My kid will know better than to ask for such, him dey mad?angry

When some people don't have food to eat, he should work and use his own money to buy it, since he doesn't have sense.

No I will not..
I will let the child know that I have the money and there is a difference between needs and wants
and also assets and liability..
Then he/she will understand why I wont buy it..

It would look like you hate him/her

You know how children are

I wouldn't care much though..
If I give him 1.6M for phone at 14, then at 16 I should be willing to give him 3M wrist watch since the money I spend on him should reflect on how much I love him...

Imagine what he will want for 18 bday.. A house of his own in his choice environment.
Let the money flow from now till eternity I will not..

While on a visit to a premium Apple store in Dubia, your 13 year old child asks for a 24 karat gold Iphone 6 ($8000) for his/her 14th year birthday

As a parent, would you get it for him/her?

Dose the fact that you are wealthy enough encourage you to buy such?

Yes?

Why?

No?

If i can afford it -why not?

It shouldn't be about your child "being too young to use the device"... You should be more concerned on the kind of information they would be exposed to; probably while using the device to surf the internet. And as a parent, it is my duty to ensure that they are using the said device for the right purpose (information wise - academically)

Same phone made of plastic/steel can serve the purpose!

OP, getting stuffs for children including teenagers should not only be based on affordability. Need and necessity for children's request should guide the parents' actions at all time.

There are many things I have declined my wards even though I could afford them. Sometimes they need to be made to understand that not all our wishes are even granted by God even though he is in a position to grant them all.
So, I don't think I will buy this ridiculously expensive phone for him even if I could afford it. It's vanity!

You want a gold Iphone 6? Fine. Get a job and make the money required to buy it, if you make that money and choose to spend it on Iphone 6 fine. But I refuse to dash a kid an item that can feed an orphanage
