i know Indian defense products r developed / R & D r done at shoe string budget

but i was kind of surprised myself to learn that DRDO spend only 14/15 million dollars in the research and development of the long range cruise missile.

America would have spent anywhere between .5-1 billion dollars for the same effort and capabilities

what u guys always fail to understand is that the yanks are always doing technological breakthroughs not copying pre-existing technology wich itself is costly and thats the reason why samsung and iPhone will ever be costly because they spend billions of dollars on reasearches. Cruise missiles have been in existence since so u can be so sure india didnt do jack from scratch.

for that to happen India will need a successful and extensive civilian military industrial complex , something which the Chinese Americans have .

India will need another 5-10 years to get to that point.

also India is bound by MTCR regime range will have to be capped at 300km , but there r ways to circumvent that .

anyways the missile costs only 5,00,000 dollars ie half a million dollars so its unit price is also very cheap compared to other similar missiles.

5-10 years for a industral complex is very optimistic,some technical problem in one or two areas could cause that long delay.

1 million dollar is a benchmark of a "middle class" in CHINA. In many major citys this sum can only buy an apartment with 2-3 living rooms, sometimes a villa in rural areas.

but sadly "middle class" are less than 10% of population,and they dont trust this county,dont satisfied by the goverment.many have "green card "abroad.
