That's my old woman's local government. The state government needs to bring serious miners in that will put their tools to use in kano state. Anyway there's gold in virtually every northwestern state.

Araba! Araba!! Araba!!! Lol
true federalism will help the governors in those states to receive sense so that they exploit the resources they have to generate revenue..

This is why the North is not taking the exploitation of its dozens of minerals lightly under this administration. We are awaiting Fayemi's progress because he is seriously disappointing with regard to solid minerals exploration.

I challenge the NNDC to extend their involvement in oil exploration to include the exploitation of the numerous solid minerals that the North is blessed with. The key is regulation and large scale mechanization of the extraction processes.

Arewa rising.

let the state governors fully take control of the resources in their state, then would you see progress...waiting on fayemi would be a wild goose chase..a restructuring towards state autonomy would hasten development...hope you can now see why I shout true federalism all the time..many think it's because GEJ lost..no..its because it's the sure way for all our lazy governors to put their acts together to generate revenue and jobs for our nation...

Hope you see quotasystem..

Let the north keep waiting for fayemi..buhari would be all about oil whilst neglecting the fact that the north is blessed with numerous solid minerals...

They should be stopped quickly. Lead poisoning is real. Remember Zamfara 2009. This same practice was what resulted in the deaths of all those children.

Healthier methods should be used.
Mining companies should be invited to invest there. Don't get me wrong, I'm on the same page with you.

Nothing stops states or regions from having companies that would bid and pursue the exploitation of its resources, such as the Northern Nigeria Development Company which had incubated several textile factories in the past. The missing ingredient is political will/capital and the North for example, has that in abundance.

All regions must become self sufficient before what you're proposing can be considered.

You guys keep saying this true federalism thing as if it is easy to implement. Resource control is good but the centre won't like to see it come to life{and this is irrespective of the person controlling the centre}. Jonathan was there for six years or so, you should ask yourself why he never mentioned it nor did the 7th assembly pass any bill that has to do with resource control/true federalism.

Resource control is not something that can happen in a day, a month or a year, the nation have to follow a very slow/gradual-process with a lot of painstaking before something like that can come to life again.

something is stopping regions and also impeding their full development and i just mentioned it...they dont have that political will bevause of the central government that acts like a MAMA..The FG would have to give the go ahead before anything tangible is carried as regards mining..and also these states would have to give all they accrue to the FG and the FG giving them back peanuts in return as state allocation from the center...the bottom line is the governor of that state cant fully explore resources to make money because of how our system works..

the system is faulty...

but resource control/true federalism must be a topic to discuss seriously..infact it should be preached to all leaders as the way out to rapid development..just look at the northern states waiting on fayemi before they can explore their God given mineral resources to make money...

if we keep waiting for the FG to do our main jobs for us as states we will have to wait for eternity..it is so glaring...

exploitation of mineral solids was abandoned in the first place because of the lack of structure for state autonomy...everybody abandoned everything for oil..and look at where it got us...

No battalion sharing crocodile smile. Alot of illegal mining is going on in the North. It is their resource but if it oil, everybody would be shouting one Nigeria. So many times I ask myself question why.
your blood too dey hot. When good money starts coming from it naturally any government will take it over. You think anyone would come to niger delta if no oil? Or it oil becomes worthless nobody will go for it. Everyone is looking for value

These resources should be made national resources like oil....not kano getting allocations from oil for their population and still getting to keep their own resources.

this is why i keep saying that Nigeria is not one. In the North, illegal mining of solid minerals in not a crime but in the South illegal refining of crude is considered a crime nd a punishable offence. When shall this country become to treat all equally irrespective of their ethnicity?
