I was Live on a sports program on radio this morning. And the topic of discuss was related to Nigeria's chances against Egypt in Cairo. And the question was which is the worst match to play between: Playing against Egypt in Cairo, Playing against the Ivory Coast in Abidjan and playing against Ghana in Accra.

The phone lines were opened and u needed to have heard pple's shocking reactions, More so after losing to Guinea at CHAN. Nigerian fans have lost faith in Oliseh.

I, for 1 ,do nt have any good memories of the games we played against the home teams in Cairo, Accra or Abidjan from way back d 80s to date. Even during d great 90s Super Eagles era we never won any game in those three venues.

So guys which of the d 3 is the most dreaded to visit considering the present state of our Oliseh tutored Super Eagles: Cairo, Abidjan or Accra? Give reasons if u can.

ghana for me are the most difficult team to play more so at their backyard, reasons : they go the extra mile to lay their lives down on the pitch just to play the super eagles, it all boils down to pride i guess, where as we play with a level of laxity or should i say a layed back attitude the other afore-mentioned teams give everything just to play to beat us in the field of play, i give it to ghana. ivorycoast and egypt we can handle but ghana are a tough nut to crack. thats my summation my honouable speaker

Oliseh - Sober?

by Samm Audu
Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh Monday sent a letter of apology to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after his recent attacks on the federation as well as his perceived critics.

Nigeria failed to reach the knockout stage of CHAN 2016 leading to speculations over the future of Oliseh as Eagles coach.

Oliseh in turn fired back, saying his team were not motivated to go farther in the competition in Rwanda.

He also took timeout to fire salvos at “insane” critics, particularly his former international teammates, who he claimed have been most unfair to him with their attacks in the media.

A close source to the Eagles coach disclosed: “Oliseh has just sent a letter apologising for his utterances and actions.

“He said he is sorry, that he never wanted to attack the NFF or embarrass them, but rather he wanted the whole world to know they have not been given money.

“He also said he has been very frustrated after the heavy attack on him and his team after their exit from the CHAN.”

Oliseh’s seven months in charge of the Eagles have been marked by controversies.

He fell out with former captain Vincent Enyeama with striker Emmanuel Emenike also quitting international football during that time.

He has also gone public with the money problems affecting his team at CHAN to the embarrassment of his employers.

AF 2016 CHAN Mali
DRC romp to second CHAN title

DR Congo became the first team to win two African Nations Championship titles after crushing Mali 3-0 in the 2016 final at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Sunday evening.

The Leopards – who claimed their first title in the inaugural CHAN tournament in the Ivory Coast in 2009 – secured the emphatic win thanks to a brace from the brilliant Mechak Elia and a fine strike by Jonathan Bolingi.

The first clear chance of the game went the way of DRC after just five minutes, with Zacharie Mombo providing a fine cross from the left flank to pick out Mechak Elia, but the forward put his header just over the crossbar.

Mali then had a couple of chances for Mamdou Coulibaly, the second of which saw him run onto a clever lob over the defence before steering a chip just off target as DRC goalkeeper Ley Matampi sprinted off his line to put the forward under pressure.

On 29 minutes the Leopards broke the deadlock with one of the best goals of the tournament. Mecjak Elia sprinted onto a long ball down the left flank, cut inside one defender and sent an unstoppable right-footed shot beyond Djigui Diarra from a tight angle.

Mali missed out on a good chance to equalise on 35 minutes, with Matampi saving from a long-range effort but only succeeding in allowing the ball to bounce freely in the danger area, yet Abdoulaye Diarra’s follow-up was straight at the Leopards ‘keeper.

DRC doubled their advantage just after the hour mark and it was Elia who again found the back of the net, running onto a great through ball from midfield before rounding the goalkeeper and coolly finishing to make it 2-0.

On 73 minutes the Leopards killed off the match as a contest, with Jonathan Bolingi firing home a low shot from the edge of the box to make it 3-0 and wrap up the scoring in what was very much a one-sided final.

Leicester preparing £23million bid for Ahmed Musa

Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow
by Graeme Jackson

Leicester City are preparing a £23million bid for Nigerian attacker Ahmed Musa in the European summer, according to the Mirror.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri tried to lure Musa to the King Power Stadium in the recent January transfer window, but the player’s Russian club CSKA Moscow refused to sell.

