Shiites find trouble and saw trouble. According to Albert Einstein's law of sowing and reaping, "If you find trouble, you go see trouble."

I think the presidency is in support of the army's violent style of reaction to citizens. As painful as it may sound, in a democratic regime, there are civil ways of quelling violent protest no matter who is caught in d crossfire. It seems this administration hasnt come to terms that in civilian regime, u dont use war firearms on civilian protesters even if they turn violent unless u must hav declared a curfew or state of emergency.
Where is Falana when Shi'ite are making life difficult for people in the north with their activities? They block major roads and even high way, they threaten motorist passing by peacefully and they disrespect the law, thinking they are above the law. They threat law abiding citizens thinking they have monopoly of violence.

Femi Adesina waved the matter aside when asked to comment on the massacre claiming it to be " an army affair".

The President is yet to speak on this and every signal points that the Soldiers acted on orders from above.

Flashback to 2014, the Shiites were holding their annual procession and approached a military checkpoint to which they were ordered to disperse but they refused. The men at the checkpoint had no choice but to use deadly force to disperse the group killing 30 of its members. The matter died there and there was no more attack on the group and their place of worship.

In this case according to human right watch groups the army went in a 3 day mop up operation attacking and destroying the Shiites, their homes and places of worship.

Thank God this incident did not happen under GEJ, this country would have boiled
Thank God the COAS is not a Christian, this nation would have boiled
Thank God the COAS and his boss are both Muslims, this nation has not boiled

Calling for the prosecution of the COAS is not to indict him but to establish the truth and justice in this matter
As it is, no one is guilty of any offence until proven otherwise

I think Buhari did the right thing in setting up an investigative committee to examine what happened. We've heard different versions. The COAS claimed he was a target for assassination and then authorised the release of a video showing young men with sticks who just blocked the road. I wonder how blocking a road translates to an assassination attempt. This COAS should be removed and then given a military trial as a deterrent to other soldiers. 300 lives just wasted because a big man wanted to pass the road. Very ridiculous and only happens in third world countries.

This was how that monster called Boko Haram started when their leader was killed in while in detention. Shiite member up north are within 10-15 million members. These guy shouldn't be pushed to the wall. Falana should just do d needful and stop making noise. He ASAP file this matter in ICC so that Hague can issue a red flag on COAS and whoever is involved in this extra judicial killing. This impunity must stop.

A little reasonableness on the part of those Muslims would have prevented this.

Similar thing happened under gej as well. Three o mans children were murdered in 2013. Even Abacha regim attached the man. Only God knows wht is offences are are that warrant killing his people.if those who had been cought in the ace of terrorism were not summarilly executed, I think the man is unfairly treated.

How can you even imagine that. Have you even seen the convoy of the COAS? There is no way IMN can have the capacity to initiate such attempt. This strictly a human rights violation.

Re: Falana Calls For Buratai's Arrest by pedestal82(m): 11:39am On Dec 25, 2015
The initial incident is not the problem, they blocked the road and prevented the COAS from passing, they reacted and killed a number of the attackers. U could justify that actions. But what the army did the next day was uncalled for. Going to the sheiks house and killing unarmed civilians is barbaric. Arrested him and keeping him in custody for over a week without trial thats not democracy.

Reading the comments on the first page, I just can't but feel sorry for the products of our educational system. Even if the DETAINED persons actually killed the General, they still have their rights until they have been sentenced.

It is that simple.

There is no justification for the execution and arson perpetrated at the Sheik's home. We may understand the "clash" by the roadside but that raid was just wanton killing.

But truly this matter needs to be heard by a competent court and not swept under the rug. Else we are just encouraging impunity.
No one was killed in the initial confrontation of the Shiite and the army. There is no just reason for the massacre on subsequent day(s). What is the justification? Is it just the wrong of not allowing the COAS pass with his convoy that hundreds must be killed in such manner?

I totally disagree with Femi Falana on this.
let the various investigation panels submit their report on findings first.
it is the same people that will condemn the government for not acting swiftly to contain the nefarious acts of the sect if action were not taken on time. That was how boko haram started from a small compound in a sleeping town of Maiduguri. Today we keep blaming Jonathan for,not acting swiftly until the sects spread all over the North East.

let us look beyond the incident. What exactly was the intent of the sects that blocked the way of the army who we understand has to resort to self defense. I just felt bad about the innocent souls that have been killed or properties destroyed.

once again lets wait for the outcome,if,the investigating panels set up

i just pray this kinda calamity do not befall you or anyone you know but when it does befall you may the judge justify the case the way you just did this one...ye ye zombie

Did Femi falana watch the tape as to the means by the army to resolve the situation peacefully and the rebuff by the shiite people
Z

Which tape. That doctored piece. Why did they cut it and to play it again with smokes and dead bodies. They were only playing to the gallery in that tape. They had other choices. Condone off the area and disperse them. Although some say it's better to take lives than be reasonable. But who am I to speak on this issue.

you are directing your questions to the wrong person. Mr Femi was only trying to tell the government the truth and not just trying to defend the shiites. It is d duty of the police to arrest those groups who were blocking the road and threatening ppl in the north. If we say we want to be like a democratic nation, we must be ready to bear d consequences that follows it. When there were violent protests by the black Americans in US over the death of a black American this year, did u hear that d police shot at them cos they refused to leave the streets. let stop playing politics and sentiment wit evrytng and say d truth unless u dont know the truth.
