@ NAIRALANDERS NGIGE CAMPAIN FOOT SOLDIERS!
can someone name the achievements of ngige when he had stint as the govenor of anambra state apart from building road? if any one can authoritatively name 2 outstading capital project he achieved within 3 years in the government you will get a prize?

How could someone say Ngige did nothing in 3 years!

I am not sure what such statement means. If you wanna support Obi, base it on the merits of his achievements and not on running another down.

Ngige built roads because there were no roads before he came, yet he had predecessors.

Paying of salaries arrears and paying promptly is nothing I guess.

Now given the cmimate under which he worked, he did a lot. I do not know if he would have been that good without the persecution but you have to give to him for the much he did because the enemies of Anambra distracted him all the way.

I have no beef against Obi but, I will go with ngige!

another point to consider.
Since nobody is after Ngige, he can do as he pleases if he becomes a governor.

Exactly!!!!!!!!!! someone should name his achievements. He governed 4 three yrs and yet did nothing. Someone should tell me what he did in those 3 yrs(and dont tell me shit about roads and salaries), the person will get a prize.

1.Government House Awka: rebuilt by Governor Obi following its destruction in the 2004 political mayhem
2.The magnificent state secretariat complex phase 1: before its construction by the Peter Obi Administration, Government ministries were scattered in towns and villages all over the state
3.Ministry of Justice Building in Onitsha abandoned by previous governments from 19899, completed by Governor Obi in 2008
4.Faculty of Law Building at Anambra State University: one of the many faculty buildings with Governor Obi transformed the glorified secondary school into a university and secured accreditation for the university's academic programmes
5.Male and Female wards at Cottage Hospital Umunze, Orumba South L.G.A. providing effecient health care at the grassroots
6.Opening up of the Iyiagu Flood Channel in Awka: one the earthshaking achievements of the Obi Administration; the ten-year blockage of the channel under previous administrations wreaked untold havoc on the town and its inhabitant
7.Breast cancer/Cardiac Dialysis Centre at Onitsha General Hospital: the only such centre in the entire South-East
8.Onitsha North Mini Stadium: the first Stadium to be built by any Government in Anambra State
9.Mobility Aids for distribution to the physically Challenged: good governance for the Obi Administration is all inclusive, as all segments of the population are carried along and given a sense of belonging
10.Loans to farmers
11. Six judges quaters
12. Two new modern parks under construction in Onitsha
13. No more stories of touts molesting and harrassing people at upper iweka.

and many other numerous achievements in just 4 years, and some fools here are telling us how Ngige constructed only roads in 3 years?

what an irony?

You must be very clever. Unfortunately most people in the state think you are not. Going by the votes here on NL and the way every Anambranian I've met are singing his name, you seem to be  the  one confused or aping.

Never knew Ngige was this popular in Nairaland. Please can someone give a comprehensive list of all his achievements thus far. Obi seems to be increasing his lead over Soludo but Ngige lead seems unsurmountable at the moment. Soludo, whats happening, we need to know your antecedents.
Re: Ngige, Soludo Or Obi: Who Would You Choose As Your Candidate And Why? by ofala(m): 1:40pm On Oct 24, 2009
Mr. Peter Obi has to a very large extent redefined our governance should be[ especially as regards Anambra State]. He should be given a deserved second term.
Re: Ngige, Soludo Or Obi: Who Would You Choose As Your Candidate And Why? by archangel1(m): 2:36pm On Oct 24, 2009
@ofala
you got the point.we need fundermental democratic dividends now.our neigbouring states have surpassed anambra state before the coming of obi. the mandont want to do magic with public fund.he would have use it to built a giant airport while our genral hospital has not been accreditated. he is gradualing coming out with his across the board plan. obi deserves second term now.
Re: Ngige, Soludo Or Obi: Who Would You Choose As Your Candidate And Why? by Obinoscopy(m): 6:12pm On Oct 24, 2009
Learnt the Court has ruled that Soludo is not the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate for the forthcoming Anambra Election. The political climate is thickening in Anambra State.

i say Obi for second term.

Are you implying that the 3 main candidates are educated puppets? I beg to disagree with you. If you say that previous gubernatorial candidates were educated educated puppets, i will agree with you. But this the only time in the Nigerian political history that 3 candidates with impressive national and international antecedents are vying for a post in Nigeria. It is an indication that the future is bright for our great country.