CSKA are currently top of the Russian Premier League and face Dynamo Kiev in the last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League – they believe that allowing Musa to leave would hurt their ambitions for the remainder of the season.

Musa, who has scored 10 goals across all competitions this season, reminded CSKA of his worth with a goal to help beat Valarenga in a friendly last Wednesday.

The Russian club is trying to persuade Musa, who signed a new four-year deal last year, that he should remain with them for the duration of his contract and even beyond.

But the player is understood to have his heart set on a move to the Premier League and has been assured that Ranieri is impressed enough by him to continue his pursuit.

Leicester had bids of £15million and £18.7million turned down for Musa last month. Stoke and Southampton are also reportedly interested in the Nigerian.

Onigbinde: Nigeria deserve Oliseh's insult

The respected football technocrat feels coach Oliseh's comments were not unanticipated because the NFF had appointed the wrong man for the Super Eagles
EXCLUSIVE By Shina Oludare Follow on Twitter

Chief Adegboye Onigbinde has said Nigerians merited coach Sunday Oliseh’s flare-up owing to the barrage of criticisms that trailed his team’s poor outing at the African Nations Championship in Rwanda.

In two videos released via his Youtube channel on Sunday, Oliseh called those calling for his sack ‘insane’ while making a critical remark about his former teammates who he advised to pick up coaching forms and handle the national team instead of finding loopholes in his work.

“The first issue is about his appointment which he claimed he didn’t beg for the job, in other words, the NFF begged him. And I begin to ask what qualities did the NFF see in him and begged to have him lead the Super Eagles?,” Onigbinde told Goal.

“I still feel it is a big slap on the country to appoint a Nigerian or a foreigner who has never handled any club or a big team to handle the Super Eagles. That is an insult, and now the insult is now being complicated.

“Oliseh is now calling his critics insane. I watched the video and at a point was shedding tears for Nigerian football but we deserve it. Since he got this job, he has been going to Europe for treatment, shouldn’t the NFF have verified his health condition before being appointed. Now he has the gut to insult everybody.”

The former Trinidad and Tobago U17 coach insists Oliseh was never an intelligent choice for the Super Eagles owing to his inexperience and his antecedents while a national team player.

“Also talking about his experience, has he not shown inadequacy in this? For instance, see the way he handled [Vincent] Enyeama’s case.

If Oliseh was intelligent enough, he could have commiserated with him first on the loss of his mother and Enyeama would have been worshipping him but he wanted to be a boss,” he continued.

“Have Nigerians forgotten that the national team broke down in Mali as a result of gross indiscipline under his leadership and now that is the kind of person NFF feels is good enough for the Super Eagles job.

“These are the questions we failed to answer before giving him the job and to some extent, he is right in throwing hot water on the faces of those who landed him the job.

“You can imagine a coach coming out a day to the commencement of the African Nations Championship that his players are not well fed and all that, what kind of result do you expect from that kind of coach?

“The question now is, will this not affect our chances in future competitions? Now we are causing more confusion and destroying the team further.

“That is in the hands of those managing Nigeria football. I have made several enemies speaking the truth. The fact is we have administrative problems bedeviling our football,” he concluded.

For a coach telling his employers he was not going to submit a report after his team failed in CHAN is very funny, maybe that was part of the agreement he signed with them. And for a coach who has no programme and cannot submit a report about his team’s successes and failures, how then do we give a way forward?

Oliseh has disgraced indigenous Coaches. He has given the NFF enough reasons not to engage Nigerian Coaches for the job.

His apology is not even enough, he should just resign. How can Oliseh call us insane. Oh! He is indirectly refering to himself, because he devoted the whole of his time Critisising Stephen Keshi. But Keshi never took it so harsh on his critics, why Oliseh? Reason being that Oliseh is "insane."

…Forgive his utterances, Eguavoen begs NFF, Nigerians

FROM ROMANUS UGWU, ABUJA

NIGERIAN
former international, Austin Equavoen, has pleaded with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and soccer-loving Nigerians to forgive the utterances of Super Eagles chief coach, Sunday Oliseh, and rather give constructive criticisms to help him qualify Eagles for the AFCON 2017 and Russia 2018 respectively.

In a telephone chat with Daily SunSport recently, the former Super Eagles head coach noted that though the NFF ought to understand the kind of person Oliseh is, on his part, the Eagles gaffer should be cautious of his status in the society and mind his utterances.

