For where....thats an irrational claim..if oduduwa was a banished prince how come his descendant(son) became an oba in benin?
The Benin empire was the strongest and most formidable in the present day Nigerian geographic space, and one of the greatest, in the whole west Africa, only parts like Ashanti tribe of Ghana and Timbuktu in Mali can be compared to it.

Hence it is never feasible that a man or Prince from Nigeria will go conquer a nation like America and take over their Kingdom...

his descendant became oba of Benin because he himself is from Benin.

there are facts and the Oba of Benin said it himself during coronation and also the Ooni also said so.

FYI, Islam is one of the secret of Yoruba, we accepted Islam the same way your people accepted roman catholic and have not been able to grow and find God for yourself unlike we Yoruba's that has since discovered God through various life changing ministries, islam is an import from the Arab to the North and their closest neighbour west, as much as christianity is good Islam puts an end to every affliction, check out cities such as Ilorin, Kaduna, lagos, jos etc, they own their success partly to Islam, only few flatinoes realising this have started to embrace Islam, go and Google the wealth of Dubai, Malaysia etc, you can make it without crime through genuine christianity or Islam, not idolatory Catholicism. you have no point.
You are wrong. D white colonialists never forced their religion on Igbos or any other tribe for dat matter. Igbos embraced christianity voluntarily when we saw d good in it unlike afonjas who were given d option of koran or Fodio's blade.

I'm begining to think that the iJaws and Fulanis share ancestry because where ever they are welcomed and allowed to settle, they begin to claim ownership.
That's why sometimes we call the Ijaws the "Fulanis of the Niger-Delta". The Ijaws are very troublesome and aggressive people. Just by any mistake allow them establish fishing camps in your community, and I tell you, in a few years time their offspring will start claiming ownership of the land/ territory. Moreover, years of militancy and confrontations with the Federal Govt during which the Ijaws stockpiled weapons of war have further embolden them to now believe that they can forcefully seize the lands of their neighbors with ease. Could you believe that Ijaws site the secretariat of their Ijaw Youth Council [Western Ijaw Zone] headquarters in a completely owned Urhobo town [Ekpan in Uvwie LGA] when there are many Ijaw towns [Burutu, Patani, Bomadi, etc] in Delta State they can make their headquarters? Is that not an act of aggression and provocation against the Urhobos who are owners of the town? A visitor or stranger seeing the secretariat of IYC in Ekpan may erroneously think Ekpan belongs to Ijaw. Well I blame Uvwie-Urhobo youths for allowing the Ijaws to do that in the own land. Goodness.

Prince Chima of Anioma sent the Bini warriors packing and drowned many of them in the niger river when they ventured into Igboland through the western front. Go read your history. Igbo have never and can never be conquered by an Indigenous African tribe.

Ask yourself why despite Bini kingdom being a stone throw away from Igboland it couldn't influence Igboland substantially but went all the way to influence yorubaland and even naming a city Eko (present-day lagos). Eko was historically a war camp of the Binis. They also own the title Oba.

You are partly right but it was the river niger that prevented them from going in Not your prince hence the name Asaba.

He had a personal issue with his Dad, the Oba, who could not stand him around the Kingdom anymore... After the Oba died, he could return... It is his lineage, his inheritance, hence his own son had to go become the Oba.

This is the close relationship the Benin and Yoruba tribe have. No one wants to belittle any one, but let us search for truth from neutral sources.

I remember very well how Ijaws on this forum would be claiming known Igbo lands and communities in Nigeria and the Binis would be supporting them because of in-born hatred for the Igbos. Now look at it now. It has come to their doorsteps to bite their behinds.
Good for them! smiley

Gelegele is Bini land. It has been so for over 700 years

The Ijaws should stop being mischievious.

It was founded by Ekaladeran son of Owodo in the 13th or 14th century when he ran from the Obas justice.
In the 15th century Portuguse, English and Dutch traders arrived there and were received and welcomed into the Benin kingdom. They traded with the Binis and not with the Ijaws. There are many documents to support this. Where were the Ijaws then?

In 1823 the Vienese explorer Giovanni Belzoni died there of dysentry his death was reported to the Oba who sent message to the British to remove his body.
In 1896/97, the expeditionary force commanded by Admiral Harry Rawson attacked the Benin kingdom (not the Ijaw kingdom or outpost) on their way to the capital.
The name of the bini village beside the port is Ughoton.

Most of these details are recorded in history by British, Dutch and Portuguese writers. Nowhere is Ijaw mentioned.
Are the colonial historians all lying? Note that many of these writers were hostile to the Benin Empire, they therefore had every incentive to distort the truth about the ownership of the land. Yet they all affirm that Ughoton and Gelegele were part of the kingdom.

I will draw an analogy here.
In many cities in Nigeria there exist 'hausa quaters' where hausa people live and do their business. Does that automatically make it their land?
There is almost 800 years of oral and written history supporting the bini claim to Ughoton and gelegele. This is longer than the lifetime of Nigeria and even the Sokoto sultanate.

The Ijaw should know their history and respect themselves.

Oba gha to kpe e!

All true Bini sons and daughters please like and share
So the colonial historians aren't lairs after all. Hope to hear that from some of you when igbos start presenting their own evidence on towns like Agbor and Igbanke.

this bini people should leave warri out of there madness, why are they dragging warri into this ?, how dare them declare a single tribe as the original owner of warri? , they shouldn't think because people are quite they can tell who owns warri, Urhobo, itskiri and ijaw both control there part in warri and we are happy with that. they should face they land and lets others be.

for those of you calling ijaw land grabber you know nothing about ijaw, ijaw land extend to ondo and Edo, most oil producing communities in Edo are ijaw communities.

they think this is 300yrs ago, try ijaw people, them go show you pepper, overated edo people..
Are you Ijaw or Urhobo? If you are Urhobo then I'm surprised at your comments about the Ijaws! Do you realise that of recent the Ijaws are aggressively laying ownership claims to several Urhobo towns and villages [namely Aladja, Odorubu, Uduophori, Ofoni, Frukama, parts of Olomu Kingdom, etc], and have even forcefully invaded some? Guy, wise up. Ijaws are becoming land grabbers by the day. Waadoo!

Yorubas became Muslims voluntarily.
People like Timi Lagunju of Ede and Aare Latoosa were Muslims who fought against the Fulanis.

oduduwa was a banished prince from bini
The name "ODUDUWA" appears to have originated from Edo language. Here is the meaning of Oduduwa in Edoid languages: "ODUDU" [means "abundance", "plenty", "surplus"", "great"] "UWA" [means "riches", "fortunes", blessings, prosperity]. Joined together, "Odudu+uwa" therefore means "Abundant Blessings" or "Great Riches/ Fortune". The name Oduduwa in Edoid languages signifies someone that is very fortunate or has good luck following him. Proudly Urhobo!
