Ekiti Begins Payment Of N5,000 As Social Welfare Stipend To 10,000 Residents by NaijaEfcc: 9:28pm On Oct 05, 2016
The Ekiti State Government on Wednesday announced the commencement of the implementation of its Social Welfare Scheme for the needy, aged and unemployed.

Under the scheme, 10,000 beneficiaries already shortlisted, would receive N5,000 each monthly.
Gov. Ayo Fayose, who launched the scheme, said beneficiaries cut across various strata of the society.
He said the money was being paid directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

According to the governor, the programme was designed to reduce the financial challenges faced by the beneficiaries.

The governor assured that in spite the current economic downturn, his administration would still find ways of helping the downtrodden to enable them live in some level of comfort.

He said the beneficiaries cut across the physically-challenged, the albinos, visually-impaired, the aged, among others.

The governor said no fewer than 6,000 beneficiaries had their accounts credited with the money on Wednesday, Oct. 5, the kick-off date.

He explained that by directly crediting accounts of beneficiaries, the state was eliminating fraud and ensuring that the real beneficiaries get the money,

APC e-herdsmen will soon arrest this thread with claims of stomach infrastructure, misappropriation n their usual slanders

This is a good move by Gov. Ayodele Fayose. The palliative is very much welcomed looking at the present economic realities. As the governor of a state, your call shouldn't just be infrastructural development, the welfare and wellbeing of the people should also be one of your primary assignments

Quite impressive. FG should please do likewise

Gov. Fayemi to pay Elders N5000 monthly

Elderly citizens of 65years and above in Ekiti State will henceforth receive a monthly stipend of #5000 under the State Social Security Scheme as the State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi flagged- off payment on Monday .

The programme, which is the first in the country, is in fulfillment of the Governor's campaign promises to cater for the aged in the state and supplement their livelihood.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at Ise Ekiti, Dr. Kayode Fayemi said the scheme was designed to provide for the aged and significantly reduce old age poverty in the State.

The governor who personally handed over checks to some of the elderly citizens at the flag off, said the money would be paid between 23rd and 25th of every month

Though I don't particularly like Fayose, but this is worth commending. It was Fayemi's initiative, and I love continuity in government.
But what is the actual population of the would be beneficiaries of the scheme? For the whole of Ekiti, they should run to hundreds of thousands. For ordinary 10,000 people, that's #50,000,000 monthly. Now the question is, for how long can the state government sustain the scheme? Baring in mind that more people will still be included.

Make e no start wetin e no fit finish o.

I don't support Fayose on this.
Any responsible govt should talk abt capital expenditure not recurrent. that's why most of our leaders make the citizenry impoverish and they smile at that. Mr Fayose, I luv you but that's #500m we are talking about here. Don't you have youths with ideas? Don't you have Zuckerbergs in your state? Pls our leaders should stop this madness Buhari infested.

yes but the hunger is too real. Thanks to your hero Buhari. If Buhari had done his job, fayose would have used this money for other things. But he doesn't want his people to die of starvation like your governor wants you too