Soludo had the chance to make our banking institution an exemplary one as a learned one but all indications emanating now seems to point to a shamble tenure. He had his chance but failed and there are so many other millions of nigerians waiting to try.

Leadership is a calling not a privilege. It's either you do it right or mess off.

Soludo's failure is akin to El-rufai's or Ribadu's failure.

When people have no ideas of their own they attack other people's records.
Aliyu Modibbo who succeeded Elrufai later was shown for the failure he was, Waziri who tookover from Ribadu has been shown for the failure she is. Time will come when Sanusi will no longer have the luxury of criticizing others and Nigerians will come to realise how hollow his reform has been.

So say what u like about Soludo. History will vindicate him.

I sincerely dont know much about Ngige's antecedents but he seems to be the most popular on nairaland. His short turbulent rule must have really impressed nairalanders.
I wish him the best though.

Soludo seems to be loosing steam both in nairaland and in the poltical atmosphere. Learnt that INEC has removed Soludo's name from the list of contestants based on a High Court ruling. Some respite for Obi and Ngige camp. The source of the news is the guardian: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2009/10/26/inec-removes-soludos-name-from-list/

Will this goodnews boost his political popularity and chances of winning the oncoming elections.

The situation gets tougher even for Peter Obi, I learnt a faction of APGA have asked for Peter obi's name be substituted for Hon Ozodinobi
What this means is that INEC might eventually field another candidate under APGA!
It seems everything is working in favour of Chris Ngige! Or what do you think?

Soludo is more modern. Let us see him as Donald Duke. Shun this talk about him and CBN, Nigeria would have fallen anyway.

Nigeria: Masterweb Team Scores Governor Obi High

Masterweb team was on the ground in Awka August 25 to 27 for celebrations marking the twentieth anniversary of the creation of Anambra State. Anambra was created on August 27, 1991 by the military government of General Ibrahim Babangida. Our team operating as independent observers travelled across the state on August 25 inspecting projects by Governor Obi’s administration. The team began their trip at 9.00 am ending at 7.00 pm when it was getting dark and did not completely cover all the targeted projects. Our team returned to Anambra on August 30 after the celebrations to visit remaining projects.

It took us this long to file a report on our assessment of Governor Obi’s performance which we are rating “excellent”, because we employed both visual, common sense and scientific methodology in arriving our rating. We visually saw the projects and not a third party describing them to us, used common sense to assess them and scientific methods to cross-check assumptions and conduct accurate analysis.

In our analysis we compared Anambra State under Governor Obi to other states in Nigeria and not in the United States nor anywhere-else in the developed world. Comparison of a Nigerian city or state to any place in the developed world can not be made until the federal government delivers on her responsibilities. The infrastructural and power supply situation in Nigeria is shameful, to say the least. These are constraints among others, in the ability of a non-corrupt efficient governor doing his best.

In our statistical comparative analysis, the performance of Governor Obi was above the mean (average) and significantly too. Using a confidence interval around the mean of 3 standard deviations, Obi's score was determined to be statistically significant. This ranked him one of the best governors in the country.

In the analysis we rated the projects by Obi’s administration assigning each project a number between 1 to 10 (10 for excellent), adding up the total and deriving the mean value. We came up with mean values for other states from figures from members of our team and reliable contributors, in a survey organized for that purpose. These were the numbers we used in our statistical analysis.

In the next couple of days we will commence the release of our inspection reports and photos. Our reports will be on few projects at a time, to enable readers devote more time and attention on each project.

Projects visited and inspected by our team include:

1. Amaku University Teaching Hospital

2. Anambra State Ultra Modern Fire Service Headquarters & State Emergency Management Complex, Awka.

3. New Anambra Govt. Secretariat (Twin Building)

Anambra State is one of the names that can not be omitted in the history of Nigeria and Igboland. It has always been at the forefront of issues in Nigeria and South East Region. This is the reason why Anambra is among the places Masterweb has reportorial interest. Masterweb independently covered Anambra State Association-USA (ASA-USA) ‘09 Convention which held in Washington DC on October 24, 2009. In 2010, our team in conjunction with citizen reporters monitored (live) Anambra 2010 gubernatorial election. This year we were on the ground in Anambra touring the state and independently inspecting projects by Governor Obi’s government. Yes, eventually we touched down in Anambra to report the true situation of things in the state in terms of development. Masterweb is renowned for the authenticity and accuracy of her investigative, fact-finding and reportorial works. We do not operate based on hearsay, vindictive or tabloid reporting as some news media and authors have done in Anambra in the past.