Asked if Eagles woeful performance at the CHAN tournament would affect Eagles qualifications for Nations and World Cups, Eguavoen said: “Nobody is happy with the Super Eagles now because sending us out in the first round of the CHAN competition is not really good for the game in the country.”

“Our early exit was as a product of our domestic league. Our league was over rated by the Nigerian media and the world statistics on leagues. We may have a better outing in the next one if our leagues improve in future.

“As for CHAN affecting qualifiers, I would say that I don’t think that our unimpressive outing in Rwanda will affect our Nations and World Cups qualifiers provided we forget whatever must have transpired in CHAN.

Instead of querying this or that person, we should begin to channel all energies into the productive purpose of planning ahead.

“The energy we are dissipating talking about what was responsible for the Rwanda failure should be used to plan for the double legged ties against the pharaohs of Egypt,” he advised.

On his advice to Oliseh, he said: “It will be very difficult for me to advice Oliseh to talk less because he is the one in charge and should know how to go about his job. He has his own style and I know that everybody must not keep quite.

Everybody with his nature, Siasia, Keshi and others are not quite. Mutiu and I are the quite type.
“Mourinho was still talking even when Chelsea was not doing well.

There are people you cannot stop from talking. If we cannot change Mourinho, we cannot change Oliseh. Since it is in Oliseh’s nature to talk, the federation and the entire Nigerians must forgive and tolerate him.

“All we have to do is to let him know that he is getting to a certain position in the society where he must guide his utterances. He must also know that the qualification ticket means so much to us. He needs a lot of concentration ahead of the qualifiers.

John Ogu scores spectacular winner for club
Imhons Erons

Nigerian midfielder John Ogu was the hero for his club at the weekend as his thunderous second half strike secured all three points for his Isreali club.

Hapoel Beersheba moved six points clear at the top of the Premier League standings on Saturday night, beating Maccabi Netanya 2-0 at Turner Stadium for its 15th win from the past 17 matches.

John Ogu’s rocket from 20 meters out in the 67th minute after Elyaniv Barda’s opener on the stroke of halftime extended Beersheba’s unbeaten streak to 17 matches, stretching back to late September.

Beersheba wasn’t at its clinical best, but was more than good enough to defeat rock-bottom Netanya and pile the pressure on Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead of Sunday night’s derby against Hapoel Tel Aviv at Bloomfield Stadium.

It was the 27 year old’s second goal of the season.
The Nigerian midfield general was also pleased with the victory and was quick to praise his maker for his performance.

“Thank you great God for the victory, three points, team efforts, my 2nd (goal) of the season.

Looking forward for Tuesday's Cup game’, he wrote on his Twitter page.

John Ogu’s manager was delighted with the win while admitting that his boys had not been at their best all evening.

“I’m not looking for us to put on great displays at the moment,” said Beersheba coach Barak Bachar. “Our goal at the moment is to win matches.

Teams from the bottom section of the standings like Netanya try and close down the game and they are very difficult to beat. This is a very important win and it continues our good period.”

Beersheba visits Hapoel Haifa next week looking to set a new club record of six consecutive league victories.

“We have twice previously this season won five straight matches and didn’t manage to claim a sixth so this time we want to do it,” added Bachar.

“We have 14 matches left until the end of the season and every game will be a real battle. There is no room for mistakes and if we do our job things will work out for us.”

Oliseh should accept criticism —Ekpo, Chukwu

Idris Adesina

Christian Chukwu and Friday Ekpo have advised Nigeria coach, Sunday Oliseh, to accept criticisms in good faith, saying the same critics would definitely praise him when the Super Eagles succeed.

Oliseh in a video update on Sunday, lamented the activities of critics, who were calling for his sack after Nigeria’s failure to progress from the group stage of the Rwanda 2016 African Nations Championship. The Eagles placed third in Group C with four points behind Guinea and Tunisia.

The coach, who has been under pressure after the exit, said the calls for his sack as the coach of the team was uncalled for, adding that his critics were insane.

But Chukwu and Ekpo, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the coach should accept constructive criticisms and ignore the destructive ones.

Former Abiola Babes star, Ekpo, said, “It is sad to hear from the coach that his critics are insane; that means he doesn’t want any form of criticism from anybody on issues concerning his team.

“What Oliseh should focus on is the sense in what they are telling him. He should pick the positives from the insults and discard the negative ones.”

