I will only agree with what you've written if and only if you can achieve 1/3 of what Ojukwu who you call a failure did achieve. Your entire generation can never do what Ojukwu did.
For your info he was the only one who was brave enough to face a whole country and give them a run for their money had it not been for the intervention of the British in the war, Nigeria would long be gone by now.

Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was an enigma. Ojukwu was the first son of one of the richest men in Africa. Ojukwu was well educated, attended the prestigious Oxford university. If Ojukwu had wanted, he could have chose not to fight, submitted himself to Gowon and Northern oligarchy just as everybody else did, or even accepted a plum position in Gowons Government. Or he could have just retired and enjoyed his fathers wealth. Instead, he chose to deny himself those things to fight for the freedom of his people. Nothing can be more noble. The only reason why people criticise Ojukwu is because he did not win the fight. It is not every fight that a man will able to win. Some of it, he will lose for no one is perfect. Nobody in Nigeria will ever have the backbone to do what Ojukwu did. Nobody will ever be able to challenge the Northerners like Ojukwu did. The day Ojukwu was buried, funerals for him we're going on in London,New York, Canada,Australia, Germany and so many others as people trooped out in their millions to celebrate the life of this man. Besides Nelson Mandela, there is no other African who has received the kind of 'global funeral' Ojukwu got and we not likely to see it again in our life time. Ojukwu was a great man, the fact that he did not win the war does not diminish this . I love him because he fought, not because he didn't win

The one good thing that happend is that Ojukwu was vindicated while he was still alive. Today, the same Nigeria that Ojukwu fought against is an even bigger shambles than it was the day Ojukwu declared Biafra

Never knew this zooland still has some people with brain.
For having spoken the truth, may you leave to see great things in your generation. May God almighty bless you abundantly.
You stole what I had in mind to comment.

Gowon, Awolowo, Ejoor, Adebayo, Mobolaji Johnson, Katsina, Wey and all the groups that supported and advised the Federal Government of Nigeria to renege on the accords agreed upon in Aburi, Ghana were responsible for the 1967-70 Civil War, alongside their murderous kinsmen who killed innocent Easterners in revenge for an act done by a misguided group of soldiers comprising both Southerners and Northerners.

Ojukwu tried making peace, and called for peace-talk in a neutral ground hence the Aburi Accord, but Gowon and his co-travellers violated the agreement reached. If Ojukwu wanted war he wouldn't have called for peace talk in Ghana but the declaration of Biafra was inevitable as the killing of Easterners continued across the country. Ojukwu never asked for war! Ojukwu only declared Biafra when over thirty thousand corpses littered the Northern region in the aftermath of the January 15 1966 coup. Gowon and his cohorts declared the civil war! And Benjamin Adekunle, one the Nigerian soldier, later attested to the fact that Nigeria declared war because of oil in the Eastern region and not for the unity of the country!

Why didn't the July 1966 counter-coup plotters just wipe out the Eastern political class and call it a day. Aguiyi Ironsi did nothing deserving death yet they killed him. Ironsi was too much of a peacemaker and he died making useless peace, appeasing the Northerners. The counter coup plotters simply wanted a war and they sure got one.
Bear in mind there was no war before the pogrom of 1966 started in the North.
So why resort to maiming and killing innocent Easterners cum civilians. Has the killings stopped till date? NO!

The February 13, 1976 Dimka-led coupists came from Benue and Plateau region. They assassinated Murtala Mohammed then Head of State, yet there was no genocide carried against the Middle-belt people. Why was same treatment not given to the ethnic groups of the Dimka-led coupists that committed same offence? It's simply hypocrisy!
It is even against the military rule to harm the innocent civilians during coup.

According to the warped logic of hypocrites any time there is a revolution or a coup the ethnic groups of the coup plotters should be singled out for ethnic cleansing!

What did other Nigerians and their leaders do when Igbos where being massacred across the North in 1966? Did any of them come to the aid of the people of Igbodo and Asaba in 1967 when genocide was being carried out on them by the same people who are now having nightmares to still have Igbos in same country with them?

