Is is the duty of the soldiers to level militants and their camps and not level communities.

Militants lives also in these communities. All such communities should be given the Odi treatment.

The fulani herdsmen destroying lives are far worse than the militants. The militants even have a just cause but what is the purpose of the fulani herdsmen attacks on defenseless farmers. They should deal with the fulani terrorist first.

the army is only concerned about oil but yet want innocent people to risk their lives dishing out information overtly about the miscreants...

Bastards and buffoons, the usual parasites in this country will say "the entire village should have been burnt down" instead of the perpetrators should be apprehended and brought to book. As if everyone in the village is involved in criminality.

The people in the communities know who these criminals are , they know their hideouts, but they will never tell security forces, even when their evil children kidnap people , they see the kidnapped victims but prefer to support them because of money, they deserve what they get.

A friend of mine who was recently kidnapped and tied to a tree, said there was a church program going on about a few metres from where he was tied. The people carried on as if nothing was happening, imagine such evil and wickedness in some communities.

The Niger Delta region is the only region in Nigeria where there is no respect for elders by the youths, I think its because their parents never showed good example to their grand parents, no wonder its so backward amidst its so called wealth.

So, u support the levelling down of a community or the massacre of a whole town like Odi just because of some group of militants that can actually be fished out by the army? Very interesting how we reason in this part of the world. I pray the military don't decide to massacre ur whole village just because of a group of street cult boys or armed robbers.

Community people puncture pipelines to steal oil. Oil leaks and pollutes village stream

Oil company mobilizes to inspect spill site and to provide relief to village. Village youths demand for a bribe before someone helps them.

Can you imagine how crazy this sounds? Someone is coming to help you and you're demanding they pay money.

Re: Youths In Rivers Exchange Gunfire With Soldiers Over Oil Site by den504: 2:00pm On Sep 06, 2016
Nigerians greatest problems all come to play here. poverty, unemployment, corruption and "irrelevant ego". First, I for one know the amount of money oil companies put into settling host communities on regular basis, funny enough host communities never get satisfied, in this we can relate to poverty.
Second, if a young graduate having pulled through university and even getting a masters can barely get a job, what is hope of a young ijaw man hasn't seen the four walls of a university and has no skill, tell me why wouldn't they be militants. Honestly, they have nothing to lose, in this we can relate to unemployment.
Third, we all know the oil producing states take a chunk of the allocations from the federal government, since time memorial what have these states done with their allocations, for crying out loud oil companies cannot develop the state, that is the principal function of the state government since these companies pay their taxes. In this case we can relate to corruption.
Fourth, is the issue of "irrelevant ego". How will you attack and expect not to be attacked. "Wetin concern old woman wey dey her house jeje with militants way go find trouble". In as much as the communities might hide these young men, the military should know better.in this we can relate to "irrelevant ego"
Lastly, it then strikes me hard when some folks say goodluck Jonathan caused the present situation of the country just to suit their political affiliation. NIGERIAN'S PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY OVER 50 YEARS OF GROSS MISMANAGEMENT AND CORRUPTION!!! Which includes Mr goodluck's tenure and all the super rich military men u see. Let's stop using ethnic sentiments and propaganda to play the blame game. Instead let's demand as one for the right things be done for once from the local government, state government and Federal government.

you are just a big zombie joor, thats what you always say:level the community, then when someone comes with a more intelligent arguement, you zombiely say "why did the community harbour them, why didnt they expose them?",like militants is written on their foreheads, like you are there and are sure of your allegations..whatever happened to covert operations and investigations?! Oga, perhaps u don't know what genocide means, u can check it up in ur dictionary. The military, police, DSS or any other security agency arriving Niger Delta to conduct investigations and fish out whoever those militants are and make them face the law isn't genocide, but levelling and massacring a whole community like Odi just because of some militants is pure genocide. If u support that, then I commend ur reasoning.