Former Eagles captain and coach, Chukwu, advised the coach to act maturely and concentrate on the tasks ahead.

“There are a lot to be done on the Eagles for Oliseh to engage in insulting his critics on the media,” Chukwu said.

“He should concentrate on the job he is doing and should not pay attention to everything he hears or reads. The Eagles need to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup. He has a task ahead and when he succeeds, his critics will praise him.”

Oliseh-NFF Feud: Oliseh’s Comments Irresponsible – Dudu-Orumen

By Onukogu Kanayo Jubal

As the feud between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and out-of-favour coach, Sunday Oliseh deepens, sports analyst, lawyer and the director of Cowbell Football Academy, Lagos, has joined the number of voices condemning the coach for his unguarded outbursts against his employers, following the elimination of the Super Eagles’ ‘B’ team from the 2016 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), via a 0-1 loss to Guinea.

Dudu-Orumen, who spoke to LEADERSHIP Sports, was displeased with Oliseh comments in the last few days, terming them “irresponsible”.

“I do not know the details of what transpired, but I have read in the media some comments from Oliseh and, to be candid, I think those comments are, somewhat, irresponsible. I hope he is ready to face the fall-out of those comments.”

He chided Oliseh for attacking his employers, using the media and social network.

“First off, if you have been offered a job, your employers have the right to ask you questions. That is normal; whether they are reasonable or not, you’ve got to answer [these questions]. Oliseh does not own the Eagles. The Eagles belong to us, Nigerians. It is part of his job description to answer questions about the performance of the side, because that is what he was hired to do.”

Dudu-Orumen maintained his stand that the gaffer had failed.
“Before Oliseh was hired, some of my friends were screaming his name on the rooftops, but I did let them know that the fact that a man has a first-class degree in banking and finance from Harvard should not make him the managing director of a bank.

“Clearly, Oliseh lacks the experience, which is one of the focal qualifications of the job which he has undertaken. You need experience to manage public expectations, meet these expectations and tone down on them when they are excessive.”

Dudu-Orumen conceded that the NFF may have been to blame to some extent, but refused to justify Oliseh’s comments in the media.

Also, he declared, since some of the nation’s home-grown coaches have failed, it was high-time the NFF sought the services of foreign coach.

“We have tried Augustine Eguavoen, Stephen Keshi, Amodu Shuaibu and Sunday Oliseh. What have we won without a foreign coach? Is it the 2013 African Cup of Nations where a number of under-hand tactics were deployed for Keshi to win the trophy or the World Cup which he executed with a team that had no identity?

Time and time again, our home-grown coaches have shown that they do not have what it takes to give us what we want. Sadly, the Super Eagles’ job is beyond any Nigerian coach. “Nothing shows that a Nigerian can coach the Eagles. If my memory serves me right, the first time we qualified for any major football event was the football event of the 1968 Olympics and that feat was engineered by a Hungarian. He led us through a play-off involving Nigeria, Cameroon and Sudan and, thus, we qualified for Mexico.

“In 1973,a Brazillian led us to the bronze medal. Tico was the one under whom Odegbami and many others like him blossomed. We won the Cup of Nations for the first time with Brazilian Otto Gloria. We won it for the second time with Westerhof and, also, went to the World Cup for the first time under Westerhof.

Dudu-Orumen advised the NFF to decide what to with the tactician as quickly as possible.

“How can we then invest the fortunes of 40 million football lovers and another 140 million Nigerians on one man who has not shown the readiness to get it right? I, for one, do not blame the coaches; I blame those who have given them the responsibility.

Playing football and coaching demands different sets of skills; if you have one and do not have the other, you are not ready to coach. The NFF has to make a decision quick.

“Come to think of it, what do we owe these Eagles of ’94 that they have to line up to get the job to coach the Eagles and, then, mess it up?” he wondered aloud.

Aftermath of outburst: Chukwu blasts Oliseh for calling Nigerians ‘insane’

By Tony Ubani
Former Super Eagles coach, Chairman Christian Chukwu lost his cool yesterday and lashed out at Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh over his unguarded utterances by dubbing Nigerian critics “insane and mad”.
Chukwu

Oliseh had on a U-tube clip poured venom on Nigerian critics dubbing them insane and mad for criticising his team’s mediocre outing at the just concluded CHAN tourney in Rwanda where they were bundled out after the preliminary rounds.

