other NON ECOWAS African nationals are required to pay 400$..So in other words if the CEO of MTN Nigeria is a South African his residential permit is 80 Dollars cheaper than mine.. 1 Like |

Boss13: Thank you very much. Actually there is a part of Cameroon that speaks English and pidgin English. Someone posted a link to the Nigerian immigration service and it was very helpful. Sadly Cameroonians are required to pay a little more than other African nationals. I find that to be quite alarming, judging from the fact the Southern part of Cameroon has an interlocking history with Nigeria. In 1961 had my grand parents voted otherwise, we would have been a part of Nigeria like the people of Adamawa and Taraba States. During the scramble for Africa the Germans colonised Kamerun. After the First world war when they were defeated, their colonised territories were seized and given to other foreign powers.. Cameroon was partitioned into two. The bigger part given to France (Cameroun) and two smaller portions given to Britain.. Northern Cameroon and Southern Cameroon. The British administered the South and North as a part of Nigeria. In fact before the 1960's the Southern and Northern Cameroon had representation in the Nigerian Assembly. In 1960 the East of Cameroon won independence from France. In 1961 Southern Cameroon clamoured for independence.. However it was regarded as too small to gain self independence. Two options were put on the table by the UN. A: Reunification with French Cameroon or Integration with Nigeria.. The small portion in the North decided to join Nigeria while the South voted overwhelmingly to reunite with Cameroun.. The region in the South still has English as its official language. The map below should give you an idea of what I mean..

coonz: Bafoussam is just an hour away from Bamenda. At such you are bound to meet a good amount of anglophones living there. The indigents are known as the Bamilekes. They are the Igbo's of Cameroon. Industrious, hardworking, business oriented, prosperous. Very crafty though!..Lol Wow an office in Bonanjo means you are in a white collar business. I have a car sales point in Akwa. The bridge in Edea is one of the German pyramids scattered around the country..Solid structures that are over a hundred years old but still in good shape! |

aspirebig: Haha.. I only just noticed your comment.. I can't show this to my wife. She will definitely do the following if I do -Refuse to buy from the Papa Chidimeze who operates a small grocery shop in our quarter - Refuse to buy fruits and vegetable from Amaka - Refuse to take our vehicles to Uzor the mechanic who does our servicing - Refuse the kid's from attending Olama's after school classes - Refuse to do her hair at Mami Chioma's saloon - Refuse to design her dress at Adesanya's designers tailoring workshop - Refuse to attend church on Sunday because of Senior Pastor Chukwu and Junior Pastor Okpara - Refuse to buy fish at the creek because everyone selling there bears either Ekaite or Inyama... - 1 Like |
