BTT: First of all, I never used the word lame ducks, I simply said in terms of military hardware, South Africa outclasses Nigeria.. BTT: Secondly, I said nothing about Tonyoh Dike and her dogs.. I simply pointed out how silly this thread is. Trying to compare the actions of one deranged South African and link it to a Company like DSTV that has made more input into Nigeria than any other cable satellite company in Nigeria and Africa is stupid as Fhuck.. Lame threads should not make the FRONTPAGE at the expense of more educative threads. BTT: Ofcourse any business can be frustrated out, it's nothing unknown to anyone.. However, who loses if DSTV leaves Nigeria? Answer is NIGERIANS.. NOLLYWOOD would lose billions, Nigerian Television stations like NTA, Silverbird, Channels, AIT, etc would lose billions. They lose that money, NIGERIANS lose their jobs. And I am not talking of the Thousands of people currently employed by DSTv or the other people who have benefitted from the multiple local shows like Idols and do hosted by DSTV. You may need to also broaden your mind on how business works as well.. The business of DStV in Nigeria is mutually beneficial.. Hundreds of Thousands of NIGERIANS make a living from DSTV.. If they leave, they still have over 15 African countries that they operate in. Kicking them out because one Mad fellow killed Lucky Dube mistaking him for a Nigerian is just utterly ridiculously foolish. BTT: Well, go ahead then.. Does that make it okay? You want to act mad because some low level South Africans are acting mad? Go ahead.. However, legally, if caught, you would be tried for capital murder and your sentence would not be affected by the fact that your victim was South African. BTT: MadCow is a Moniker not my Name.. It's like me saying your name is BTT which it is not.. I have followed the news of the Recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa and funny enough, the people mostly affected are not Nigrians. The deaths recorded so far are South Africans killed by some Ethiopians and Somalis in self defence. The xenophobic attacks against NIGERIANS are everywhere.. In Ghana, my friends and I got mobbed by a village of over 30 people because I beat up a Ghanaian in a fight, when they realised I was a Nigerian, they started targeting all the NIGERIANS present at the scene. It took some wits and sheer guts to escape. Infact, even some of our Ghanaian school mates present joined in the mob. Now, does that make it okay for us back here to attack Ghanaians? NO! I am sure the South African Government is not paying only lip service to this issue. The matter affects more Zimbabweans, Somalis, Ethiopians and Southern Africans more than it does NIGERIANS. The attacks are always reported, but the Justice part rarely makes the news. BTT: The FHUCK are you on about now? Pardon my Swahili.. Your suggestion to stopping evil is to kill South Africans abi? And I am supposed to be the Mad cow. Go ahead and kill South Africans Na.. The people you would kill here are innocent. The solution to evil is not evil. BTT: First of all.. Lucky Dube was attacked not because he was Nigerian, but because he was driving a fancy car that the perp wanted to steal. He only shot at him during the robbery because he thought he was a Nigerian. But be that as it may, it could have been anybody. He could have been killed for a number of reasons other than being Nigerian. Many people were killed in South Africa that day, chances are he would have been killed anyway wether he was South African or not. Getting pissed off at the entire South Africa because a few South Africans are attacking Foreigners is like getting pissed off with all Muslims because BOKO Haram is killing non Muslims.. BTT: We choose to be civil because it is the right thing to do and because we are not animals. Because retributive violence only begats more violence and sets in motion a vicious cycle of hate.. We choose to be civil because we are not as ignorant as those uneducated and primitive minded Zulu touts. We are civil because we know that the percentage to South Africans that share this Xenophobic mindset are very very small and thus negligible. That is all that it is.. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

no2fuks: I never claimed to know it all, but war is not an option and kicking DSTV and MTN out will be cutting our nose to spite our face. Diplomacy is the best option. From all indications and news reports so far, No Nigerian has been affected by the attacks and the attacks are not specific to just NIGERIANS alone if at all. The embassy should be empowered to enter into dialogue with the South African government while doing all it can to help any affected NIGERIANS or even relocating them to temporary camps pending when the issue quells. |

Clone2020: How many Nigetians are attacked in Ghana. 99.9% of nigerian deaths in Ghana are commited by Nigerians. Ghanaians and Nigerians rivalry don't ussually end in death. It's more like online bickering. |

For me, we should have seen this coming a long time back but for the corrupt, inept and direction less prism through which the handlers of our foreign policy saw their brief. We failed to seize the golden moment for Nigeria when Nelson Mandela came into his own! Our management of the end of the apartheid years lacked creativity and proactivity so much so Nelson Mandela shut down and went to his grave appallingly disappointed at what Nigeria had become! I commend his utterances about Nigeria to my readers. All things being equal, Nigeria should have been his second home thus affording him and our leaders an opportunity to weld the two countries together for all time as partners and not bitter competitors we have now become culminating in this so called xenophobia. My views on this issue may not be celebrated but it does indicate the rot goes deeper! For example, how many know that Thabo Mbeki should be able to find his way around Ojuelegba in Lagos unassisted and better than many Nigerians? Truth is, he and several other South Africans who later came into leadership positions in their country lived in Nigeria educated and fed on our bill because the apartheid regime longed to have them for breakfast! When payback time came for Nigeria at the end of apartheid and commencement of black majority rule in South Africa and Thabo became President we did not leverage at all to have favours done them reciprocated. Instead our knees went weak and buckled at the altar of greed, corruption, avarice and unpatriotic zeal with our leaders cutting private deals with priviledged South Africans to compromise our wellbeing. The South Africans have so far played along as it suits them fine! What with mtn, shoprite, dstv et al reaping our large market to sustain their own economy. The result was a large exodus of about 800,000 Nigerians to South Africa in search of a better life not in sight in Nigeria. The exodus has till date been largely unplanned, uncoordinated and without well articulated goals to further our homeland interests. Informed South Africans know all these and more - it therefore cuts no ice with them when we scream xenophobia and ingratitude in the face of current unsavoury happenings under review. We need to look inward instead! |