Ethnomusicolist Charles Keil, who was visiting
Nigeria in 1966, recounted:

"The pogroms I witnessed in Makurdi, Nigeria
(late Sept. 1966) were foreshadowed by
months of intensive anti-Ibo and anti-
Eastern conversations among Tiv, Idoma,
Hausa and other Northerners resident in
Makurdi, and, fitting a pattern replicated in
city after city, the massacres were led by the
Nigerian army. Before, during and after the
slaughter, Col. Gowan could be heard over
the radio issuing 'guarantees of safety' to all
Easterners, all citizens of Nigeria, but the
intent of the soldiers, the only power that
counts in Nigeria now or then, was painfully
clear. After counting the disemboweled
bodies along the Makurdi road I was
escorted back to the city by soldiers who
apologized for the stench and explained
politely that they were doing me and the
world a great favor by eliminating Ibos.”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigerian_Civil_War

Anybody defending the atrocious acts of their forebears against the Igbo Nation is wicked to state the least. It's in vain trying hard to deny the genocide committed against the Igbos.

Ojukwu defended Igbos from ethnic cleansing no matter the attempts of hypocrites to cover up their evils.
Ojukwu will forever remain a legend amongst Igbos regardless of what the same people who were responsible for what Ojukwu stood against thinks.

If this people are sincere they would have restructured the system or have its inhabitants choose and chart their own destinies. Strange bedfellows are not meant to be together!

The real enemies of progress are the proponents of the status quo in the Nigerian system, and are accustomed to spreading lies and wicked propaganda.

Anyone who supports in the smallest ways the sustenance of a criminal system that has only brought shame, waste, killings and backwardness, should be charged with crimes against humanity.

It doesn't matter how long it takes, Igbos shall achieve their goals.

“The right to development is a fundamental right by virtue of which every human person and all peoples are entitled to participate in, contribute to and enjoy economic, social and cultural development.

“It is a right which includes the exercise of full sovereignty over national resources, self determination, popular participation in development and equality of opportunity."

“Karma comes after everyone eventually. You can't get away with screwing people over your whole life, I don't care who you are. What goes around comes around. That's how it works. Sooner or later the universe will serve you the revenge that you deserve.” - Jessica Brod

The zoo is very powerful.even when the lion shouts and threatened the zoo and its rangers were just watching.when he was caught what did he say.pls give me food I was hungry that was why I was shouting.my advice don't mess withe zoo.ojukwu had a different meaning to many some see him as a great leader, some a facade, some Coward, some a failure for a general while others he was a hero.to me I see him as all.simply because he failed to plan.indirectly caused the death of over 3 million people.

I think you are wrong. What killed 3 million people was Nigeria not Ojukwu. Nigeria murdered all those people. What Ojukwu did was declare Biafra. If this was unacceptable to the Nigerian Government, fine. But to use hunger as an instrument of war to starve millions to death in the name of one Nigeria was pure evil. "One Nigeria" was not worth starving children to death. What has food got to do with fighting a war? Another thing Which people may not know is that is that Ojukwu went on numerous peace meeting with Gowon or his representatives where Ojukwu told Gowon that he would call a halt to the war and ask Biafra to lay down it's arms if Gowon agreed to a UN monitored referendum of the eastern region( the videos of this are on YouTube). But Gowon said no, it must 'one Nigeria' and for this many people died. Has Nigeria become any better than with its 'one Nigeria' since then till now? No. Today, the same referendum is used in civilised countries. Even Britain that created Nigeria used the same referendum last year to resolve dispute with Scotland, nobody had to starve anyone to death. I also want to tell the many people who say "Ojukwu started a war" is to remember that Ojukwu, despite being senior to Gowon, went to Ghana to sign a peace agreement with Gowon in front of the president of Ghana. They shook hands, ate from the same plate, toasted each other with champagne and Ojukwu pledged to serve under Gowon as long as Gowon kept to the agreement. Gowon broke the agreement which forced Ojukwu to declare Biafra

Will you be happy if Ojukwu was taken to firing-squad and killed like a common criminal?

Will you be happy that he was arrested and bastardised in jail?

Do you know the insult that will be to the igbos if that happens?

Do you how you will be treated if Ojukwu had been caught before he left?

If you don't understand anything about war, the boss shouldn't be caught. It is better he runaway and come back to fight another day.

Read books and listen to news and see what they have done to leaders that were caught during war.

Stop lieing, you this fl@thead!
What got Nigeria angry with Ojukwu is the robbing of cbn banks in Ph and Benin, invasion of the midwestern, raping of the etsako women and so-on! Note that muritala's mum was an etsako woman!
And most importantly, invasion of Ore. That was the last straw for Awolowo!
Let me also remind you that food that were sent to the ibo civilians and refugee were hijacked by the biafrans after their money were made useless! What kind of leaders does that? Imagine, the war was more important than his people! That was exactly why the food sending was stopped!
The same Ojukwu refused to surrender to save his people rather, he hijacked their food and eventually ran away to Abidjan!
What a shameless hero!