Chukwu said that Oliseh’s outburst was unguarded, unprofessional and insulting.

“My brother I was shocked to read the insults. That is unprofessional and pathetic. It shows that Oliseh needs help. Coaching is not only on the field, it is more also on your conduct outside. All coaches take the bashing when they lose and also take the glory when they win or do well. Even players get criticized. It is a healthy thing in football which helps the coaches to work harder. Look at Mourinho, Van Gaal. They are reputable coaches but they are always on the firing line. What fans and owners know is victory. Honestly, I think that Oliseh needs the services of a crack PR person to guard him on how to talk”.

Chukwu also took exceptions to Oliseh’s description of CHAN as the least important in CAF. “Trivializing CHAN is an insult on African football and his employers.

Didn’t he know before he went for the competition? He should have allowed his assistants to tinker the team since it was not worth playing or winning. If he had won will he be saying it was not important? When he beat Niger 4 – 1, I didn’t hear him call people celebrating as insane or mad. He should grow up”.

Chukwu also frowned at his work ethics of coaching the Super Eagles from Belgium. “Is coaching the Super Eagles from Belgium part of his contract?”, Chukwu asked.

Gabon coach Bounguendza axed, players banned for life

Former Gabon coach Stéphane Bounguendza

The Gabonese Football Federation have fired Panthers coach Stéphane Bounguendza and his entire technical staff, following the country’s poor show at the 2016 African Nations Championship.

Gabon finished bottom of their Group A after recording a draw against Morocco and back-to-back defeats to Rwanda and Côte d’Ivoire.

FEGAFOOT mentioned “insufficient results and unreached objectives” to justify their decision to wield the axe on the staff.

Meanwhile, defenders Edmond Mouele and Stevy Nzambe and striker Abdou Djamilou Atchabao have been banned for life from international duty “for unworthy and dishonorable behavior, in addition to disrespectfulness”.

Three other players have been handed a shorter suspension “for unbecoming and disgraceful conduct”, including strikers Dorian Allen Nono and Mario Mandrault and midfielder Vladimir Wils Aworet Ogoula.

Oliseh unprofessional, lacking manners - Onigbinde

Eagles coach Oliseh (middle) flanked by his assistants

Former Nigeria coach Adegboye Onigbinde has said Sunday Oliseh has been unprofessional and did not show good manners after he blasted critics as “insane”.

“Oliseh did not show good manners and he was not professional in any way,” said Onigbinde, who led Nigeria to the 2002 World Cup.

“There was no need to make so much noise about what happened in Rwanda.

“We have always maintained that when employing someone we should take into consideration their behaviour, manners and social background.”

He also argued that it was not necessary for Oliseh to attempt to take on his critics.

“I never argued with any football fan when I was in charge simply because they expressed their opinion based on what they know,” he said.

“He doesn’t need to get angry but rather appreciate these various opinions.”

Sack Oliseh but get him big pay-off - official

Oliseh - What will it be?

Cash-strapped Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will have to be ready with a handsome pay-off should they fire the country’s coach Sunday Oliseh.

Oliseh’s future as Super Eagles coach is up in the air after the country’s disappointing showing at CHAN 2016 in Rwanda and his unguarded utterances ever since.

However, top officials have now said going by the contract he signed with the NFF in July, the former Nigeria skipper will be entitled to a big pay-off should he now be sacked just seven months into a three-year contract.

Another source even hinted that the pay-off could be as much as his pay for three years, which could come down to as much as 180 million Naira.

“Sunday knows they want to sack him, but he will be waiting for them at FIFA. They have to be ready to pay out his contract sum,” said the source.

The technical committee of the NFF was inaugurated on Friday in Uyo, but their deliberations at their first meeting have remained top secret to further raise doubts about Oliseh’s future as Nigeria coach.

“Oliseh was one of the two major items on the agenda of the committee, but very little has been heard about the direction the committee has taken on this matter,” another official disclosed.

It is now expected that the NFF executive committee will meet soon to discuss the recommendations of this committee.

The Eagles coaching situation has to be resolved soon because Nigeria face two crucial AFCON 2017 qualifiers against group leaders Egypt in March and the results could well make or mar their qualification chances to Gabon.

