I here by call on all Bayelsa state Indigens, residents, Igbos and Biafran hopeful, both in and ouside the country to openly reject this good will from High chief, (Rit.) Hon Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi to construct a railway line in Otuoke Bayelsa. Because this will be a slap on the face of former president Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan the suposed hero of the Igbo race, who aparently did not do anything in the whole of Bayelsa let alone Otuoke. This looming embarrassment must be averted.

What the hero could not do in six years, the man that has been labeld as a betrayer is about to do it in one year. What will people say?

Yorubas will benefit more from this project than any other group ... But why must it always be Lagos ? Why not make it calabar to Asaba and see if we will not support it undecided

What about the goods Igbo traders import from Cotonou? I guess they do not need Railway to transport their goods to Aba and Owerri.

The whole south will benefit from the Rail project. If the info the OP gave is anything to go by, the rail route would cover all the six state in the SS; three state in the SW; and two state in the SE.

The rail line traverse the major economic nerve centres/industrial hub of the SE which is Aba and Onitsha, from Onitsha you can easily connect Nnewi.
Owerri is more of a local relaxation spot.

because yorubas feel, think and believe SE is not suppose to benefit anything from this present administration.

what is the economic importance of the so called heartland to the industrialization plan of the Federal Govt?? Nothing

Aba need to transport raw materials from Lagos and also use the same route to export their finished product. So also is Onitsha.
Now tell me what this coastal road stands to gain when it crosses owerri with respect to the industrialization plan of the FG. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

Please criticize constructively

You just need to wise up here....SW has already benefited massively from Lagos-Kano rail as it covers 4 to 5 SW State. Their main industrial hubs have been taken care of. The duty of making Lagos -Calabar Rail a reality falls more on SS Senators and reps in the house. FACT.

FG to connect Otuoke to seaports by rail - Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.

Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, gave the hint last week in Lagos after a facility tour of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

Otuoke, the home town of former President Goodluck Jonathan, according to Amaechi, would be among the towns through which the East-West rail project would connect, commencing its journey from the Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River State.

The minister, whose mention of Otuoke in his presentation, elicited laughter, disclosed this while speaking to news men after his inspection of facilities at the airport, where he gave a rundown of the various towns to be linked up through the rail project.

According to him, the rail line would run thus:

Obudu-Calabar (Cross River State)-Uyo-Ikot Ekpene (Akwa Ibom)-Aba (Abia)-Port Harcourt (Rivers)-Yenegoa-Otuoke-Yenegoa (Bayelsa)-Ughelli (Delta)-Benin (Edo)-Asaba (Delta)-Ijebu Ode-Sagamu (Ogun)-Lagos, terminating at the Lagos port of Apapa.

We don't need railway. We don't need further migration to the West. We want to remain in our "land locked area" according to the zoo people.

If you must build the rail, just make it from Calabar - Asaba. Then we shall support it! gringringrin.

Tinubu fighting so hard to make sure this project is approved. But the Pro-Saraki senators who are in the Majority are wiser gringrin Hence they are teaching Tinubu Politics 101

Stop spreading this ridiculous logic. If you do not want, others want.

There are people in the Niger Delta who traveled by Bus to Lagos today that would have joined the train if it was working.

There are people moving goods to Aba today in large quantity and would have used the Railway if it was Available.

The Nnewi route will be more profitable than more than 90% of the routes proposed.
The loop between Yenagoa and Otuoke will be a huge waste, as that loop would have made greater economic sense if it was between Onitsha and Nnewi.

The only point more profitable than Nnewi will be Lagos and that is solely because Lagos is an entry point.

Nnewi will be on equal footing with places like PH, Onitsha and Aba. Anyway, I am sure a future Igbo president will do justice to Nnewi by linking it.

I hope the future president of Igbo extraction will consider constructing an Abuja-PH rail line which will travel through Abuja, Lokoja, Onitsha, Nnewi, Enugu Aba, PH

rail line is not a mandatory thing, if the associated problems are more than the associated benefits, then scrap the idea and look for a better alternative.
Re: Route Of The Coastal Railway From Calabar To Lagos by maupe: 5:39pm On Apr 12, 2016
Some of Nigeria's most fantastic projects are only feasible on the blueprints in the federal ministry of works. Amaechi only smuggled in this project to cause a division between the Executive and the legislature.
President Goodluck Jonathan is not one to waste his time on a project that is not politically feasible. This project is dead on arrival. It is simply a political publicity stunt
