Even though I strongly believe that this rubbish news is just vanguard making to sell their paper, how can in the whole story no any name of any senator mentioned. 95% of the senators from the North are in the Senate because of buhari's popularity and we will not hesitate to slam the harmer of recall to any senator that joke with PMB.if the born any senator well let him raise the issue of appearance of PMB for screening tomorrow. We are watching hope to get any with ball 2 Likes |

What is wrong with all these dudes saying that BOO BOO is above screening?...i pity the mentality of some Nigerians...A PRESIDENT SHOULD OVERSEE HIS OWN PORTFOLIO AND PUT WATCH DOGS ON OTHER PORTFOLIOS WITHIN HIS CABINETS....I wonder how he can handle a president job under a country fighting so many problems and also take over a hectic job like petroluem minister |

dougivilla:Buhari is NOT a minister! He is only taking charge of a particular sector. You can't be a minister and president at the same time. The ministers are his appointtees that the law allows to ASSIST him. Mind you, appointing ministers isn't mandatory but we can't over-estimate its importance. So if Buhari decide to take-charge of a sector, it is his prerogative. Beside, All ministers are working on behalf of the President and NOT on their own mandate. The mandate belongs to the President! |

galadima77: It's a pity you never learnt govt. In school.there is a constitutional provision for these.we elected him as president not a minister.ObJ did rubbish and the then senate was his play stool.the game has changed so we see a more robust senate.the best ever for now. |

TonyeBarcanista: This is why this is so fascinating: the Constitution does not explicitly deal with the case where the President and a Minister position are the same person, so resolving this ambiguity should be interesting. - I'm sure the President can handle a portfolio without declaring a minister to handle it. - Of course, without a minister being appointed, then there's nobody to screen. - However, if he does appoint, Senate can screen. - Can he, after self-appointment, be subject to Congress oversight and be summoned, like other ministers can? 1 Like |

They may say Jonathan was a one time president and Minister of Power. Good and fine. That was when CHANGE hadn't come so let one use it as a basis. He should go for screening. |

Ernieman: It is you that is dabbling into what you don't know. Have you ever heard the list of ministers forwarded by any president containing their portfolio? The senate does not screen for specific position because nobody except the president knows where he wants to assign the nominees. After confirmation by the senate, they will be sworn in by president after which the president will direct the secretary to the government to issue them their appointment letters containing their respective ministry of postings. That is when the public and the senators will know who is for which ministry. He can assign, reassign or remove them just because they eye his wife wrongfully. 1 Like |

Ikiriye:The president was elected to manage the WHOLE affairs of Nigeria. Ministers were provided to assist him. Rememeber that the constitution said the president 'MAY' appoint ministers to assist him and Not MUST! If he decide to take charge of a sector, it is his prerogative. Buhari is NOT a minister, he's the President! 1 Like |

PublicAssurance: Yes he is no where near qualification for that position. There is a big difference between politically CONTESTED position and political APPOINTMENTS. The former, if you have the MIND(rugged nature) Nigerian politics today requires, certainly you will make it. The later requires technical knowhow and expertise. Does Buhari have WASC not to talk of any qualification/certification in oil sector management. Buhari please lead us not into anarchy. I pray that what happened in 1985 will not happen faster than we expect it. Blockhead Northern president. 1 Like |

Ikiriye:go get your facts right. A minister is part of the executive. It is when the president want to delegate duty that he sends the name of the delegate (minister) to the house. If he chooses not to delegate the duty of the petroleum ministry, nothing will happen |

Ernieman:perhaps you are ignorant of history. during obasanjo s regime when he was the Minister for petroleum for 8years was there any fuss raised about that. When you elect the chief executive into office in a free and fair election , that in itself is an assertion of confidence. besides, the chief executive in our system of governance is the supervising minister for all the ministries, so therefore, you can't disqualify him on any ground in respect to any issue of governance. You can only summon him to clear the air on Issues or perhaps set the records straight. The power the house has on the president is to impeach him. so if you are ignorant I hope this helps you out. |

Ru Lionhearted: The constitution states otherwise. It states that all nominees must be screened by the senate. If buhari fails to appear and go ahead to be petroleum minister, then he has contravened the constitution and as such can be impeached and removed from office. Trust me if it comes to that, Saraki will joyfully remove him. |