Last year, Nigeria failed to defend the AFCON 2013 crown they won in South Africa after they did not qualify for the tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

The 20-year-old striker says he has an agreement to remain with the Owena Waves amid interests from Enyimba and Kano Pillars

Sunshine Stars striker Tunde Adeniji says he will not be leaving the club this transfer window as he targets the Nigeria Professional Football League title.

The 20-year-old was a target for champions Enyimba as well as Warri Wolves and Kano Pillars, after scoring 16 goals last term but he says he has given his word to his current club that he won’t be leaving them this window and has every intention of keeping his word.

“I already told my club that I will not be leaving them now,” Adeniji said. “Even the new coach (Samson Unuanel) called me and asked me to stay and I promised him I would.

“So for now I am still with Sunshine and I have not joined Enyimba or Kano Pillars, I am still with my club.”

When asked if he would have turned down the opportunity to play abroad if offers came, his response was rather non-committal.

He said: “Well I don’t know about that and it’s not like I didn’t get some offers but God knows best and for now I remain a Sunshine player.

“Whenever God says is the right time to move, I will move but for now I am focused on Sunshine and how we can win the league title next season,” he added.

Adeniji was part of Nigeria’s team to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda but failed to find the back of the net in three games.

Kehinde Fatai best striker in Czech Rep. in 2015

Kehinde Fatai caught the eye in his first season in Czech Republic last year

by Samm Audu

Nigeria striker Kehinde Fatai has been picked as one of the best strikers in the Czech Republic for last year by the international scouting network Instat.

The 25-year-old Fatai, who has been capped by Nigeria at U20 and U23 levels, scored a total of 12 goals in 27 appearances in 2015 for Czech club Sparta Prague.

His average shooting percentage is 65%, passing 70% and dribbles 52%.

His best three matches for the past year – Prague 3 Teplice 1 (November 8, 2015), Schalke 2 Prague 2 (October 22) and Prague 2 CSKA 3 (August 5)

The special scouting report described Fatai as "Prague’s goals machine".

The former JUTH FC of Jos star is widely seen as ‘The New Wilfried Bony’ at Prague after the Manchester City striker, who featured for the top Czech club between 2008 and 2011.

“He is a very fast player who could be the only striker upfront or in various formations – 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 3-5-2,” said Prague assistant coach Stanislav Heikal.

“He is a good finisher who proved his class in the European matches against Schakle 04 and CSKA Moscow.

“He has adapted quickly to the culture of his new country.”

“He puts defences under pressure from a good part of the pitch,” according to the Instat scouting report.

“He is a very versatile striker, who could adapt to different tactical formations. He could also play a pivotal role in his team’s counter attacks.

“He has been one of the leaders of his various European clubs. He has adapted quickly to Czech Republic and the language.”

Fatai has played most of his club football in Romania since he moved there as a 17-year-old. He also played on loan at Belgian club Club Brugge.

His Sparta Prague contract ends on June 30, 2018.

CHAN Eagles ace Madaki agrees terms with Pillars

Chris Madaki of Nigeria during the 2016 CHAN Rwanda training session

CHAN Eagles left-back Chris Madaki is on the verge of completing a move to Kano Pillars from Giwa FC ahead of the 2015/2016 season.

The former JUTH FC defender told AfricanFootball.com that his club Giwa FC and Pillars are currently holding discussions on the deal.

"I have discussed and agreed personal terms with Kano Pillars and happy with the offer,” he said.

"The deal will be completed when Giwa and Pillars agree and conclude."

Madaki, who also played for another Jos club Plateau United, arrived Kano Monday for the discussions.

He held talks with Enyimba before he went to CHAN 2016.

Pillars also want Danladi Gyang and skipper Charles Henlong from Giwa.

Somehow I feel Oliseh will pull this one off just fine...... #TheDoubleHeader against Egypt.

I don't know but Oliseh might just floor the Egyptians over the two legs. I don't even feel threatened by them.

Maybe it's just me...... #smiles

But Oliseh shouldn't allow those "vultures" distract him. And he should "watch it" also.

NFF = Vultures.

Oliseh has disgraced us individually and collectively by giving the NFF the chance to find faults in his attitude. Too bad.

I strongly feel the NFF has been vindicated by this act of Oliseh, should incase they do any thing to him.

Egypt winger Abdel-Shafi could miss Nigeria clash

Abdel-Shafi is a major doubt for Egypt's clash against Nigeria as he faces months on the sidelines

Egypt winger Mohamed Abdel-Shafi is doubtful for the crucial match against Nigeria late March due to injury.

