Boko Haram Releases First Beheading Video... by kingbasil: 1:59am On Jul 11, 2015
By Jay Akbar For Mailonline 20:53 10 Jul 2015, updated 22:58 10 Jul 2015

The footage bears all the hallmarks of an Islamic State propaganda video Shows Boko Haram fighters battling Nigerian troops in unknown location.

Captured soldier is forced to kneel before he is shot dead and decapitated

Somali terror group Al-Shabaab's merger with Islamic State is 'imminent'

Boko Haram has set a terrifying new precedent by releasing its first gruesome video of a beheading since it pledged allegiance to ISIS.

The video adopts many of the same style-points as the hundreds of barbaric videos released by ISIS over the last year.

The 'west Africa' insignia in the top-left corner suggests the terror group has set up a new so-called media wing in the country.

It comes on the same day that MailOnline learned of a Somali terror group's intentions to join ISIS - which would extend its so-called caliphate to east-Africa.

Look of horror: A Nigerian soldier is made to kneel in front of three men after he was captured by Boko Haram

Murdered: The video then cuts to the man, who has been beheaded by the Islamic militants

The ten minute-long propaganda video begins with what appears to be an intense firefight against Nigerian soldiers.

Boko Haram fighters exchange machine gun fire with the troops and launch heavy mortar grenades on their locations.

It shows them standing proudly next to the corpses of scorched Nigerian troops - and showing off their security badges to the camera.

The video ends with the senseless murder of a captured African Union soldier. With a look of true horror on his face, the man kneels in front of three masked Boko Haram fanatics - two of whom point AK47s at his head.

The video then cuts to reveal his decapitated body lying motionless on the floor.

Islamic State accepted a pledge of allegiance from Boko Haram, who were responsible for the deaths of over 10,000 in Nigeria in 2014, in March this year.

The audio message entitled 'kill and be killed' - released through the militants' vast social media channels - was read by an ISIS spokesperson who also threatened further violence against the Christian and Jewish communities.

Boko Haram release first video since pledging allegiance to ISIS

Gloating: The video also shows the name tags of soldiers killed in the firefight between Boko Haram and army

Battle: The 10 minute video begins with a shoot out between the extremists and national forces

Mimic: This video is very like the ones Islamic State produce - even down to the logo in the corner

Speaking for his leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the man in the recording says: 'We announce to you to the good news of the expansion of the caliphate to West Africa.

'Our caliph has accepted the pledge of loyalty of our brothers of Boko Haram so we congratulate Muslims and our jihadi brothers in West Africa.'

The militants have been waging a six-year insurgency to impose strict Shariah law in Nigeria and earlier this year it launched attacks across the border on Cameroon - before striking Niger and Chad.

The group has killed thousands in bomb attacks and violent sieges on villages in the remote north-east, and are now feared to be spilling over into neighbouring Cameroon and Chad.

It inspired five African nations agreed to form a coalition to take the group on and 8,700 troops from Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Benin are expected to begin operations before the end of next month.

Only today, MailOnline learned that Somali terror group Al-Shabaab could soon scrap its allegiance to Al-Qaeda and pledge loyalty to rivals ISIS instead.

Islamic State invited the east-African jihadi group to join forces with them through a propaganda video released in March - urging it to wage jihad on neighbouring Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania.

Militants: Somali terror group Al-Shabaab (pictured) could scrap its allegiance to Al-Qaeda and pledge loyalty to rivals ISIS instead

Invitation: Islamic State urged the east-African jihadi group to join forces with them through a propaganda video (pictured) released in March

Territory: Al-Shabaab still controls some territory inside Somalia and has executed 150 attacks on the Somali military in June alone. It has also executed cross-border raids on the Kenyan towns of Hulugho and Mandera - where it slaughtered over 50 peacekeepers in a single attack

Now Al-Shabaab members and sources within the Somali army suggest the invitation will be accepted and the group - which commands around 9,000 fighters - will soon extend ISIS's self-proclaimed caliphate to east-Africa.

The decision comes at a time when many of Al-Shabaab's local and foreign leaders are being killed by commando raids and drone strikes, the group is rapidly losing territory and its money is running out as a result.

Security expert Ryan Cummings says that ISIS' desire to merge with Al-Shabaab is part of its international expansion plan.

'Al-Shabaab is the largest jihadi movement in East Africa, and central to the core mandate of ISIS is the unification of the Muslim world,' a counter-terrorism expert told CNN at the time.