It must mean that you do not know that the civil war actually started when the Nigerian Army started shelling the town of Garkem the moved on to Ogoja and later, Nsukka.I don't know if you are just talking because you a morron or if you're just ignorant. Nigerian bombs were raining down in Ogoja and parts of Nsukka when Ojukwu decided to invade Nigeria and try to capture Lagos. The war was between Nigeria and Biafra, there was no such thing as any neutral territory. Remarkably, you do not want to say anything about the Aburi agreement and who broke it. You can't because it would mean that you have to admit that Ojukwu was right to declare Biafra. B

Do you want to talk about rapes and killing the biafran soldier's committed. I have always believe in diplomatic solutions to issues, but asking just a part to have a referendum on separation is not always the best. Mister, stop being unnecessary mischievous by explaining away the great atrocious deeds of your forbears against Igbos.

And for the records feel free to provide those credible evidences of Biafran crimes against humanity here and now.

How dare you state that Yorubas kept all the properties belonging to Igbos during the civil war? Who owns the WAEC building in Yaba, Lagos?

How do you explain Yoruba's cowardice and treachery that a prominent figure, Adekunle Fajuyi, was murdered in Yoruba land during the counter-coup of July 1966 and Yorubas still deem it wise to collude with same Northerners to commit genocide on Igbos for dare seeking to have their own country?

Nzeogwu, the January 1966 coup leader was a Niger-deltan from Delta-Igbo. And the other ring members are Kpera (Northerner), Ademoyega (Westerner) and Anuforo (Easterner).

There's absolutely nothing wrong in seeking self-determination. You don't expect everyone to be so deluded as to continue feigning ignorance of the great evils and injustices in the land.

Those who leave the substance to chase shadows are as culpable as those who have caused the sacrifice of millions of lives for the sake of false 'One Nigeria'. Channel your energy towards stopping the evils in the polity and the wanton killings of innocent people for no just cause. Strange bedfellows of irreconcilable value systems cannot continue to be together.

You are free to pledge your allegiance to OduaArewanistan. It's a free world of choice wherein you have freedom of association. You don't expect every other person to tag along with you.

Igbos have been far from political power and yet have achieved unrivaled success for themselves, but disgruntled and bile-filled fellows still have the guts to castigate Igbos for the unavoidable, impending doom at their doorsteps.

N.B: The essence of this information is mainly to expose the lies of the notorious history distortionists and wicked propagandists who insult and malign others continually with lies and falsehood, and shout and make much noise on every available media. This a tribe that is after all well known for being loose cannons. Uncouth, uncivilised and disrespectful set of people who made a career out of abuse and slurs.
The same treacheerous beings who precipitated the January 1966 coup and the 1967-70 civil war with their bloody 'Operation Wetie ' in the SW. They start trouble and heat up the polity only to run cowardly to hide in their evil Soka forest when the jungle matures.

Disciple of hate and propaganda, here are the members of Yoruba tribe that participated in the January 1966 coup:
(See Ben Gbulie: ‘Nigeria’s Five Majors.’).

*Adewale Ademoyega is the most prominent Yoruba participant in the coup, there were other Yoruba officers who were involved at the dangerous execution stage of the coup. One of them is:

*Second Lieutenant Olafimihan, an officer serving under Madiebo in Kaduna. He was sent by the plotters to gauge his commander’s loyalty. (See Madiebo pp.17-18).

*Another is Lieutenant (some books refer to him as a Captain) Fola Oyewole. He, like Ademoyega, went on to fight for Biafra and wrote a book on his coup and wartime experiences. The book’s title is ‘Reluctant Rebel.’

*There is also Captain Ganiyu Adeleke who became an instructor in the Biafran Infantry School. For confirmation, see the list of coup plotters detained by Ironsi’s regime in Ademoyega pp.106-108, and this quote from Nowa Omoigui’s online account: ‘Mid-Western Invasion of 1967’: ‘Captain Ganiyu Adeleke, who had taken part in both the January 15 coup and the Mid-Western invasion before becoming an instructor in the Biafran School of Infantry was released at a later date after his co-plotters had been freed.’ Omoigui’s work is significant because, though he exhibits a high level of professionalism in his research, he has no sympathy for the January 15 coup. If his facts corroborate Ademoyega’s they are worthy of attention.

