Taeewo:
Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun
Oyetunji Abioye with agency report

The Federal Government has approved plans for external loans from the World Bank, China and Japan.

It specifically said Nigeria would take loans from institutions such as the World Bank, African Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Export-Import Bank of China, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.

This will include low-cost and long-term loans with interest rates of 1.25 per cent and maturity of 20 years, according to comments posted on its Twitter.

The Federal Government said that details of a proposed Eurobond due later this year would be announced “in due course.”

According to the Presidency, the government is now waiting for lawmakers to approve the plans.

President Muhammadu Buhari had announced a N6.1tn ($19.4bn) spending plan aimed at stimulating the economy this year. The economy contracted in the first two quarters as oil revenue plunged.

Buhari said he expected the Federal Government to raise about $5bn from the Eurobond market and multilateral and bilateral lenders.

The Debt Management Office had last month asked banks to place bids by September 19 if they wished to manage a $1bn Eurobond sale.

The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, told bond investors in London in June that Nigeria was close to securing about $3bn of funding from the World Bank and African Development Bank.

Nigeria had issued dollar bonds twice, the last time in 2013. Yields on its $500m of securities due in July 2023 fell 11 basis points to 6.24 per cent, their lowest level since June 2015 and down more than 300 basis points since hitting a record 9.4 per cent on January 18, Bloomberg reported.

FG has been borrowing since I was born. If we can hire a foreign coach, then we can hire a foreign finance minister.

I pray this nation would not be put for sale on OLX for all these excessive borrowings.

We borrow to do all things. Pay salaries, president's travel, president's medical trips even to loot.

Seeking for loan is not an issue at all but the issue is for them not to loot the loan but they should use 100.00% of it to develop the country.

Whilst we wait for the loan to come, release funds from the TSA to banks to give loans at single digit interest rate.

PMB can reduce the powers on the centre by telling the states to go source funds (not loan ) from investors, build inter state railways and federal roads. Example is Anambra and Enugu getting investors to construct Enugu - Onitsha express way.

With this, we would have to take lesser amount of loans as the burden on FG to spend us out of recession will be greatly reduced.

It's a win win situation for Buhari. He will claim the glory for being responsible for turning the whole of Nigeria into huge construction site and also we won't have to owe much to achieve it.

China too? What happened to our currency swap deal? That one too has failed to see the light of the day just like many other policies of this government.
Don't mind them. they refused to do due diligence in properly studying all the terms and conditions. it was a firm in china that the nigerian government was unkowingly doing the deal with, not government to government. secondly, the xchange rate was not clearly stated. naira to yuan and vise versa. so thats dead on arrival.

Borrowing more money only means more poverty in the long run, because the fundamentals of the economy we still haven't solved. These loans would only be used for importation and infrastructures and still wouldn't address our core problem which is that we're not a manufacturing nation. The way I see this government going, there's a good chance the loan is a waste.

And a man came forward, implemented TSA, took war to the Nigerdelta, divided Nigeria into the 97% and 5% regions, tightened FX cash flow, frightened investors, gallivanted the globe telling the world how useless an corrupt Nigerians were, went after his political enemies, refused to provide an economic blueprint, murdered Shiites and IPOB, sponsored herdsmen, conducted inconclusive elections, created high level forex corruption platform for his northern elites, took nepotism and extremism to a brand new height ....... and in less than 15 months reduced a once hitherto promising economy/ nation to the mockery of all nations.

Now he stupidly comes back to tell Nigerians that the change he carefully destroyed begins with them. And we now have to borrow funds that will enslave our kids for many years to come just because we have an illiterate, undiscerning, old, evil and nomadic president.

This is a country that was the biggest economy in Africa less than 15 months back (How do you measure an economy? By production, which then guarantees stable income. Please tell us what Nigeria was producing apart from Oil and Cement, that made it the biggest economy in Africa?)

This is a country that had unprecedented FDI inflow ( Which FDI inflow? Hedge Funds using your Stock Exchange for gambling? Remember that they satrted moving out their funds way back Nov 2014 when they saw the handwriting on the wall, one of which was NOI budgeting to borrow =N=1 trillion to pay FG salaries)

This is a country that had significant investors (foreign and local) blowing hot in many sectors (Pls name the significant investors. Foreign investors were raping us & Local investors were playing around with slush funds, thats why 1 man like Ben Murray Bruce can be owing Union Bank =N=11 billion. Multiply that by the other so called big men in Nigeria & see the damage we had done to ourselves before now)

This is a country that had relative peace in the Niger Delta and stable crude productions and sales (You had FALSE relative peace because (1) 25% of our oil was bn stolen by the militants and their protectors & (2) Tompolo was buying warships and was given the security and Tax collection of Niger Delta water ways by NIMASA, so, how was the criminal meant to report criminal activities perpetuated by himself)

(TSA is one of the best things to happen in Nigeria to curb stealing & it has shown how the banks were hiding away money for civil servants. BAnks were declaring =N=100 billion profits but the other sectors of the economy they were meant to be servicing were dying. How do you reconcile that. TSA is wonderful!. FX is demand and supply. There is no supply becos you are not selling oil becos NDA are blowing pipelins, s, we shall all suffer it together. @globetrotting: You have to identify that the countries PMB has visited are strategic. Dubai; Qatar; U.K; Equatorial Guinea; USA....signed MOUs on recovery of stolen money. U.K has put their own recovery into motion and you shall see the results soon.)

Now he stupidly comes back to tell Nigerians that the change he carefully destroyed begins with them. And we now have to borrow funds that will enslave our kids for many years to come just because we have an illiterate, undiscerning, old, evil and nomadic president.

May the lot who knew better but still took the path of tribalism to vote in the sufferings we are experiencing today never find things easy in a long time.
Becos you grew up knowing only the bad ways of governance, you are now thinking that this good way is wrong. No! We have to sacrifice to get it right. If GEJ had continued, the country would have imploded one day as you cannot keep deceiving and hiding lies.

Was it PMB that allowed Dasuki to share recovered Abacha loot like sweets?
Was it PMB that gave fmr Chief of Defence Staff all the monies he stole?
Was it PMB that gave fmr Chief of Air Staff all the monies he stole?
Was it PMB that gave Dieziani the =N=23billion she shared to bribe INEC officials?
Was it PMB that made Nigeria lose $Billions in Malabu deal?
Was it PMB that paid =N=trillions to Oil subsidy fraud for petrol not delivered?

Will you just leave Buhari alone! There is nothing happening in Nigeria now that has not happened before. Is Buhari the first president to borrow? The Nigerdeltan vandals/criminals did nothing during Gej's time for two reasons: ethnic affiliation and the fact that guy gave them contracts and 'settled' them regularly. I always knew that Gej and NOI and their Western croonies were busy lying to anyone who cares to listen that the economy was growing faster than ever. Do you wanna know what happened? GEJ allowed free flow of cash among the thieves that determine what happens to Nigerians (both private and public sector). That is all. When GEJ was elected after helping Yaradua to finish his tenure, the first right thing he tried to do ( although he eventually chickened out) was to face the mess in the oil sector. This he tried to do with the advise of NOI. But when they both realised that Nigerians (people like you) were not ready to face reality, they started lying to you. Now somebody with a stronger will is at the helms and you are comparing him wirh Gej. You are demonizing Buhari. You sit down there and say anything you like when you know that things had gone bad long before your docile saviour even became president. Gej was busy whitewashing the economy. He was painting white a sepulchre filled with maggots, rot and stench and you of all people could not see through that. SMBH.
