Lets not distort fact. The Financial Reporting council in charge of overseeing non for profit organizations was created and signed into law in 2011 with Mr Obazee as the head ,On May 18, 2011 to be precise. This particular tenure ship law which passed through the council was proposed in 2011 by some mischievous people but met major resistance from the Federal government under GEJ and some other individuals in Government then ,it was taken to court and it was swept under the carpet immediately then in 2011 and never saw the light of the day, that's why most people are just hearing about it now, ,now come 2016 ,the law is revisited, implemented and became effective, October 2016. So what changed all the way from 2011 to 2016 that there was sudden need to revisit and implement it? Lets stop telling lies to justify this.

I have a question for you...

Did the Church cease to exist when Paul and Peter and most of the apostles were martyred?

Would the Church of God in Nigeria cease to exist when Oyedepo, Kumuyi, Odukoya, Okonkwo, Oyakhilome, Oristejafor, et al resign or retire.?

Your Christianity is man centered.

No physical force can stop the Church of God....because Jesus is its head...and no Government can remove him.

The men you are worshiping are servants of God like you. Their removal is irrelevant to the prospects of God's kingdom in Nigeria. Our God will be our refuge.

Yea it's all about power and money. A man who is wealthy might not be powerful but one that wield both wealth and power is a god. Religion leaders such as bishops, imams, chief hoodoo doctors etc are Demi gods and "god" to many people because they don't have only wealth but their followers are ready to do anything for them in return for divine rewards. In case you don't know the pope is as powerful as the "Queen of England", if not even more powerful than her. The pope has more than 1 billion followers ( who believes in better lives in heaven) and millions are fanatics. He may decide to bring about another crusade if he's drunk with power and yes getting a gun and weapon of mass destruction nowadays is as easy as purchasing a toilet paper. The power of the pope is controlled and checked by the Vatican Law hence his tenure is limited.

Now imagine "Rev King" ( the convicted man on death role for touching his member) has followers as that of the pope, many of which are of course fanatics. Yes, within you is a sense of fear from the chaos that may arise if he's criticized and he (rev king) decided to show you how drunk a mad man can be.

I hope you understand now.
you have written well. But you err when you said the tenure of the pontiff is limited by the Vatican law. No.once a Pope is elected, he governs the Catholic Church for life excepted incapacitated by health, and for personal reasons, decided to resign as was the case of Pope benedict XVI. The Canon law which is the law that governs the church stipulate that any male, baptised n practising Catholic can be elected in theory t the papacy, but in reality popes of recent are elected from among cardinals who are less than 80 years. It only Bishops of Western rites catholics and eparchs n primates that abdicate their bishoprics at the attainment of mandatory 75 years. They according to canon law must submit a letter of resignation to the Pope. You rightly mention the powers or influence of the Pope. He is the 4th most influential individual on earth aside wielding a spiritual influence on more than 1.2 billion souls.he is regarded as primus interperes meaning first among equals. He governs the Catholic Church not as his personal estate rather with the college of Bishops which is referred to as the magisterium...truth is this law can't be applicable to Catholic Church cos the church already had centuries old governmental structures which modern societies copied.

Fayose you are on point again.

have you read the law? no.
does the law affects Adeboye as the spiritual head of RCCG? no.
does the law prevent him from carrying out his godly works as before? no.
does the law stop him from ministering sunday service even in Nigeria? no.
so what is the issue?
the law is a corporate governance law. here is a copy from the act.

9.3. Where the Founder or Leader has occupied all or any of these three governance positions
for more than twenty years, or is aged seventy years or above, the choice in section 9.2.2
above should only relate to the Board of Trustees as in section 9.4(c) below, except the
constitution of the organisation otherwise provides.
In the case of religious or cultural organisations, nothing in this code is intended to change
the spiritual leadership and responsibilities of Founders, General Overseers, Pastors,
Imams and Muslim Clerics, Presidents, Bishops, Apostles, Prophets, etc. which are
distinguishable from purely corporate governance and management responsibilities and
accountabilities of the entities.

Thanks for a broader lecture about the Vatican law. I do appreciate, but still it's a law written to protect a rouge pope who feels power hungry. It's same or near policy that's been used now in Nigeria to checkmate the religious body. After all, the big churches and mosques are controlled by men and being mortal, men are bound to mistakes of which might lead to terrible consequences if his/her actions are not properly regulated. Now you spoke of the pope being the 4th most influential man, but i can boldly tell you it's just paper statistics. In reality the pope is the first due to the massive wealth and autonomy of the Vatican coupled with the every growing followers of the Roman Catholic doctrines.

People are taking this their love for Pastor Adeboye too far oo.. I was surprised when our pastor reluctantly announced baba's hand over only at the worker's meeting. He carelessly stated that the new G.O dare not appear as G.O in Chad Republic, even as close as Chad is to Nigeria. He needlessly relegated the status of the office of the new G.O. The creation of a new office of Spiritual leader/G.O worldwide only further underscore the sit-tight leadership mentality of an average African man, pastor or no pastor. What is most respectful is for daddy G.O. to honourably release the goat and the rope to Pastor Obayemi. He will still remain the idol of many, but now, he seems to have lost it.

Any one who challenges God Almighty and His church is bound to receive the wrath and anger of the Most High God. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. I really pity this FG. It's really funny. Si you want an anointed man of God to step down and leave the sheep of God under his clear. Do they think leadership of the church is a political appointment. This FG is playing with fire.

Tnx dude u right on the part of having laws to check mare the excesses of humans. As an ex religious and still a staunch Catholic I can tell u the church has gone tru the ear of power hungry political inclined popes whose words were laws
Positive n negatives values have being the hallmark of the Vatican though a divine institutions but run by fallible humans. The kind of powers n wealth wielded by the Catholic Church would have been devastating if the Nigerian churches could wield 10 percent of such.

You forgot the Constitution is written by the same religious people(Muslims and Christians). This is done In other to live in harmony.

Theirs no way Muslim or Christian lawmakers will allow a law fighting against his/her religion pass.

Note: this is not unique to Nigeria, all over Europe, Meddle East and Americas lawmakers are very careful dabbling into Religious matters.

Why do you think the Vertican a country, exist within another company country (Italy).

I think we Christians are very foolish. We should know the aim behind all this. They want to silence all the big names in Church. If these big names cannot talk, is it the new GOC that will talk.

If a GOC of a Church should retire at 70, why can't they apply the same rules for politicians? No politicians above 70 years should rule this country.

I wish Arch Bishop Benson Idahosa was alive to see this day, all this nonsense will not happen.

If I get to 70 years as a Pastor, I will not step down. It is God who has called me and not man.

Tomorrow, mumu Christians will still go and vote for the government persecuting them. I fear Nigerians. We are the cause of our problems.

Fayose will eventually regret all his wailing statements when the time comes, let him go back to history Fani Kayode's father who nicknamed himself Fani Power to destabilize the then Action Group party government of Chief Obafemi Awolowo thereby destroying the old Western Region eventually regretted his action when he said he was now a born again christian and a reverend pastor.
so Fayose should be aware of "the ides of march " says sooth sayer to Julius Shakespeare .
