What are you celebrating? There is no list of states requesting fresh bailout in the report. The list of states up there was from the last bailout which includes every other SE state (even though the incomplete list left out Enugu) except Anambra.
even Benue state is conspicuously missing from the states that benefited from the bailout and should be crying for more like Oliver twist.

with 13% percent oil derivation the revenue allocation of rivers is more than the allocation of the western states apart from Lagos, still states like bayelsa with the smallest no of LG is complaining of shortage of funds, while governors are borrowing heavily to run their states they are busy here shouting most states are in debt but because they are paying their workers salaries keep reasoning like chickens, some states in d east can only boost of few industries, people are only running their mouth like parrots.

Akuko! I hate Hypocrites like you. You all feasted on this thread to run down the SW while sparing your reginon, until I came to even the scores. Save your sermonette for next sunday service coz I ain't buying your bullshty. It stinks to high heaven.

Nothing like hypocrisy for here abeg. petersje8 is telling you the truth and u have to accept the bitter truth. Am a Yoruba like u and wouldn't support someone like Aregbesola who has made Osun state a laughing stock. 4 south west states and 3 south east states are all among the states that require for bailout, there shouldn't be need to chest beating here

This is kicking the can down the road and was inevitable. States cannot survive with their over-bloated public sector wages.

The more than tripling of public sector wages by GEJ and Yar'Adua was unsustainable and this was effectively imposed on states with minimum wage going from 5000 Naira to 18,000 Naira. This is fine if oil prices remained at record highs but that was unlikely
.

Added to that, many states borrowed with reckless abandon. This is why a state like Anambra is coping but Osun is reeling financially. Bail them out today without addressing the underlying problems - unsustainable public sector wages and debt - and you are merely papering over the cracks.

I don't understand the bold statement

Guy, do you have comprehension problem? ? Did you read the report at all? The report didn't even mention any single state that is asking for another fresh bailout, if at all they really are. The list you are referring to is not even complete. And like I said, all the SE states got bailout the last time except for Anambra, so they are in no position to be pointing fingers, that's the point. If you don't get that, that's your problem and not mine.

Osun this, Abia that, Aregbe that, Rochas this.... Youth of this generation sef. Instead of hammering this nonentities we are celebrating mediocrity. Are we even better of sef? No Bail out should be approve by Buhari for any state... If u cant use ur ingenuity as a governor to create wealth... Resign. If u can't afford to pay ur workers and u don't know how to generate money to pay them sack them or reduce their salary... Shebi all this idiot governor no wan think and they no wan resign ni... When angry workers consumed them there states will have peace. That idiots from Osun wey no get sense wey dey borrow money during oil windfall shebi na during oil slump im wan pay back...stupid idiot. The guy collected 2X bail out of any state yet na airport contract im still dey sign... The man is MAD.

I assure you, Abia will be great again like Anambra. Anambra, Abia and Ebonyi are getting it. Enugu people need to remove that career politician Ugwuanyi...former house rep member for over 10yrs, and find someone like Chime . Since he came in, its like Enugu just disappeared from SE map...not a single positive news out of Enugu for almost a yr now. Very disappointing as someone that calls Enugu his second home. Beautiful State! As for Imo, why they failed to elect a visionary leader like APGA Capt. Ihenacho amazes me. This is a man that thinks like Obiano and a good friend of Obiano too. If we can fix Enugu and Imo, SE will be on fire.
I love news I read everyday about Abia state of late but I don't understand why Ebonyi state is not getting much publicity like others because I am totally unaware of what is going on in that state. Enugu no longer impress me since Chime left, that state has huge agricultural potentials I wonder why they settled for less after Chime. IMO state I de cry for that state, their case is so bad that nothing works rochas is a big time failure. We need competition in SE let other SE states give Anambra state a run for their money.

Please ask Aregbesola what he did with the first bailout that was specifically meant for paying outstanding salaries?as we speak he has rendered civil service useless by paying the junior staffs full salaries and level 8 and above half salaries thereby making some of the junior staff to earn more than the senior staff.as we speak doctors have been on strike for more than 4months because they refused to b paid half-salary.And by my knowledge of simple arithmetic, the bailout provided for him which was about 35billion would have conveniently pay the workers for a year but what do we get? Nothing. Like someone has previously said, even if they are bailed out 20times some of them will still be irresponsible, example is Aregbesola followed by Rochas and others.....Awon oloshi gbogbo.

Remove Peter Obi's prudence and Anambra will be in the same boat as the rest of the SE. Remember even Obiano has started borrowing to complete projects -- e don spend all of Obi savings finish cheesy Your SE with the exception of Anambra isn't any better than the Yorubas states you are running down. Even Osun is far better than Imo and Abia which are oil producing and a market state. Abi dem no be Igbo/SE states again? Abi na aliens or Yorubas dey rule those states? What did Rochas do with all the Oil money? Osun never fire workers like Rochas did o.
Aside IMO, no SE state is owing regular workers

Guyman, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi collect bailout too o. Okorocha said Imo is broke o. Those are Biafran states o, not SW. cheesy
They collected bailouts and you need to see the number of roads these governors are constructing.
But some others collected bailouts and are still owing salaries , let's not even talk about infrastructure

The dysfunctional political structure we are operating is the main reason why most of the states are not economically viable.
We need to implement the national conference recommendations so that we can have a true federal system in place. We also need to merge some of the states together.
We should not have more than 10 states in Nigeria.

Some Governors refused to use the bailout to pay the salary of workers and pensioners as directed by the Federal Govt. They use the money for projects because they know that through project its easier to embezzle money. The project that worth #200m they will call it #700m e.g. Osun state

Are you seriously accounting IMO broke mess to SE Igbo. IMO IS broke because they stupidly aligned with ****. What that state went through is evidence that any SE or SS group that joins you **** so called "sophisticated" politics will become a piece of shit in matter of years. Pretty much a statement of "we're bleeped" The only thing you people are good at is media politics.

I recall how you **** kept telling us how veriable you all are. How advanced your lands are. How you aren't dependent on FG and oya yansh open, apart from Lagos, the entire **** needs bailout.

Lagos need to thank their lucky stars for oil companies, oyinbo and non ****. If not, they'll be just as useless as the rest of that region.

In SS, there's not one depending on FG.. thank you God
In SE, excluding Abia and Ebonyi, the rest are functional alright excluding the one that stupidly followed Una.

The difference between SE and **** they never sugarcoated how bad Ebonyi and Abia is but you ****, I thought Osun has the highest GDP in the entire south. Wetin happen?

States like Ogun state with all the industries and Abia state with all the business activities going on there should not be requesting for bailout

Abia requested for bail out immediately Okezie came, but right now we are doing fine, not requesting again.

We are kind of stable now.

The only solution is Rochas Okorocha's concessioning. Anything short of that will hit the brick walls. We need to accept the reality that civil service should be productive and not only for consumption. Why we have ghist workers, salary padding and all sorts of nonsense is because Nigerian civil service is like fuel subsidy and the solution is deregulating and commercialising it. Departments that produce more will have enough funds to pay minimum wage of 100thousand while the failed ones will see themselves earning 5k or less. Only the armed forces should operate as non profit.

yinmu, stop deceiving yourself. The next 3 months, i stand to be proved wrong, if oil stays at in the neighbourhood of 20usd , 35 states will go insolvent. The states will gas out soon enough, except if the IGR generated within the states surpasses what is received from the federal allocation, the bad news is,only Lagos state makes more IGR than it receives from Fed. allocation,
