It is really sad considering what's going on in the state.

When you come to places like Lagos and onitsha, 78% of the high way traders there na from Ebonyi state and most if them can't bost of good a single room not to talk of best sitter for themselves in these cities and they are not happy either but some of them can make good fortunes in their villages with farming and other agro allied business and live comfortably as well with good peace of mind

I just pray and hope that the present administration will stumble upon what Sam Egwu saw during his spell as Governor when he attend Governors' conference in Abuja that made him reduce the tution fee for their state uni and also pay bursaries to every indegenious student of the state so as to encourage them and strengthen their parents as well

Young man i don't think you understand the op's grouse. No one is against the governor buying cars for the lawmakers but why will he spend 15 million for a car when he can buy cheaper vehicles.
This is a state that recieves the second lowest allocation from the federation account.

old man, dats what was budgeted. If he uses less dan dat without dia permission, he'd be probed

listen , am not here to exchange words with you am here to lecture you with facts. Now, why can't the governor patronize innoson? Why can't the governor go for cheaper cars? Don't lie that this house members don't have car each, Nigeria polictians that I know very well like luxury lifestyle and buying cars to showoff with be problem to them. Now listen again, so that next you won't rant on social media like nairaland, I didn't say 75%,i said 95 percent of hawkers are ebonyians if you doubt me, enter road and inquire from them. Mr man, listen again what provisions have the governor made before making the announcement? So they should come back to Ebonyi state and start watching Telemundo? You say am not from Ebonyi state, I laugh in swahili because I don't rant Like you Mr man.

my dear friend, i only asked some question dat u were supposed 2 answer, instead u started raining abuses on me.. The Governor bought Innoson vehicles last year for the HOA members and they bluntly refused it. He returned it citing lack of funds pending when d state economy becomes Robust. So if u have a p, take it out with d HOA members not d Governor.

what are you talking about? I'm from Ebonyi state and since I heard the news yesterday, I was so shocked that I don't even know what to say.. Why is the ediot wasting our money buying expensive SUV for legislators that does virtually nothing? Why didn't he buy one of these Toyota sedan cars that is cheaper? What happened to Inosson? With 5m each, innoson can make a very nice official car for them.. I support the OP, the governor goofed on this one.. So all the tax the masses are paying through their is just for them to live a luxury life? We will mobilize and send a strong message to them starting from the legislators.. Anyone seen driving that SUV should be dealt by the masses.. Nonsense angry

Brother, its just a car loan not a gift...remember d monies would be deducted from dia salaries and severance.

After going through this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3213384/umahi-presents-2016-prado-suvs where the governor of my state donated 2016 Prado suv which cost 15 million Naira each I wept bitterly because I know the poor condition of my state. I am from ebonyi state and am not a shame to tell people my state of origin. I am writing this article with tears in my eyes because even our South East brothers consider or see ebonyians as fools because of ebonyians don't go to school. People like me who are willing to go to school can't because no money but the governor prefer giving out 2016 suv to house members that already have many cars. Please my governor, what happens if you use that money which you used to acquire 2016 prado suvs for scholarship? I went to Lagos of a recent to pay my uncle a visit, believe me I discovered that 95% of the people hawking on the street are ebonyians. Why can't you Mr governor use this medium that street hawking has been banned in Lagos to call those ebonyians back home and relocate them to the newly built international markets which is now a den of criminal activities in the state please?

It is a slap in our face that we ebonyians can't access loan to even farm which we are good at my governor. I still won't forget a day an ebonyi guy met me and discovered that am from ebonyi in Lagos, he asked me to follow him and start doing Street hawking that I will make it. I told him, I can't because am here for a visit and even if I want to follow him my uncle won't let me hawk even though I need money seriously for my school which am still struggling to enter because no money. What's the fate of that guy now that street hawking has been banned in Lagos? Why can't you from that money and give loans to farmers in ebonyi, give scholarship to those willing to further their education, call those ebonyians hawking in different streets of every Nigeria state home and give them that international market to make use and pay a little money to the state government? I am not a politician and I will never put my hand into politic. I am in my 20s but I weep bitterly for this state because there are many talents wasting in this great state. I am writing this article to you my able Governor, Enginer David nweze umahi like a son to a father because am just 20 years old. Ebonyians in diaspora hawking, let's come back home and make a ebonyi a great state. Nothing good comes easy but I believe we will get there one day.

