OP, you just missed it, have you ever heard of the Old Oyo Empire? The Iku baba Yeye, Alase ikeji Orisha, ALAFIN of Oyo Kingdom, Arole Oodua, Kabiyesi Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III. You list is of low regard without this powerful king on it. 2 Likes |

sweetgala:Blame poor education and lack of exposure on the part of the Alafin. Adesoji Aderemi dines with the who is who during the colonial era and he was made the Governor of Western Region. But Historically, Alafin is the head of all Obas in the whole of Yoruba Land. 2 Likes |

His Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III, J.P, CFR, LL.D The Alaafin of Oyo Empire, his imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, is undoubtedly a monarch not with only wit but also with class. To say he is an enigma by every standard is an understatement, as many who had an interaction with him testify that “a moment with him is like an exploratory adventure through the school of history”. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Adeyemi III, no doubt, one of Africa’s most powerful and most influential kings, has lived two decades and over half a century into decades of heeding the natural call of the gods and his people. http://www.alaafin-oyo.org/main/alaafin/biography 3 Likes

Folks need to understand it is not about the occupant of the throne but the throne itself so Alaafin comes last in the scheme of things as recognition begins from Olowu to Alaafin - even Owa Obokun Ijesa comes before Alaafin. What even makes a throne hold its sway is its sustenance of its actual geographical setting - Oyo lost this a long time ago. 1 Like |
