mencer: this is why like somebody said, we need more scientists and engineers in govt. An engineer as Power minister would have advised the president better in addition to a pure scientist as environment minister. Nigeria has refused to sign the EPA/west africa deal simply because we fully understand the implications with the economic experts that we have but we keep failing in the areas that are scientific and technically oriented. |

I'm with Kemi Adeosun on this. Nigeria needs development. Ozone layer depletion is the last of our concerns, those who depleted it to develop their nations should make amendments while those of us still developing can take our own turn. We have coal in Enugu- Benue- Anambra- Kogi- Edo range. In commercial quantities too. Are the westerners saying that we should discard them? They are not serious. One must make use of what one has to get what one needs. We need cheap electricity to kick start our own industrial revolution and increase the living standard of our people, Coal will give us that Cheap electricity. This again begs the question of Buhari's competence? Why exactly did he sign a treaty that made it difficult for Nigeria to access her Coal reserves for electricity generation. This is so foolish of him, Nigeria just shot herself on foot. 1 Like 1 Share |

Another excuse for non performance and display of cluelessness. Western powers advise our govt on the cost effective way of generating electricity for a tropical country and our govt takes it as a directive or hindrance. Will the West invade us if we wish to go ahead with coal ? No ,we will just reap the folly of our choice in years to come when the technology of coal electricity becomes obsolete. This is a case of misplaced activism. |

Blocking you from doing what exactly. They haven't blocked government from buying armoured limousines and executive jets, it is power plants they block us for. I don't get it. Just get the Chinese on line. They commission a coal fired power station every month or so and surely will be decomissioning one every two months just as frequently. Buy these at bargain prices and let them bridge the power suply gap in the short term while the economy is fixed. |

porka:I went through the link you tagged, I must commend your reference. .... I stand with Buhari front and back but his ministers are in no doubt quarks. How can she not be aware of the sensitivity of the Paris agreement her boss signed? It's in no doubt a shame on her to come out to make such statement. They were just following Mr President up and down without knowing their primary assignment. 1 Like |

TheEastActivist:. U no get sense! Coal is the cheapest source of power per kilowatt, coal is being used by southafrica, Poland, China, USA, Russia till present. Percentage of coal dependence ranges from 94%- 30%. So if industrialized countries still use it, why are we excluded? So we can subscribeto expensive power solutions from international power companies! Reason before you open ur loud mouth! Knowledge is power. |

The white man miseducated you. Guess who wrote the history books that told you are great and noble ancestors were so dumb they exchanged their people for mirrors and alcohol? Yes the white man wrote the history you have blindly accepted. The white man is virtually 100% to blame for all our problems in Africa. gemale: |

Nigeria will not be honest with herself not with anyone else, the true thing is that we are our own problem but we will quickly be pointing to others as our problems, we Nigerians are our own problems or at least the primary problems |

basilo101: If there was any daft that this woman is daft, she has cleared it all. Buhari gleefully went to sign the Paris agreement just a couple of weeks back, an agreement which stipulates cutting down global carbon emissions especially coming from coal powered energy plants. Practically, existing coal plants are expected to be wound down gradually, not to talk of building new ones. Does it mean that Madam Kemi doesn't understand the English in that Agreement? |

CSTR2: Deluded chimp. Pls gain knowledge. The U.S has for centuries been controlled by the global elites (a few group of people). Some say they are illuminatis. These people are determined to control the world resources. Because controlling it means controlling the world. Africa and specifically, Nigeria is blessed with so much natural resources. And they stop at nothing to ensure they bend us to their will and control us. As they did their own country. Example: http://humansarefree.com/2014/03/the-device-that-cured-cancer-destroyed.html You can also research the tragedy of NIKOLA TESLA, one of the most brilliant scientist of history's nobles. Who would have changed the world to a whole new level of dead-cheap and limitless energy. The powers that be didn't want him and his tech. |

But shey dis lady think well befor she said this? did she consider the cost first or she doesnt know the implication. OK! let me quickly tell her. 1) World Finance Minister rating will come out from one idiotic rating firm from west then kemi's name will be in the botom. 2)Kemi's name will soon pop up and be accused by nigerians of not being competent, a reason nigeria economy bends down to dance soki like those two boys above but never come up since. 3)kemi if care is not taking u'll lose important files in ur office because you have insulted gods, all those guys around you are tools in western hands 4) Part of side effects of what you said is you may lose sucurity personnels around you for some minutes, they're not trying to kill u they are just saying they dont like what you said dont again 5) soon there may be rumours that some ministers are to be changed & your ministry in particular a place where change is needed, it's not really happening, western world is sponsoring that reminding you to apologise |

GenBuhari: I cannot allow blind sentiments or a false sense of loyalty becloud my reasoning. So u tnk d white man came en masse & enslaved Africans entirely on their own wt out African leaders assisting dem? Africa in those days was nicknamed d graveyard of D white man. Our climate was too harsh 4 d average white man & cld inflict sunstroke on a white man. D white man's immune system was too weak 2 withstand diseases lyk malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever etc dt an average African was used 2. D vegetations (especially d rainforest & mangrove swamps) were very difficult 4 Dem 2 penetrate so d few whites dt were present were mostly located in d coastal areas. African leaders were d 1s who sent native slavers 2 capture pple in d hinterlands & bring dem 2 D coast where dey were exchanged 4 things lyk guns, gunpowder, rum, clothing, mirrors etc. We wld neva progress until we recognize dt while d white man has a hand in our previous problems, we r d current architects of of our present misfortunes. Is Africa d only place d white man colonized? No. They colonized d Americas, parts of Asia, Australia & yet hw many places r as bad as Africa? Do u know dt majority of Australians r descendants of hardened criminals banished 4rm Britain on d pain of death shld dey dey return? If d descendants of criminals cld make their coun3s work fyn, wt valid excuse do we hv 2 nt dev our continent? As 4 accusing d white man of distorting history, ur hatred or dislike 4 him shldnt make u deny his ingenuity & represent facts wt a certain degree of candor (albeit imperfectly). Men lyk jaja of opobo, D itshekiri merchant prince Nana etc were all involved in slave trade. Jaja himself was a slave captured 4rm present day imo state bt instead of being sold 2 D white man was bought & made a member of D great pepple trading house. Even when William Wilberforce was able 2 spearhead d abolition of slave trade in British colonies, dey didn't wnt 2 stop. Dey kept on dealing in slaves wt d Americans, Portuguese etc until d British had 2 send ships 2 patrol d Atlantic Ocean in search of offenders. Our very own Samuel ajayi Crowther was 1 of d pple saved by ds move. If d white man distorted history, y didn't he absolve himself of all d blame of d slavery, colonization, exploitation & discrimination we find chronicled in history or beta still erase it? |

You got this history you wrote from history books abi? Who wrote the history books? The white man! If Hitler had won the second world war, he would have written that period of history. Do you think the genocide against the Jews would be represented truthly in history books written by Hitler? The deaths of Jews may have been blamed on the Jews themselves. gemale: |

ogwumgbe:because d youths r ill prepared 2 step in & lead. Dey r no beta dan d elderly. Dey hvnt bn trained 2 tnk 4 demselves. 4rm childhood, dey r taught 2 accept wteva an older person tells dem wt out critically questioning it. Dey r no beta Dan d sheep portrayed in George Orwell's "animal farm" dt blindly follow d guidance of D pigs mindlessly bleating & repeating wteva dey r ordered 2. D youth has 2 start deliberating on tenets our nation shld b built upon, hw d numerous problems in our coun3 can b solved etc. |
