Broda Naira never spoil reach that level na. That is still almost $5 because you will rarely see an exchanger sell to you at a rate more than N3**. Besides his rate is one still one of the best you can get on Nairaland. Just ignore if you cannot do it and leave it for others.

Hi fellow freelancers,

I think it is worthwhile to post some of the tips Danny sends to the students of his up work course here. Although the posts will be long but try to read through and learn one or two things that will improve your freelance business.

[b]Do you want to be able to charge higher rates on Upwork and actually get them?

Maybe even break into the exclusive and mysterious realm of
premium pricing? (Actually if you stick with me for a while,
you'll see it isn't all that mysterious.)
I hope you said yes. Because, A) it shows me you're sane,
and B) this hack is designed to help you do that.
I'll give you the skinny on how it works with a funny little
story...in a minute.

First, here's a quick preview of what you can expect from me
in the coming days.

Over the course of the next week or so, I'm going to ship
you my favorite hacks for making money on Upwork.
Some of these I figured out through trial and error, others
came from flashes of insight, and some of it was just
instinct.

Either way, the point is to help you accelerate your journey
to earning the kind of money freelancers deserve for all the
hard work we do.

I've chosen these 5 hacks carefully, because they're simple,
easy to implement, and can help you earn more money right
away.

Could be that not all of them will apply to you -- that's okay...
Even successfully executing 1 or 2 of them can have a
serious impact on your bottom line.

(Example: as you'll see, one of these hacks earned me over
$30k, and literally anyone can do it.)

For now, without further ado, let's get right down to Hack #1.
I'm going to tell you about the hack itself, as well as the
psychology behind it, so you can see how it really works.
Now, back to that funny story that explains it...

Just a smidge under 3 years ago, I was finishing up a project
for one of my clients, when suddenly, my human nature
kicked in.

(No, I don't mean that I needed a bathroom break. Where is
your mind at?)

What I mean is that I didn't want to just earn a full time living
on Upwork, I wanted to do better than that.

Clearly I needed to raise my rates in order to accomplish
that. But by how much?

Well, I'd heard there were plenty of "off-line copywriters" who could charge way more than us
"lowly online freelancers"...

So I did some research to see what these big dogs were
hauling in.

Turns out many of them were charging $1,000 for a single
page of web copy.

That's when my pesky human nature perked up even louder
than before.

I tried to bat it down with the "reality cry" of conventional
Upwork wisdom...the first commandment of which is "Thou
shalt not charge as much as offline freelancers!"
But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get that ($1k)
number out of my head.

What if I could actually pull it off?
If it worked, I could make significantly more money, without
putting in so much as an ounce more effort. When I thought
of it in those terms, that damn human nature of mine started
firing on all cylinders.

Finally, I couldn't resist the urge any longer.
What could I possibly lose by trying? (Little did I know the
answer was actually "a lot," as you'll see in a few segundos.)
So I decided to give it a shot.

I rolled up my sleeves, and carefully started writing proposals
for 1 page of web copy, just like the big boys. My price tag?
A cool $1k.

Waiting for the responses wasn't easy. Like watching a pot
of water try to boil. I wanted to jump out a window.
But just when I thought I was about to go barking mad...one
by one, they started trickling in, like little rain droplets landing
softly on a beautiful lily pad. (And then, I really wanted to
jump out the damn window............

The messages from the potential clients all read more or less
the same:
"Nice samples, but your price is too high."
"Your work looks good, but too much moolah."
"I'd like to hire you, but why you charge so dang much??"

To be continued....

You have no choice really. People do not award jobs on the basis of country of origin. They award jobs based on your skill set. Foreigners do not think like we do here (what is your tribe or state of origin? Are you an indigene or settler?).

This is coming from a Top Rated Upworker with more than $60,000 earned with my proudly Nigerian profile.

Let's face it, anyone who says it's the same thing is a bloody liar. When you are in upwork as a member of any of the following countries: US, UK, Australia and Canada, you will definitely find it a lot easier getting jobs that are based on Writing, research, editing, voice over, and proofreading

Most jobs are easier to get if you are opportune to live in any of the above countries. Upwork has found a way to discover people using false IP so it's best you stick to being Nigerian but don't let anyone tell you it's the same thing because it's not.

Most people on upwork award jobs based on country of origin(as well as skills) , anyone saying this is not true is only out to deceive you. As a Nigerian, try working twice as hard, apply for jobs and use all your connects, you will definitely be lucky soon.

Here are some of the tips from Danny Marguiles Course for you to succeed on Upwork:

Placing at least one testimonial right up top in your profile can really stack the deck in your favor. I've been using this for almost 3 years with great results.

Here are some tips on how to do it:

***It's best to use testimonials that come directly from your Upwork client reviews, since they'll have the most credibility. (If you don't have any Upwork reviews yet, then just use any testimonials you do have, regardless of where they're from.)

***Try to use multiple testimonials, since more social proof is generally better. (This is why toothpaste companies say things like, "4 out of 5 dentists recommend our brand."wink But if all you have is 1 or 2, you should still definitely use those.

***Ideally, you're looking for testimonials that specifically talk about things your ideal client is looking for. The more specific, the better. For example, let's say you write web content. A testimonial that says you helped your client rank better on Google is going to be much more effective than one that you "did a great job."

***Remember to put those suckers right at the top of your profile, to take maximum advantage of social proof and first impressions. Winning on Upwork is all about stacking the deck in your favor.

***(One last thing for those of you who are brand new to Upwork: Save this tip for after you set up your initial profile and have it reviewed and approved by Upwork. This makes it easier to get your profile approved.)

Bless you

A word they say it's enough for the wise..
How do you feel after making that first sale? The adrenaline rush, the happiness, the joy of being part of a family that makes their income freelancing and enjoying what they do best..

The adrenaline and the excitement certainly dies down and you focus more on getting more orders, you start working on your skills day in day out, labouring and dedicating precious time to learn the skills that would make sure you survive and stay alive in the arena of freelancing.

You've earn some stripes, fought some battles and yeah, it's time for your payday..
Only then do you realise it's a nightmare out there from people trying to scam you of your hard-earned money #Awon Oloshi angry # to people trying to rip you off #Werey peeps embarassed #
I was almost scammed of some funds if not for my street smartness and the help of a dear friend. Now imagined how you'd felt when you find out that you have just been ripped off by a scammer or a greedy exchanger (this one sef is even better to the former embarassed), my guy no be for here o grin grin

Withdrawing your money shouldn't be a case of being worked up and praying what happens in 1999 shouldn't happened again grin grin. Good day all.
I have been an avid reader of this thread since to inception. I have been able to get a US account and made good money from it. It was banned a few days ago. I have decided to start all over again using my nigerian account.
Are there any tips I can get to make a success of this new terrifying journey I am about to make?

I will be documenting my success here to encourage others as well.

Thanks to the contributors on this thread, your successes have made it possible for me to make a go at this and try to succeed.