Ryan Cummings added that a merger 'would be a significant ideological victory for the group [ISIS]. It would be massive from a public relations perspective, which is central to the Islamic State's operations.

'The Islamic State still wants to create the perception that it's growing and branching out to various parts of the world.

The only way that it will be able to achieve this will be to have groups serving as an extension in their various areas of operation.'

First, this Video is an old Video even it was published yesterday.

This actually happened when Goodluck Jonathan was the President, so people should stop calling Buhari's name. That said, Buhari is winning the war on Boko Haram, and soon those heartless criminals will be brought to Justice.

***modified***

The Western(foreign) Press and their paid agents, will do anything to Rubbish President Buhari's name by linking him or his Government to Boko Haram, just because he is a Muslim. We have seen all this before, PDP backed Western Propaganda. This Particular Video had been circulating since the middle of last Year, is it not mischievous that it is in July of 2015 that a UK Daily is carrying it again?and as if on MAGIC no Media house in Nigeria knows about it?this will not work.

President Buhari, came into the Office riding on a popular mandate. Some of those mandates includes, but not limited to (A) fighting Corruption(B) fighting not just Boko Haram, but any kind of insurgency including the Militants in the Creeks.

He has not been in office for two months, and so far he is doing a wonderful job, And so far has surpassed Clueless Jonathan in some fundamental angles i.e the fight against corruption and the fight against Boko Haram.

Nice one Mr. President.

We the PEOPLE of Nigeria SUPPORTS you.

blood of God, this animals again?

the guy above me is sick, infact, the guy is as useless as the "p" at the start of "psychology"

they said Jonathan have no clue on how to tackle boko haram, that buhari will wipe them out within six months, but the all motion and no movement president is soo senseless to even know what boko haram is.

the daura magician is still busy talking about nass, traveling to west Germany and competing with Kim kardasha and Tonto dike with taking pictures.

it is very easy to criticize from outside. according to buhari and his minions, "if terrorism last more than 48hours, the government knows about it" buhari and his people know about boko haram.

Like I said earlier

These terrorists don't deserve death. Death is too good for them. Their d!ck should be mangled, eyes removed with spoon, tongues cut off with cutlass, fingers chopped with axe and a 2:2 wood carved like a d!ck shoved in their poohole and if someone should tell me I have no love, same treated should be given to that person

[size=14pt]Exactly!!!

Let the dulllard keep believing in the old military tactics of banza charge to show valor.
What Nigerian military need is what Jonathan did. Provide an attack helicopter force that goes in ahead of the army to destroy all the Boko Haram heavy weapons and vehicles. Then the soldiers can charge and over run the dazed Boko haram force.

The dulllard keeps thinking the attack helicopter crew flown by experienced SA ex-pilots is useless against Boko Haram, so he disbanded it. The reversals of fortune has been acute and immediate since he disbanded the South African pilots helicopter crew, proving the helicopter crew was a vital component of victories against Boko haram. Buhari will know this when Boko Haram push our troops into Abuja.

Anyway, it is obvious Buhari wants Boko Haram to defeat our army to make his case for an amnesty program easy. So let them keep wasting the lives of innocent soldiers by not giving them aircover in battle, in order to play the amnesty politics that Boko Haram deserves "Amnesty" because they cannot be defeated by our army

Boko haram has upgraded and I'm certain some sympathizers (including those on NL, omenka and hungerbad) will still ask that boko haram be granted amnesty.

Absolute madness.

You cant win an ideological war with weapons alone.

I hate to admit it and I hope I'm wrong, but unless Nigeria becomes accustomed to the killings and having BH at their backdoor they will have to fold and submit to BH.

The US thought it could win but now it's paying off ISIS so in return they don't feature any more Americans in future internet beheading videos. Thats far from being considered a victory even from a determined military heavyweight like the US. Nigeria is not the US... It is possible for Nigeria to obliterate this BH problem but the myriad of other unwavering issues help fuel the fire, while the army's only a small bucket of water to this growing fire.

Buhari!

One of your campaign promises was to finish BokoHaram like you did to a similar group in the time past.
It seems something isn't adding up here.

Terrorist is not a group we would just face with AK47, else more than 47soldiers would fall. Aerial bombardment is the key.

GEJ was doing well towards the end of his administration but Nigerians believe more in your campaigns.
