Before independence the Eastern region had the highest literacy rate, that was why after independence Easterners were able to occupy the top positions in most gov't parastatalls and flourished in the era of meritocracy.

ZIK was among his peers the only one that actively promoted the 'one Nigeria' and the unification of the North and South, he coined the phrase 'one Nigeria'

Hhahaha... Your brothers said on page 0 that before independence, Igboland had no university, while the western region already did. Yet according to you, Igbos had the highest literacy before independence. Infact, by Nigeria's independence in 1960, the Western region had the Highest number of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions in Nigeria. A Western triple whammy....

As at the time Chinua Achebe attended the University College of Ibadan, there was no University in Igboland. Good

Too much talk made him shoot himself in the foot. Lol.

That was when leaders had vision beyond their time, now the vision is to come and die in tax payers hands so we carry the burden of burying a siting president with tax payers funds.

The real father of what an ideal Nigeria should have been, Awolowo & Bello were just regional warlords who laid the foundation of the rot of the country through sectionalism & tribalism!
Really, so because zik entered coalition with d north, hez d real father of Nigeria and not a slave to his northern masters... Talk about double standards

Inferiority complex will kill you if you don't desist.About this same time, people in most areas of iboland were still walking around unclad and using leaves to cover their unclothedness. It was what zik saw in the west he tried to duplicate in the east which is highly commendable

I will take the pain of educating a retard like you. When Nigeria was going into independence, it has just one university located in Ibadan. The regional leaders decided to build one university in each region and one in Lagos which was the Capital. The following where built, University of Ife in western region, University of Nigeria in eastern region, University of Northern Nigeria in northern region and University of Lagos in the Capital. However, when Awolowo died, university of Ife was named after him, when Ahmadu Bello died the university of northern Nigeria was named after him. But the Igbos being unappreciative and ungrateful breeds they are, they refused to name the university after their so called founding father. Instead they named him after a 3rd tier university in Awka.
Now think about that slowpoke grin cheesy

Prof.Kenneth Dike was the first indigenous vice chancellor of University College Ibadan.
This Igbo man laid the foundation for what U.I. later became. Thanks to the excellent administrative
acumen peculiar to the Igbos ,little wonder their foray in the businesses was and still remains a success story like no other.

Liar. Easterners occupied top position due to zik alliance with Balewa nothing more. There were so many educated westerners then like sapara williams, rotimi williams, ayo rosiji, adetokunbo ademola, fani-kayode, bode thomas, adeyemo alakija etc.
