Nigerians are just too fast to conclude change has come as though this the first time a new govt is taking over power and making promising speeches.

They should rather hold the govt to their words, and urge them to deliver on their promises. It is so easy to slip off once in power, and so easy not to fulfil promises. That is exactly what happened under Jona after he successfully secured power.

Never uhuru yet.

It's really disheartening when one hears, on a daily basis, the tragic news that the dreadful Boko Haram militants have killed people again, however minimal! Without any iota of doubt, the spate of killings by this evil group of criminals has increased since the President was sworn in; a development one finds disappointing, given the fact that the President is a retired general. It was my expectation that the insurgents, which specialise in Guerrilla warfare, would have been dealt series of blows aimed at crushing them. I had expected the Commander-in-Chief to continue from where ex-president Jonathan stopped, as related to this insurgency issue. This brings to the fore again the problem of policy somersault truncating continued, maintained and sustained development, in our various sectors, carried out by successive administrations- both at the Federal and State levels of government.

To be candid, the slow pace in making policies and taking positive actions, aimed at solving the myriads of problems bedeviling the Nigerian populace, by the present administration is justifiable; this I believe is due to the gross mismanagement done by the past administration. However, this slow-and-steady approach by the Presidency should not be over-emphasized; there are some pressing issues that need urgent attention of the President- Boko Haram insurgency and corruption. It's common ground that corruption is a menace and a bane to economic growth and development in our dear country. Boko Haram insurgency, on the other hand, appears to be a predicament affecting only the Northern part of Nigeria. But in reality, this is not so; it affects all the regions in the country as a whole albeit indirectly.

Lastly, we must not allow ourselves to be unduly distracted by some happenings in the polity and pay less attention to important and urgent issues. We should lend our voices to a just cause; it is time the deadly attacks due to Boko Haram insurgency came to an end. We shouldn't see this problem as a Northern issue. If the sect is not dealt with now, once and for all, it could affect all the regions in the country and other dreadful sects could also spring up.

It's not about what Gej did or not. If Buhari was voted in cos we believe he's better than Gej for that seat, then why compare them? If people have been dying under Gej, does that mean people should die under Buhari ?