The Pharaohs will host the Super Eagles in the 2017 Cup of Nations' qualifiers on one day between 26-29 March.

The former Zamalek star, who currently plays for Saudi heavyweights Ahli Jeddah, was substituted in Friday's league match against Al-Khaleej due to pains in his right knee.

"Abdel-Shafi needs a surgery in his knee as the medical staff's trials to cure his pains have failed," the Saudi club announced via a statement in its official website late on Monday.

"Doctors have yet to determine the rehabilitation period," the statement added amid reports that he could be out for the rest of the season.

In July 2015, the Saudi club announced the signing of Abdel-Shafi from Cairo giants Zamalek on a three-year deal for $2.8 million.

The 30-year-old, who has been one of Zamalek's most consistent performers since joining in 2008, spent the last season on loan at Ahli Jeddah.

He quickly established himself as a key player at the club and was acclaimed by Saudi media for a string of impressive displays.

Ahli Jeddah currently lies second at the Saudi league table with 35 points, two behind leaders Al-Hilal after playing 15 matches.

Egypt are bidding to reach the Nations Cup for the first time since winning the last of their record seven titles in 2010.

They are on top of Group G of the Nations Cup qualifiers with maximum six points from wins over Tanzania and Chad. Nigeria are second on four points.

Eduwo says Norwegian 'peanuts' not worth his time

Eduwo (Right(

One-time Flying Eagles invitee Kingsley Eduwo has turned down "peanuts" offered by Norwegian club Fredrikstad FK.

His representative, Lanre Famakinwa, told AfricanFootball.com the 18-year-old striker was offered a contract after an impressive 10-day trial during which he scored five goals in three games, but it was turned down because the money just was not worth it.

"Eduwo was offered a deal by Fredrikstad after a successful trial, but we turned it down because the money was not something to write home about,” Famakinwa said.

"Calculating his salary after tax, he will be left with less than what he earned in Nigeria, it made no sense to accept such offer.”

The striker born on June 19, 1996, scored a hat-trick in his first game and scored a brace in the second.

He has played for Gateway FC, Sunshine Stars and 3SC.

Moroccan club Olympic Club de Safi are interested in the striker and have subsequently sent him an invitation letter.

Emenike rejects deal to make him best paid African star

Emmanuel Emenike

It has been revealed that Nigeria striker Emmanuel Emenike turned down a bumper offer from China that would have made the best paid African player.

The 28-year-old Emenike is now on loan to English Premier League side West Ham from Turkish club Fenerbache.

But he could also have taken up an offer in China, which would have made him the best paid African player.

“The deal in China would have fetched him up to $8 million a year, all tax-free,” said a source close to the player.

“But he preferred to move on loan to the EPL instead.”

Another source hinted the striker could still head to China in June.

“He could still move to China in the summer. It all depends on how things go in England,” said the source.

Jamie Redknapp Blasts Emenike For Poor Showing Against Southampton

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp was unimpressed with the performance of Emmanuel Emenike on his debut for West Ham.

The Fenerbahce loanee took to the St. Mary’s Stadium pitch in the 73rd minute after only two training sessions with his new teammates and had an opportunity to restore parity but his header missed target.

“Their best chance came from Emenike, who was really poor when he came on. Everything he did just didn’t seem to come off,”said Jamie Redknapp.

Emenike could make his debut in the FA Cup tonight when the Hammers face Liverpool in a fourth-round replay at Upton Park.

Retired England international Redknapp represented Southampton in the second half of the 2004-2005 season.

Olympiakos Striker Brown Ideye Off To England

Greek champions Olympiakos permitted Brown Ideye to travel to England on Monday to attend to personal matters.

The players of the Reds were given a day off yesterday on the heels of their 1-0 victory over PAOK in the Super League on February 7.

Apart from being a Commonwealth citizen, Brown Ideye still has ties with England, having represented West Brom before shifting to Olympiakos last summer.

The former Dynamo Kiev and Sochaux star might not have impressed the Baggies faithful during his spell at The Hawthorns but he is enjoying a new lease of life at Olympiakos and there has been talk that a couple of Premier League teams are interested in him.

This season, Ideye has netted 10 goals (4 assists) for Olympiakos in all competitions.