Ojukwu defended Igbos from ethnic cleansing no matter the attempts of hypocrites to cover up their evils.
Ojukwu will forever remain a legend amongst Igbos regardless of what the same people who were responsible for what Ojukwu stood against thinks.

In spite of the great wealth and affluence at his disposal (courtesy of the father who was one of the top richest in Africa at then) Odumegwu Ojukwu lived fighting for the liberation of his people. A greedy man cannot risk his wealth or life for the emancipation of his people. Benjamin Adekunle a.k.a the Black Scorpion, who fought for Nigeria, confessed, "we fought for oil and not for unity". Gowon, Awolowo and their co-travellers murdered millions of Igbo civilians because of crude oil in the Eastern region.

What did other Nigerians and their leaders do when Igbos where being massacred across the North in 1966 before the civil war?
Did any of these Igbo accusers come to the aid of the people of Igbodo and Asaba in 1967 when genocide was being carried out on them by the same people?

You are simply bitter and angry about Biafra, and now you're having terrible nightmares and still bent on having Igbos be in same country with murderers and their collaborators.

Anybody defending the atrocious acts of their forebears against the Igbo Nation is wicked to state the least. It's in vain trying hard to deny the genocide committed against the Igbos.

Ethnomusicolist Charles Keil, who was visiting
Nigeria in 1966, recounted:

"The pogroms I witnessed in Makurdi, Nigeria
(late Sept. 1966) were foreshadowed by
months of intensive anti-Ibo and anti-
Eastern conversations among Tiv, Idoma,
Hausa and other Northerners resident in
Makurdi, and, fitting a pattern replicated in
city after city, the massacres were led by the
Nigerian army. Before, during and after the
slaughter, Col. Gowan could be heard over
the radio issuing 'guarantees of safety' to all
Easterners, all citizens of Nigeria, but the
intent of the soldiers, the only power that
counts in Nigeria now or then, was painfully
clear. After counting the disemboweled
bodies along the Makurdi road I was
escorted back to the city by soldiers who
apologized for the stench and explained
politely that they were doing me and the
world a great favor by eliminating Ibos.”

Why Awolowo committed suicide: The sordid details of the betrayal of Awolowo

Only a few are privy to this fact that Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the erstwhile Premier of Western Nigeria, committed suicide. Awolowo, renowned for bringing tribal politics into the geographic space known as Nigeria, committed the heinous crime after he was secretly indicted by former Nigerian military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, for plotting to overthrow his regime.

Below is a complete dossier on the events that led to his ignominious exit.

THE BEGINNING - MAKING OF AWO WHO WOULD DIE IN SHAME:-

Many years after he suddenly was reported dead of natural cause and few years after his golden jubilee, facts are now emerging on the reasons that led to First and Second Republic political heavyweight, Late Chief Obafemi Awolowo committing suicide.

It was learned that he did it to stem the tide of a possible military court martial into an insurrection he was planning to lead alongside his political associates at the time when it became evident that then Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida was intending staying in power forever.

CONFESSIONS FROM AWO's ASSOCIATE:

In a no-hold barred interview with FS Online recentl, a grass root politician ,Mr Adebayo Adeyinka who lives within the College Road at Ifako-Ijaiye axis in Ogba ,a suburb of Lagos, Nigeria was livid with rage when he learned that a key politician connected to the issue was denying the incident.

He revealed that Chief Awolowo wanted to lead some kind of guerilla warfare or militant campaign against the government of President Babangida so that he can be overthrown through a popular or people -led putsch.

According to him , the Elder Statesman summoned a meeting of his core loyalists over the issue and this was even filmed so as to strengthen the extent of commitment of each of the politician that attended the meeting,

He pointed out that however unknown to all of those who were privy to this meeting and clarion call , Chief Lateef Kayode Jakande ,Former Executive Governor of Lagos State had a different plan as he betrayed them to the military.

THE BETRAYAL OF Awolowo WHO BETRAYED BIAFRANS BY Lateef Jakande.

He Said:’ But unknown to them , Chief Jakande was planning to betray them, he went to President Ibrahim Babangida and promptly showed him the tape

“Papa Awolowo was invited for a meeting with President Ibrahim Babangida who was then staying at Dodan Barracks which was the seat of power as at then and the truth of his clandestine meetings was revealed to him by the gap –toothed

IBB’s OPTIONs TO AWOLOWO AND HE CHOOSING THE N20 RAT POISON SHAMEFUL OPTION:-

“He gave Papa some options and that was for him to be ready to face a court martial , be ready to go to a prison or better still go on exile

“At this stage Papa felt instead of allowing some ambitious khaki boy to mess him up he should just pack it in and call it a day ,so Chief Awolowo decide to commit suicide so as to save himself from the ignominy of going to prison for the second time in his lifetime.