@Wisdomkosi. Seun, lalastical, mynd4 help me push this to front page please

why are you making noise?
are you the only one who governor is squandering his money?
please, cool temper.
my state, nassarawa is the same.
our governor has eat all the money alone but want to pay 50% salary.
if you ask him about scholarship, he will use fulani herdsmen on your head.
so my sister, do not give yourself a bad name.

Wisdomkosi, sorry to hear about this. It's quite unfortunate. I'm South East and don't see ebonyi as worthless. I know most hawkers even here in ph are from that axis.

Ebonyi is blessed with vast agricultural land, especially for rice. You're also blessed with granite extrusions, limestone etc. You also have some nice River triangulation of your state good for Inland seaport through cross river. When I see ebonyi, I see a serene land of opportunities free from oil madness. Ndibe beach, Uwana beach, historical landscapes for tourism.

Our people die because of lack of vision. I have plans unfortunately no funds. I wish I could create agricultural parks in places like ebonyi and Enugu hinterland. It's unfortunate

I'm starting with Afikpo. I'm in a project to rally 2000 women to protest for high transportation cost fueled by increased tax on transport companies in ebonyi. No light in Afikpo too. Very annoying to see light in Ai to Abomege and Ohaozara to amasiri yet Afikpo will be cut off.

There are several areas that has been affected by flood even the very road that leads to the senators house is in deplorable condition. Yet nobody is doing or saying anything. Wow! This is highly commendable. Like Wole Soyinka said, "the man died in anyone who keeps quiet in the face of tyranny." I would have loved to be a part of the CHANGE movement if I were in that part of the country. You can open a thread and solicit support from 'Ebonyians' who are on Nairaland. Bia, take time o, don't even provoke me further. Stop misleading people. Mention any HOA member that doesn't have a car good enough to attract respect. Must it be 2016 Prado, did you know how much each of these cars cost? Should that be his priority as a governor?

You talk of him asking ebonyans to come home, to where exactly? has he prepared any place or done anything so far to assure them that if they come they'll be protected?

Aren't you stupid to think that he is right to buy such expensive cars for people that can take care of themselves. Didn't you hear of what Ayade did in cross river? Buying over 20 coaster buses to subsidize transportation.

Haven't you heard of the increased tax rate imposed on house owners and transport companies? Does he has to place a yoke upon the poor for the rich to benefit from? Is that what governance should be?

We're coming for him, we'll remind him why we voted him if he has forgotten.

'Mercysam23' am not saying Ebonyi Governor is perfect, am just telling u dat he is doing things step by step.. He started with Roads, went into fly overs, still handling street lights.. C'mon sister remember d sorry state d capital city was before he stepped in.. He still has a task of completing d ESSC(Ebonyi State Secretariat complex) and international market which was started by d previous administration, the Nigercem wld soon commence operations and dis alone would provide jobs and accomodation for over 12000 Ebonyians.. As some say, 'ebonyi recieves d second lowest monthly allocation bt He still pays salaries, unlike some other states who complain of lack of funds. Make him kill himself for u?... Lemme tell u something clearly. Ebonyians voted him because he was busy campaigning and sharing money and they thought it would continue dat way when he eventually assumes d throne. Although I do not support most of his policies my dear, our youth should stop being, lazy go out and do what others do to get comfortable and stop waitin for d government to put food on ur table.. Have u ever heard an Anambra youth comlain about d government? No! He ventures into sometin productive..
