Culture defines us and should be respected. however, culture must evolve, if indeed it it's centred around people it must respect and value the sanctity of life.
These festivals that could involve extra judicial killing are not uncommon, what beats my imagination is that they exist in city centres such as Epe, Ikorodu etc. We need to condemn this evil culture before it condemns us to the dark ages.

I am currently staying around badagry in Lagos State and we've been terrorized by a group of cultists who call themselves 'One Million Boys' They rob, amputate and perform other atrocious acts like making father rape daughter and son sleeping with mother and ever since the police have been unable to do anything.

The Oro people have been able to keep them at bay, in this case they are used as security since the system has failed.

Actually, it doesn't bother me that much but one has to be disciplined. I have since moved on and developed my own spirituality to the level I'm comfortable with, and it has paid off big time. My g granny was one and the whole town was one, she built a house on igbo o** land, and people thought she was not going to live there but not only did she live there, she would point and say " you see that man going, he's the only one alive among those who said I couldn't build a house here". She passed comfortably at the age of 9*. She was just amazing.