“But before he did this he called his core loyalists for a meeting ,before then he had called up Late Chief Bola Ige [Cicero],since the latter had a very strong understanding of the Hausa Language having had his formative years as a young man in Kaduna but discovered that the late Esa-Oke strongman was innocent after he was interrogated by Papa

“He called others for enquiries while asking them to tender the video cassettes of the meeting they all attended to discuss the plans to topple President Babangida for examination ,at this juncture Chief Jakande developed a cold feet as he could not produce his own copy of the video which was freely distributed to all that was present at the meeting previously before the betrayal and that was how the cat was let out of the bag.

“So he cursed him at this point and pointed out that he will never have any form of relevance politically as far as Nigeria was concerned and till today members of the Awolowo Dynasty avoids him like a plague.

“I was there when the letter he wrote to the family to beg them for forgiveness over the unfortunate incident was read in the presence of all present ,if he continues to deny I am ready to confront him publicly again on the same issue as I can even remember that elders asked him to go to the grave of the late sage to plead for forgiveness.

“When he was questioned he lied that the National Security Organization now State Security Services had visited his house to check on him and in the process took the tape in question but” Awoists” knew that this was a very weak argument as he did not inform their political group of this development before their enquiry on the subject.

“That was how Senator Abraham Adesanya assumed the leadership of the Awolowo camp of Yoruba politics after the demise of the man ,he was not even so close to Awolowo during his lifetime like Chief Jakande and that was why many called him Baba Kekere on account of this cosy relationship

IRONY OF AWO PAYING BIAFRANS 20 POUNDS AND DIEING COURTESY OF 20 NAIRA RAT POISON:-
“Before he gave up the ghost, he said his prayers and then took the poison which killed him almost immediately but the public was not fully aware as they were given a different account of what happened.

“We were simply told that he died while he was brushing his teeth in his bathroom at his Park Lane,Apapa residence here in Lagos

EXPOSING HOW MUCH THIEF AWOLOWO STOLE FROM BIAFRANS AND ni.GERia

(1) He was stupendously wealthy during his lifetime, infact there is NO company at Oba Akran in Ikeja ,Lagos where he does not have at least a five percent equity, Dideolu Court in Ogba alone cannot be valued at less than N10 Billion ,that was the place that he had in mind to be his Seat of power if he was elected as Nigeria’s President.

(2) He owned Shonibare Estate but the man he was using as a front and who later went to prison over some issues which Awolowo himself was privy to eventually laid claim to the estate.

“He got all of this wealth due to a great measure of goodwill and tax waivers he gave to investors whenever they come to establish their business.

(3) Anytime you buy a bottle of Coca-Cola you are enriching the Awolowo Dynasty,

(4) Go to Ijebu Ikenne and you will discover that the price of bag cement there is different from other parts of the nation due to the subsidy that the citizens enjoy on account of Awolowo who was their son and I hope you know that West African Portland Cement is in Ewekoro and not Ikenne.

(5) He listed such blue chips like Dunlop Nigeria Plc,

(i) Guinness Nigeria Plc.

(ii) Neimeth Pharmaceutical Nigeria Plc.

(iii) May and Baker Nigeria Plc.

The one good thing that happend is that Ojukwu was vindicated while he was still alive. Today, the same Nigeria that Ojukwu fought against is an even bigger shambles than it was the day Ojukwu declared Biafra

My Only Problem with Ojukwu is that He RAN AWAY, WHY DID HE RUN AWAY? sad sad angry angry

You can not lead People to war only to RUN AWAY during the Battle, what do you expect the people you lead to war to do? by so doing, you have single handed defeated yourself by yourself.

He shouldn't have Ran Away, I believe if He has stayed until the end, BIAFRA WOULD HAVE WON.

Reading all this comments in 2017 only shows how divided Nigeria and Nigerians are. Nigeria and Nigerians don dey FALL/FAIL since the beginning because we no dey UNITED instead we are Divided, thus we Fall.

In a Divided State, even the Truth is not welcomed, as it will only lead to more Division.

DEVIDED........WE FALL, WE FAIL, WE LOSE.
