Dieziani Alison Madueke appeared in a UK police station recently to keep up with the terms of her bail and she was further granted bail to appear again in the middle of the year.
The gravity of the offense she was alleged to have committed and is being investigated for not withstanding.

The UK authorities simply respect her rights and presume her innocent and is allowed to go home as the experts sort through evidence to link her to any wrong doing. She will appear in court at the appropriate time and given the chance to defend herself.

No one in UK is branding her a thief because the matter is still not decided by the court.

In the case of Metuh, he was arrested amidst a display of drama, detained for weeks without being charged and forced to give up money he was alleged to have stolen or he won't smell freedom.

Top politicians and half baked citizens took to social media to label him a thief even before he was charged to court.

When will Nigerians let go of sentiments and come to term with the reality that there's a big difference in being "guilty" and being "convicted"
The difference between a civilized country and a backward country was clear in this case.

While one was invited to clear issues out with the authorities, and probably given a cup of tea and donuts in the process, her counterpart in Nigeria is seen as a condemned criminal awaiting execution and so deserves all the inhumane treatment.

Only in in a THIRD world country like Nigeria that a court order will be fragrantly disobeyed and the president go on air to justify the disobedience and yet enjoys the support and appraisal of some compromised elements.

We will forever remain a backward nation if we continue to twist the constitution like self-seeking pastors that twist the bible to justify the continued extortion of congregations.

Fighting corruption is a golden course that should be applauded by any well-meaning individual BUT SHOULD BE STRICTLY WITHIN THE AMBIT OF LAW.
