i called o.
....could barely hear what the lady was saying sha with the plenty american accent but she basically said they can't confirm that.

same for lufthansa...(the travel agent claims i would need one where the layover is over 4hrs - frankfurt)

i don taya.

For Lufthansa You might need a transit visa. That's the only airline I fly with to the US and My transit visa is always checked. My wait time is normally 4hrs+ at frankfurt. I don't know the procedure now sha,and I am flying with them next month and my dad is even goading me to renew my transit visa. Just let me know if you used Lufthansa and if your transit visa was checked.

Ehennn, I have been an ardent follower of this thread. So, this morning I had my interview for my visit visa at the Lagos consulate. Today was a feast of blue paper, I barely saw a white paper. My transcript is as below:

Vo: Good morning
Me: good morning
Vo: pass me your passport
me: passes my old and new passports (she collected only the new one)
Vo: where are you going in US
Me: New York city
Vo: why are you going to New York city?
Me: for vacation, my annual leave is in July and I plan to spend that time vacationing in New York, and would love to visit some interesting tourist attraction sites there like the statue of liberty, museums, central park and other sites
Vo: Have you travelled to other countries
Me: yes, Australia, New Zealand, India, Ghana and Benin Republic (I told her mission in these countries, she picked the old passport and flipped through the pages)
Vo: What do you do?
Me: I am a medical doctor (I told her my area of specialisation)
Vo: what type of ailment do you treat?
Me: told her the common illnesses encountered in my practice
Vo: where do you work?
Me: I work with bla bla bla
Vo: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Do you have children?
Me: No
Vo: Do you have relatives in New York?
Me: No, I do not have relatives in New York (In my Ds 160 form, I had filled that I have a relative in Georgia but I did not tell her this since she specifically asked about New York)
Vo: I'm sorry, you do not qualify for this visa at this time (passes back my passports with blue paper)
me: thank you.

That was it, I went back home to mourn the loss of my hard-earned 54,500 naira.

Let me include my other profile which she did not ask for during the interview
Gender: female
Duration of work: 9 years
salary: bla bla bla.

Also, this is my second rejection, the first was in 2012. AntyLydia iyaf suffered angry angry angry

For the appointment she can change it; let her login to your appointment profile she will put the correct DS160 no and update. Then print again. Did that and it worked for us.

Thanks

Good Day Gurus in the House.

I made a mistake wen filling wify's ds160 form with her month of birth and duration of stay. i was able to retrieve the application and corrected d mistakes. Now, she has to confirmation doc (the wrong month & correct)

Am aware she's to go with the 2 (wrong & corrcect) confirmation BUT her appointment letter is carrying the wrong confirmation no.

Are we to send a mail ahead to d embassy notifying them or what. Biko, Interview is on Thursday

Pls help with possible solution

No. She is not to go with both. She is to go with ONLY the correct one
The appointment MUST also TALLY with the ds. 160 or she will be sent back.
Check the ist page of this thread for the solution.tired of repeating it.

This is not a big problem and it is something we deal with almost everyday.. fill another form and send the embassy a mail through the feedback option in your appointment profile.. they will respond to you in less than 24hrs.

You should have said not in New York but in Georgia or wherever the person is.
It wont hurt a bit telling the VO thats.

I hop it didnt seem like a mis-reperesentation.

Just my take

There is a STOP on issuance of such visa for now, don't believe what you see here as transcripts
They are handiwork of travel AGENTS, they don't want people to know about this not to get out of job.
Maybe you are one of them.
Please Observe The Following Rules:
8. Don't post false information on Nairaland.
That you got denied a visa, does not mean there is a STOP on issuance. This is a DIY thread to guide prospective visit visa applicants, how could i be a travel agent. Please take your bile elsewhere and don't derail the thread.

I see travel AGENTS coming after me with machetes and axes.

How intelligent are you to even think all of us here on this thread are Travel Agents?

You are clearly one of those people that wouldn't take advice or opinion. Just shift abeg.

About HelenaEdwin post, I totally agree with you.

One of the reasons IMO why a lot of people get denied visa is because they lack the confidence to communicate effectively their mission to the US.

I'd share my experience.

I went for my interview late last year. While waiting in line to be interviewed, a fair young lady with her mom where being interviewed, I think they were going on vacation. The young lady (in her late twenties) was clearly nervous and she let that get the better of her. The VO asked her what her responsibilities were at the bank she claims she works and she was just mumbling some unintelligent things, even the mom was disgusted.

There's a way you can tell me that you wash plate for a living and I'd believe and respect for it, and there's a way you'd tell me you are the CEO of a multinational firm and I'g give you the "try again" look.

If you're reading this and your interview is coming up, just go and be great. Look confident and speak confidently.

I think it was "ties to country of residence" that she considered and made her rejected you. Every other thing looks good to me. I will suggest you re-try when you're married.
